I don't know, Tenley. Love is not necessarily something that lasts forever, especially considering that humans aren't exactly monogamous by nature.
Also, hat do you mean by the "rule of being married"? I don't see much of a relationship between marriage and love these days (I'm not sure if there was one to begin with). Fiscally, it can make sense for two people who aren't in love to be married, especially if they are house mates. When a marriage is no longer convenient, they can get divorced and go their separate ways. Conversely, plenty of people who are deeply in love are never married, but they can live together and have children anyway.
Tell me, would you stay with someone if they treated you like dirt, or if you just weren't happy together anymore? If there were too many problems to work out? If they tried to hurt you?

Rainflower's right. Lots of people get divorced because someone's being hurtful or because there just isn't a lot of interest anymore. Sometimes no amount of talking can heal that, even if everybody's on the same page.
