I'm going to offer an entirely neutral comment, and simply answer the question posed to me by the title.

To me that looks referenced, because there's enough different to look referenced, not traced. That's just how it looks like to me. *shrugs*

I am going to calmly set aside the art for a moment - because, to be frank, I'm not an artist, and while plagiarism is bad, that is an entirely different conversation.

I do feel, however, that as a responsible adult, I need to maturely point something out.

This is public forum. When you come into someone's post and publicly lambaste them, in front of everyone, you do not get to proceed to tell everyone, 'this is between me and whoever I'm accusing of plagiarism'. Because by doing it in a public place, you make it everyone's business. Furthermore, you do not get to turn around, make another post, and accused the person you have accused of 'sicking their friends on you'. If you had done this in a private setting, and then people started attacking you? That would be another thing entirely - because by that rationale, it could be assumed that the person you accused then turned and made a private matter not-so-private by telling everyone they know.

That is not what happened here.

Thus: No one made you out to be a bad guy but yourself. There is no finger to point when you are to blame.

Second of all: If you do not want to be accused of causing drama, perhaps it would behoove you to consider broaching subjects in a less blunt, more polite fashion.

Behind closed doors. Air out your dirty laundry that you have with people somewhere more private. IF, and ONLY IF, they refuse to admit to their mistakes and compromise cannot be reached, should you POLITELY warn others of possible copyright infringement.

Now. To the artistic aspect.

Last time I checked, tracing was still a valid art medium. If not, we would not have light boards. I did not see this person parading their artwork all over the website, throwing up (copyright by) signs, or anything like that. You personally claim that you do not care if they copied it - only that they're not admitting to it. In other words, you have an issue with someone lying. That, too, is a personal issue, and is not something you want to make public unless you are purposefully trying to make trouble. I think, in the beginning, your intentions might have been pure, but at this point, you're merely being a troll.

No one likes a troll.

Please stop this remarkably absurd behavior before you do irreparable damage to your reputation here, and possibly lose friendships.

I feel the need to prove my point because the artist, and their friends were all attacking me. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you and all that mess. This is not where you're picking sides, I want neutral opinions. I'm tired of the artist denying that they've seen this picture, all that they had to do is say, "Oh yeah, that's the pic I referenced!" And I'd be fine.

I'm not saying that what they did is against any rules. I'm just mad that they're attacking ME for pointing it out, and denying the fact that they did it, Iau.

ok first of all doe i didn't attack you, second of all i didn't go and tell everyone i know to attack you cause i went to sleep right after i told you i didn't copy this last night, and i woke up at 2 pm today and all those comments were already there, thirdly i didn't copy/ traced this picture i already let you know why i didn't do it, and yes it does look very similar but like i said this is the default pose i use for all my sketches this wasn't even going to be an actual drawing i was just sketching by hand then re-drew it on my computer and added some color cause i was inspired to do so after playing a game so stop trying to make me look like a bad person by saying oh they attacked me cause i never did im not the type of person that starts up a huge thing over something this stupid, i don't have a problem with tracing or copying it's just another way people learn but i didn't copy this picture, like i said before stop trying to connect the dots just because it's convenient for you

Oh, and, I don't think it would be copywrited unless there is a name somewhere on it, plus the backround is different and if he did reference it from this, it has honestly nothing to do with the picture as a whole. The pose might have merely been an idea.

Fallow deer probably have an amount of points that are most commonly found, thus the similarity.

I'm not sure why it couldn't be a coincidence. I mean, yes, they're pretty simmilar. But this isn't a terribly unique pose: I've doodled my own (unicorn) characters in this basic pose somewhere in the realm of 20-40 times. There are some differences ( the perspective or just the shape [if you imagine it in 3D] of the antlers, the tilt of the head and a few details in the anatomy), and really, I see no special reason why the person involved couldn't have never seen this picture: I've never seen this picture. Is it a common picture, seen wherever photographs of deer are found?

I don't think you're a bad person for wanting honesty. But you're asking for honesty and not accepting what you get, just because it's not what you want to hear -- without any solid proof that they're not being honest (and if they aren't, for shame, but whatya gonna do?)

Mind you, if they did reference this, and don't want to admit it for whatever self-esteem or fear-based reason... Is this really a problem? I mean, it just doesn't strike me as worth it in any sense of the word. He-said, she-said things are just a huge waste of everyone's time, because no one ever really proves anything, so no one ever wins. But everyone, including impartial people like me, loses.

I'm going to stop arguing it. I honestly believe that there is un-deniable evidence here to show that it was at the VERY least referenced. Anyone who doesn't believe that can, I guess, and that's great.

Here's my final say: If Yurei can prove to me that it wasn't referenced, I'll drop my opinion off the face of the earth.

If not? Then I'll let it go and be happy that they admitted it.

Like I said, I'm not offended by the fact that it's traced, I'm offended that Yurei is blantantly denying it.
