Origin
In the morning after that night which fearfully
had passed in outcry, tumult, uproar, -
the sea split open once again and screamed.
And as the sea slowly closed up
and from the sky’s pale light and brightness
fell back into the fishes’ chasm –
the sea gave birth.
Rainer Maria Rilke,
The Birth of Venus.
Yet Muiel's birth was not as romantic as poets tend to describe the birth of Venus. Covered in blood, mud and rotten flesh she was washed out on the costline of Cyprus during the mass fish stranding so many years ago she can barely remember what happened on that day after she managed to take her very first breath and open her eyes to the world she has become a part of.
She never wanted to know what caused so many deaths on the day the same unknown reason brought her to life. Be her birth a good or a bad sign she would always remember the feeling of importance, like she herself was the nature's painful scream and a? attempt to remind itself it still can create.
The sea is considered as a parental figure, often refers to it as her only unfeigned family. Claims to understand it's language, the way the water talks in waves.
Free man, you'll always love the sea — for this,
That it's a mirror, where you see your soul
In its eternal waves that chafe and roll;
Nor is your soul less bitter an abyss.
Charles Baudelaire,
Man and the Sea.
In Depth
Superficial ⚓ Judges a book by its cover. Most likely to take interest in those ones she finds somehow attractive. However the beauty is a very subjective thing.
Self-sufficient ⚓ Strongly believes she's worth something and will never ever let anyone tell her otherwise, make her feel unworthy and unwanted. The degree self-confidence and self-love vary from the most healthiest forms to the unpleasant and damaging ones.
Uneducated ⚓Despite many years of existing in the human world, has never gotten any academic education, nor has she been able to due to not belonging to high or even medium classes. Doesn't feel all that bad about it, however. She may not know why mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, but has enough knowledge to successfully survive and more or less understand why things are this or that way.
Not found of reading and would rather avoid it, but when she has to actually face it - would try and avoid difficult words and concepts. Much better at perceiving audial or graphic information.
Maternal ⚓ Desperate to have a child, however, is unable to. Shows strong maternal love for the younger ones, would care deeply and do a lot to keep them safe and sound... Until she gets bored and spot feeling how they fill her need for other's love and attention.
Accepting ⚓ One must do terrible things to actually get under her skin, making her truly, deeply and unforgivable hate them. Muiel might shove you off, throw the rudest words at you, but it's not hate. She knows hate is damaging for both of you and especially her, so she will try to avoid it as long as possible. She might be not the calmest persong and have hot temper, but she is also quick to apologize when she is wrong and if you are, she will not deny yours. However does this mean she will easily forget? No, but she might pretend to.
"I’ve been practicing kindness instead of anger.
Keeping my hands open instead of clenched into fists.
It has made all the difference."
The Savior ⚓ Drawn to the broken things or things what are about to break for an unknown reason. Has an utter desire to fix them, some kind of a Lady Knight complex. Desires to play an important role in someone's life, to be desired and adored, to be their savior. Yet is rather quick to give up on something she's unable to fix and she clearly sees it. Won't carry the dead burden around for her own sake. You are under no obligation to be someone's cure.
