Seed's Tips for Avoiding TEF-based Unhappiness

Now, before I begin, I want to put forth a disclaimer: this only really applies to in-game stuff and its influence on out-of-game feelings and community drama. Community drama on its own is a different field entirely. Second: This is just how I do things. If you handle things differently, and it works for you, that's absolutely fabulous. In fact, feel free to put forth your own tips and strategies into your replies. This is just what I think may be worth trying if you find that you're being made unhappy by in-game events and do not like it. It may not work for you, but if you're really unhappy, you need to try changing something, and you are always the thing you have the most control over. I'm not attacking anyone in particular, I'm not out to cause more drama, I'm not thinking you're silly or wrong if you don't do these things. I just want to help people not feel the need to make the fusses we sometimes make over what amounts to a series of interlapping stories and a pile of pixels.

Also, I'm posting this in a time of relative calm as a preventitive measure. To my knowledge, there's nothing going on right now.

These are in no particular order.

#1: Recognize the patterns. Stuff happens all the time. Most of it is the same stuff, over and over again, because people are creatures of habit. What this means is, you can look back on familiar patterns and see what works and what doesn't, and how most things play out. Most dramas like this last between 1 to 5 days, max.

#2: Capitalize on IC drama ICly. Drama makes for fun stories. There's no need to run away from that fact just because you weren't planning on it. Try to find a way to make this unpleasant thing fun for you: for example, when Seed's unhappy, I make him roll out these big, flowery monologues (which I just freaking adore).

Asking permission to...

I'm bored.
I'm a horrible artist but I want to draw really badly |D' because I doodle when I get bored.
So I'll likely be doing doodles of people's deer, I just want to make sure I have people's permission, so if you could just post here f you're all right with it?

Interaction thread.

Inspired by veryone else, and because I love to RP. and because it gives my deer a chance to get to know others.

Make sure you're clear about which you speak to :3

Ask Vilnius anything.

Have one for Chopin, decided to make one for Vilin'

Don't shorten my name, it's disrespectful.

Be quiet Vilinius.

Hello, new fawn here.

I've just recently stumbled upon Endless Forest, and joined in the game. Most of the other deer were asleep, but I ran around with one...I hope whomever it was didn't mind. :3 They had something along the lines of an X with something above it. My symbol is two triangles, one up, one sideways, and a line. I'm sorry, my poor fawn is unnamed as of yet, but I hope to make a story for him very soon!

The Official Art Critique Thread

If you are here, you would either like to have your art analyzed, or would like to help people improve, yes?

Good. Let's get started.

A few ground rules:
1. If you want to bash someone, that's too bad, dunk your head in a fishbowl or something. While constructive criticism is what we're aiming for, anything that is seen to be flat-out rude will not be tolerated and this thread will be deleted after a good number of offenses.
2. If you are going to post something that is rather adult, please post a link to it instead of posting the image on the thread. I'm already responsible for plenty of lost innocence, thanks. D8 (Adult here means excessive nudity, gore, very harsh language, sexual themes, etc)
3. When critiquing a specific piece of art, please say who it's directed at. If it isn't the one directly above your post, it can get confusing!

How to post your art (more or less)
"-insert pic here-
This took about 2 hours in Photoshop 7. It's Oz and Desanm, humanized, messing around on the beach. To help with the skeletons I used this and this as references. Redlines are wanted, thanks!"

What constitutes a good critique?
[=10]"@Fledermaus:

I love the colors you used! They're very vibrant and the fact that you used different tones for the shading adds a lot of dimension to it. However, the composition is a bit unbalanced - everything major is in the bottom right corner of the picture, and there's not a lot on the left. While this sometimes works, it makes the canvas pretty empty here. Maybe you should try adding another subject?

One Of Those Interaction Blog Thingies

(fail title is super-fail)

Alright, I have my computer back, and can play TEF again! But this blog will still continue. Feel free to start a new interaction, even if you were part of one that already ended.
-----

I originally made this as a roleplay blog, but I decided to change it. But it can still be used for roleplay, too. Basically, here you can interact with any of my deer in any way you want. Introduce yourself, ask questions, whatever you want to do. It can be in roleplay form if you want, but it doesn't have to be. It's all up to you.

If you want, you can even address more than one of my deer, or even all of them, at the same time. Like if you want to ask them all a question, for example.

Links to all character bios can be found here.

TEF Censorship: what is and what is not acceptable?

Because I am genuinely curious.

From what I've seen within the community there is a big motivation here to shield the younger members from more harsh content (language, violence, sexuality) which I can agree when it's done in a respectful manner (by both artist and those requesting censorship). Yet I've seen that sometimes work slip through the cracks of this censorship. Which got me thinking, as an artist and writer, what should I be posting?

I draw and am working on human anatomy. Sometimes this means I show a lot of skin in my work (anybody who's seen me draw Queze knows this) but I don't tend to draw sexually charged stuff. When I write I often use romance and violence. Does this mean my work is still ok to be submitted? If so, is there some sort of balancing act where more sexual pictures (kissing for example) are ok as long as there isn't much skin showing? Is content of any range (obviously not talking pornographic) of content acceptable as long as it is properly warned in the title? Is there a separate set of guidelines for literature and art (which there should not be, in my mind)?

I'm not looking to cause any fighting, I'm just curious and would like to have some more concrete guidelines for what I post here. And please, don't say "post whatever you want, don't let people stop you." if I felt that way, believe me I would do it. But I respect the will of the community at large to have certain restrictions.
