So I haven't really played TEF for too long (compared to others) and I haven't ever really wondered who the deer was that I was playing with.
However, this particular deer has the exact same pictogram as I do. (The enchanted deer on the right is me.)
Not only that, but I had my deer lay down while I went to do something. When I got back, this deer was still standing over me, though I was gone for quite a long time. I haven't really met many deer like that on this game.
I'm hoping I'm doing this the right way but I just wanted to know, who is this deer (the default one on the left)? I'm hoping to get to know them if they're not too shy about it.
(Here's a close up of the pictogram. It's on my DeviantArt stash, so I don't know if you'll be able to see it if you're not on dA. But I thought I'd provide this just in case.)
so here it is, Aureus's official design. I don't really like this shading, and I don't know how I did it, but I don't remember how to gone from sketch to painterly lineless. I think a five hour drawing session is a good ease back into art after a dry spell, anyway. Thank you to everyone who watched my join.me while I worked on this. Having people there keeps me way more focused. Without you, I would have probably dropped this before the sketch was finished.
Aureus has a long red mane of thick, silky hair on his nape down to his tail, and can raise a portion of it along with his hackles when angered, frightened, stressed, etc. His vampiric bloodline comes from eastern Europe, so his fangs were referenced from a venomous snake endemic to the Balkans. His antler design comes from his father (a character I brought here very briefly), and since his species in his homeworld is sexually dimorphic in their colouring, he inherited few phenotypic traits (in regards to colour and pattern) from his mother. Since he's a vampire, I drew back the edges of his mouth unlike a regular red deer in order for him to be able to open his mouth wide enough to clamp his jaws around prey at least as big as he is. His jaw opens further, but I didn't want to draw it.
thanks again for being a part
Okay, this is maybe only 40% lizard and 60% non-lizard, but I love alliteration so here goes.
Today wasn't a good day so I was hoping to bring some smiles by sharing information about the lovelies I work with just about every day. Some of these critters are my own, some are in the care of my boss and his reptile/exotic rescue, but they're all so lovely, and I wanted to share. :3
