Spirit Animals

I've been researching this as much as possible, and I'd like to know what all of your spirit animals are (if youve found them) and how you found them. Maybe a story? I'm trying to find mine, and I just can't clear my mind; empty it of all the stress of school life. Maybe these might help.

My two main spirit animals

My two main spirit animals are deer and sparrow. These are my life totems. I've had various other totem animals come into my life to guide me for a short time, most notably fox and crow.
My advice for finding your spirit animal:
What animals seem to call to you? Do you have a favorite animal? What animals do you often see? Are there any that visit your dreams often?

That is, yes. It does take

That is, yes. It does take meditation, but dreams are a good start. When you're thinking about it, or you wake up from a dream, try to remember the circumstances surrounding the deer. What was it doing?
It takes some souls searching, and totems can change through out your life.

*cracks hooves* here it

*cracks hooves* here it goes:

Favorite animals (from earliest to most recent):
Domesticated Cats were my first favorite animal, despite being allergic to them. I always admired their grace and reflexes, and especially loved petting their soft fur. My first fursona was an anthro cat named Cat Chris. Ironically, I have become more of a dog person, but I still like cats. Cats symbolize cleverness, intelligence, intuition, and the supernatural

Dolphins and Whales were favorite animals of mine as a child. I was very interested in aquatic animals and dreamed of swimming with them. Dolphins and Whales symbolize many things, including generosity, playfulness, harmony, friendship, awareness, and appreciation for beauty

Snakes became my next favorite animals. I loved them because they were very misunderstood creatures, and I found their bodies to be very beautiful. I could relate to them pretty well. Snakes symbolize patience, balance, cunning, awareness, intellect, healing, and protection

Pelicans have been favorite birds of mine for a long while since learning about them. They are a vital animal in the Gulf Coast and I personally find them to be beautiful and majestic. Pelicans symbolize focus, humility, safety, direction, friendliness, responsibility, generosity, and teamwork

Goats became a favorite animal of mine in my teen years. Much like snakes, I loved goats because I felt like they were very misunderstood and overlooked animals. I adore meeting them in real life, and love their silly and optimistic nature. Goats symbolize many things, including curiosity, courage, faith, balance, dignity, peace, sacrifice, respect, exploration, and nurture

Deer of course are my current favorite animals because of the Endless Forest. I relate them much with my love for goats, and I am very happy to watch them in real life as well as watching videos and webcam recordings of them. I also include elk, moose, gazelles, antelope, and so on with deer. Deer symbolize love, grace, beauty, humility, regrowth, creativity, spirituality, and benevolence

Animals associated with me (birthdate and so on):

Geese are my Native American totem based on my birthday, and have become favorite animals of mine. I can visit Canadian geese at a pond close to my home, and I love feeding them bread. Geese symbolize communication, determination, fellowship, confidence, protection, teamwork, and loyalty

Turtles are also associated with my birth month. I have not explored them personally but I do like them and can see a resemblance to my passive nature. Turtles symbolize order, longevity, stability, innocence, and endurance

Oxen are my Chinese zodiac, and symbolize Loyalty, reliability, thoroughness, strength, reasonableness, steadiness, and determination

Animals who have revealed themselves to me:

A Coyote appeared to me in a vision where I saw him running through the desert. I have since learned much about coyotes and can relate to them very well. I especially love reading about Native American lore and folktales about the coyote. Coyotes symbolize skill, instinct, enthusiasm, intelligence, resourcefulness, and playfulness

Wolves were animals I did not like for a long time, but it was because I did not understand much about them and was very closed-minded when it came to learning about them. It took the Endless Forest community to teach me about them, and now I respect them. Quad even has a wolf form now. Wolves symbolize intelligence, cunning, communication, friendliness, loyalty, generosity, and compassion

Cardinals have become my favorite songbirds since seeing them so often in my back yard. They will fly down and feed from the bird feeder we have set up in the yard, and I enjoy watching them as they rest and feed. Cardinals have always seemed to be with our family, and even other relatives of mine have said that they are favorite birds to them as well. Cardinals symbolize grace, nobility, energy, and happiness

A Hummingbird recently flew up to me when I was outside, and since then I have fallen in love with them. I bought a hummingbird feeder one of the days after and was enchanted by them as they fed. They even allowed me to stand very close to their feeder and watch them close by. It was a magical experience for me that such a small creature could trust me. I felt like I gave them a gift by providing a feeder and actually making the 'nectar' for them, and in return, they really brightened my life. They have migrated now, but next year the feeder will be ready for them to return. Hummingbirds symbolize energy, vitality, joy, renewal, sincerity, persistence, peace, loyalty, playfulness, and affection

I haven't find my spirit

I haven't find my spirit animal yet. I have really wanted to find one and researched how to find one. I just haven't ever really tried. I'm scared that I force myself too much and end up just some way "deciding" my spirit animal... But I guess I really should try finding one when I really feel like that.

Some way I really hoped that my spirit animal was a skunk. When I was a kid and created my first fan Digimons (oh yeah) I created one based on a skunk. I just picked it quite randomly from an animal book and doodled something. And that "Skunkmon" followed me my whole childhood, it was my partner Digimon, I made new evolutions for him. Every now and then I created some other Digimon to be my partner but Skunkmon came back, always.
Couple of years ago, when I wasn't paying too much attention to my old Digimons anymore but creating new ones, Skunkmon came back again. I felt really nostalgic and almost guilty for ignoring him for years. I redesigned him and made him whole new evolution line.
Also, when I last time visited a zoo, I was able to see a real life skunk for the first time. I just stared it and thought how beautiful and cute animal it is.
And I have one plastic skunk toy on my bookshelf, staring at me, and one skunk plushie too. And my Netsona/alter ego/whatever is also a skunk.

Last spring when I went to a folk high school, one evening I got really angry, frustrated and annoyed that I just had to go outside because everybody in my rooming house just made me more angry. I went to sit to a swing near art class rooms, which were seperated from other school buildings and was located at the bottom of the same hill where other school buildings were. I sat there, trying to calm down. I looked at the lake which was right next to the school and listened to surroundings. I guess I was little bit scared there - I have lived in a city for my life and even though I really liked all the peace and natural voices around me, they were so strange.
I ended up sending some text messages to my friend. When I was replying to one message I just lifted me head without any good reason. And I saw a cat. Black and white cat, staring at me. He/she had a dead mouse in his/her mouth and we just stared each other for a moment. Then, as silently as he/she had came, the cat walked away and I followed him/her with my eyes. Soon the cat was disappeared and I was confused, but really happy. That thing wasn't just a cat there, it was much more.
Could it be that my spirit animal is a cat? I have wanted to have a cat for couple of years now, which surprises me little bit. When I was a kid, I always wanted a dog. Now I want a cat.

Some of my friends have said that I'm some way little bit like a Saimaa ringed seal. Or a badger...
When I was a kid, my absolute favorite animal was an elephant. I just loved them, I loved to watch Babar and documents about elephants. Later lions took that place and then dogs and wolves. I still like elephants, lions and wolves, but I really like lynxes too. And goats... (My zodiac is Aries, Chinese one is Goat/Sheep)
And my IRL first name means "deer" in Finnish dialect - or old Finnish, not so sure about that but I know it means "deer"

Sorry for a quite long post, hope you understood at least something. >_>;;

Meditation, lots of it, it's

Meditation, lots of it, it's a long story. I'd suggest taking time and not pushing anything, or you'll slow yourself down.

My spirit animal is Weasel. According to various sources, that's pretty much summed up as;

Weasel Family’s Wisdom Includes
Moving Quickly
Fierceness and Warrior Energy
Achieving Justice and Retribution
Small Size is No Barrier to Success
Obtaining Deep Inner Intuition
Being Fearless and Tenacious
Possessing Cunning and Stealth
Guidance to the Underworld
Discernment
Ingenuity
Revenge
Keen observation

"The weasel as a totem animal relates to alacrity and observation. The weasel's power of observation is tremendous, and not much goes unnoticed to those who have this totem. The weasel encourages a higher level of observation - where observing and intuition combine to provide the observer with qualities of prediction of outcomes."

My birth totem is the Snake.

Wisdom - Healing - Symbol of Eternity
The shedding of Snake's skin symbolizes the transformation of the life-death-rebirth cycle. They are compelled toward evolution and transformation, driven to discard the past and emerge with new 'flesh'. It is the energy of wholeness, cosmic consciousness and the ability to experience anything willingly and without resistance. It is the knowledge that all things are equal in creation, and that even things experienced as 'poison' can be integrated and transmuted with the proper state of mind.

My Chinese zodiac animal is the Dog.

the Dog symbolizes character traits such as loyalty, compatibility and kindness. Dogs frequently offer kind words and useful advice, always listening and lending a shoulder when necessary Dogs at times can also be temperamental, narrow-minded and stubborn. When this happens, the Dog takes off alone in order to make things right again inside its head.

Although Dogs are trustworthy, they have trouble trusting others. It can take a long time before a Dog feels at ease with another person. When Dogs don’t build trust they’re judgmental and rough towards others.

When it comes to romance Dogs often have a tough time. Others are often scared off by the Dog’s insecure, worrisome and frequently anxious nature. Dogs are known to be cold emotionally and critical.

I'm not sure if they count

I'm not sure if they count but small lizards may be protectors for me as well. I've always loved catching the anoles that live in the small spaces of our house's exterior, from a child even to today (I still go outside and catch them). When I catch them, I let them bite me, and I'll rub their heads and bellies, but after a few moments I let them go.

Lizards are said to be protectors of small children, as well as bringers of good dreams. I wonder if the lizards are still protecting me even though I have become an adult.

The day that the hummingbird came and visited me, I had opened the grill on our back porch and found an anole was resting on it. I scared him away so he wouldn't get hurt by the grill when we lit the fire. So I wonder if the two of those have anything in common since they appeared at the same time.

My dreams mostly consist of

My dreams mostly consist of snakes but they come usually in a hostile way. Should the spirit animal come as a peaceful silent thing or can it come forcefull and scary?
Tamatamatamatama....

Hosoemota, When I was younger

Hosoemota,
When I was younger I use to have dreams of snakes and spiders which were nearly always aggressive and scary in my dreams. It is funny because I never feared snakes or spiders. In fact I use to play with baby wolf spiders at school and have had pet snakes. Now older and having 'pulled through' some of the hardest parts of my young life I have come to realize that spider and snake often warned me of deception and the dangers of being tangled in the webs of society. They also spoke of other fears I had and needed to over come.

In some Native American cultures being bitten and nearly killed by an animal and living through it was a test from their Spirit Animal.

Snake and Spider are two of my animal guides and I respect them as much as I respect my more 'friendly' seeming guides. So yes, they can come to you in frightening ways as well as peaceful. If they become too frightening to you just remember they are there to help and teach you however their method.

Spirit animal... hmm I've

Spirit animal... hmm
I've heard stories about them from my family. I should probably know more about them, but I do know the bare facts.
Like Mr.Sanguine said, it takes a lot of meditation. It could also occur on random, during a distant state of mind, unfocused on the real world, ect. You really need to go through a psychological change through the meditation.
Finding your spirit animal isn't something you can just "do". You can’t walk out into the woods, or zoo, and say "oh I saw a squirrel. That's my spirit animal". And you have to understand that you can’t imagine your spirit animal either, which people tend to get confused with.
From my knowledge, and what my grandfather has taught and given me, your spirit animal is a very special encounter. Prior to all the sites about spirit animals, the only real way to learn about them is directly from the source- someone who has already found theirs.
Seeing your spirit animal... you can feel a connection unexplained. Unlike anything you've had before. Spirit animals may appear more to you than others; then again it could be coincidence. Back to the squirrels- just because you see a lot of them doesn’t mean they’re your spirit animal.
I believe a spirit animal can be just about anything. Usually (what I've been taught)mostly North American species. I'm sure other cultures have spirit animal, spirit guides, something similar also.
I know that spirit animals may appear in dreams and throughout deep meditation; peace of mind. These "dreams" are significant in feeling, you can usually tell and/or feel what just happened. As repeated, don't imagine a feeling, a connection. It will come naturally to you when it happens.
Finding your spirit animal won’t be easy.

Sorry for the last minute information, but I love talking about this kind of stuff. Especially sharing the knowledge that has been shared with me, generation through generation ♥
Good luck my friend

Yeah kind of. It explains

Yeah kind of. It explains what the Natives believe in about how there are messages all around us in the form of animals who reveal themselves to us, and what to interpret them as. It also has several stories and legends about the different animals and a list of animals and their symbolic meanings. It's pretty useful in learning about spirit guides, and I think the author talks about it in a way to where he's pretty respectful of the reader's beliefs.

I don't know if I believe in

I don't know if I believe in spirit guides, but my reasons are for another day.

But canines, deer, sharks and magpies are significant animals in my life.

Deer - About four years ago I first found the forest, this was before the community site was made and the forest refused to work for me. A few months after I had a dream about a white stag, about red deer size. The day was clear and he looked almost to be glowing. I was on one side of a small river and he the other. He didn't pay me any attention to me and I just watched him. I still remember it very clearly and I remember waking up feeling very very happy. I stumbled back onto TEF and it was a year later and the comm site was up and it was working for me, I don't know what'd changed but it's not stopped working for me since. I met my girlfriend here, I've met countless amazing friends, improved my art, my writing and character making skills.
I've had dreams about him since, and they're always different. He's visited me in old schools, fields, mainly forests, and I've always woken feeling very happy. I take him to be a good omen, and even got him tattooed onto me so he is always with me. He never pays attention to me in my dreams, but I can't help but feel a great fondness for him when I think about the stag. Maybe he's a deceased relative, I like to think so, giving me guidence.

Magpies - This one's very recent. At the area I work they are always around, they're such strange things, and whenever I see one they seem to perk me up by doing something, or even just being them. I feel a connection to those birds for some reason, though why I haven't figured out yet.

Sharks - A couple of years ago I developed such a fear of sharks I wouldn't go into water, scared of being eaten. I don't even know why, I've never seen a shark and don't live in an area where they would be.

Canines - I was born in the year of the dog and as a child it would be my favourite thing to pretend to be. I've always felt a connection to canines, especially my own, and feel they're a lot wiser than people think.
If anyone would like to give me some insight, go ahead.
-derp-

Xylv - I mentioned the

Xylv -

I mentioned the symbolism of deer in a post above, but you can read about them here

Magpies are good signs. They are messengers as well as birds that will listen to you when you're sad or depressed. They are considered wise, good listeners, and genuine friends. They are cunning, crafty, and a survivor, so they are good with advice. They represent intelligence, opportunity, communication, expressiveness, and will

Sharks warn of danger, including global disasters such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and tidal waves. Sharks do not belong in fresh water so if one is found up a river it is a warning of flooding. Sharks symbolize instinct, power, calculation, effectiveness, innovation, and superiority

Whee, thank you Quad ♥

@xylv that's so cool! The deer in my dreams is a doe, sometimes a young buck, and the EDIT: setting is in the middle of a lush forest. In a clearing with an old cabin in the corner.
