After 3+ years of abandoning this account, I have logged back on it to rediscover an old question regarding a possible glitch.
On my profile, it says I've been a member for over 7 years, but I have a gen 3 pictogram. I remember when I first logged on that it was wrong. I think it should actually be around 3 years old. Is there any explanation for this?
the picto gens have nothing
There is four picto gens in total. That means that you registered before 2010, the year where the fourth generation of pictos was released.
My main account (this one) has a 3rd gen picto, but all of my others accounts have a 4th gen picto.
There are a lot of pictos in one generation. Apparently 50 000 pictos according to this old post.
Here is a useful post about it.
^That post has been moved, so
4th gen was released in 2014, Kamaya. While the generation doesn't directly dictate the age of an account, it does give a maximum age it could be. Since the 4th generation wasn't introduced until 2014, no account associated with a 4th generation pictogram can be older than 2 years old. It's the inverse that doesn't hold true (an account with a 3rd generation pictogram CAN be younger than 2 years old if the player does not log into the community site until after registering the pictogram - this is also why many 1st gen pictogram community accounts list an age younger than the pictogram itself, as the community site was not introduced until later; mine is several months younger than when I first started playing, in example, because I joined before the community existed).
It is kinda weird that your account is 7 years, seeing as the 3rd generation only ran from January 2012-March 2014... That would mean the oldest it could be is 4, nearly 5. No idea why it would have happened, unless somehow the username got registered twice or something.
