A quick warning for skype users

If someone sends you a message that says "this is my favorite pic of you lol" don't click the attached link, it'll infect your computer with a virus that will then use your Skype account to try to infect others. Just thought I'd say something because a few people have gotten it already.

Yeah.. I clicked but never

Yeah.. I clicked but never opened it. Deleted it right away after I got the exact same message from someone else.

Edit: My skype hasn't sent anything, and I noticed that it seems to send at the same time? (I have two infected friends). I'm not at all saying you're safe if you don't open it but, I don't think my skype has sent anything.

Anybody know what it does? I

Anybody know what it does? I clicked it too before I knew what it was. Running a virus scan and nothing has shown up yet.

I'm not entirely sure what it

I'm not entirely sure what it does to your computer past being an obnoxious spambot, sorry.

Thanks for the warning - I'm

Thanks for the warning - I'm pretty cautious over stuff like that but I have fallen for it before. Glad to know.

Same thing happened to me

Same thing happened to me sight. I think it is just a spam like someone said, after we clicked it will probably send it to our contacts (if our virus software didn't take care of it already)

Same here. Clicked but didn't

Same here. Clicked but didn't open it. If anyone RECEIVES from me, let me know? Either on here or via Skype? I keep getting it from Silv but she's aware of it. My protection just wore out and we don't have the money to renew it yet, got me worried a bit.

Then again, All I gotta do is transfer my pics to a flash drive then I can reset the laptop and not worry about losing anything, lol.

Best info I can find for

Best info I can find for y'all.

If you follow the links, there's eventually a post that suggests Malwarebytes Antimalware to remove the virus. This program is free, and I HIGHLY recommend it; it has saved my computer on multiple occasions where Norton Antivirus has failed me. The free version does not scan automatically, but the manual scan is very simple and intuitive to use.
Good luck, guys.

It's recommended that you

It's recommended that you change your password if the spambot starts sending it to your contacts, in case it turns out that it's hoarding passwords. Scarrryyy.

Malwarebytes Antimalware did

Malwarebytes Antimalware did not find anything when I ran a scan. My virus scanner did however, I use Zone Alarm. Have to pay for that one unfortunately though.

Maybe the threat isn't listed

Maybe the threat isn't listed in the MB database yet? o.o

I haven't had any reports saying any are coming from me yet so I think I might be safe. I guess time will tell.
