This game leans more towards Un-Realistic. So if its un-realsitic why shouldnt we be able to talk? I mean We cant know if we ever see that same Deer again. Hopefully in the Near Future we will be able to chat on here like FeralHearts
M&A gave us the community for words. The Forest itself is a place to escape them, where everyone is on equal footing. Because the Forest has its own 'language' of guestures, it doesn't matter what language we all speak or write in.
There are thousands of places to go for blinking messages and walls of text. Some of us appreciate this little niche without words - and maybe one day you will, too.
I quite enjoy not being able to chat, or having others chat. First, I'm not big on RPing.. I haven't joined or started any on here, but maybe one day I will. Second.. with EVERY game I ever played that had chat.. point blank... DRAMA. When you can't turn off the chat channel that the drama is going on in.. it's nearly impossible to ignore. Like WoW, or FFXI, or Perfect World.. it was drama all the time. This game I can enjoy because you don't read sob stories or anger issues, you don't have it on here, so it's relaxing. I have never played a relaxing game before this one, this is the only game that you have the true escape from real life.
But like someone else said, this site here is meant for the chatting, the words. I know a couple deer by their pictograms, one I haven't seen in a couple weeks, others are just familiar.. I don't KNOW any of them on this site, but when I am in the forest and I see their picto, I can go play with them. The easiest way to remember pictos... quickly draw it on a piece of paper, I've done this a couple times now, lol. I hope they never integrate chatting on here, I would ask for more motions we can use to communicate though.
This game is really defined for being able to interact without having to chat. How many other games do you know where you can play and have fun with anyone even if you don't speak the same language as them? FeralHearts certainly isn't like that because the Russian-speaking players only interact with each other, and the English-speaking players only interact with each other, and so on.
Just play this game for a while, and you'll learn to love using actions to interact with others.
Unlike most people, I agree with you. This is ridiculous and to tell you the truth I hate it. I can't stand not being able to talk to friends. I joined this game so I could role play with my friends and roleplaying requires talking or texting. You can't sing without sound and you can't breath without air. You can't drink without the liquid and you can't live without a brain or heart.

The Endless Forest was not meant for chat, and I hope to god it stays that way. It is a moving painting, a work of ART.
The community is here for chatting. As is Skype. Use these instead.

TEXTUAL roleplaying requires text. But to roleplay a true animal you don't need either. Just try it.
