Noob In Need of Rescue

Okay, I'm extremely new to this. I don't know if this is even the right place to post this.

Alright, I downloaded this game only a couple days ago. It was all good fun, but now I have a problem. Just today, I logged on like I should and the network menu said that there were thirty players connected. Even though it says that there are thirty players playing, I can't see any of their pictogram/name/symbol things on that black border surrounding the game window, except for one that never moves and is always at the bottom of the screen. I head off in the direction of that pictogram, and I end up going in a huge circle without seeing any deer. Then I wander around some in hopes of randomly bumping into a deer. Still nothing.

I'm probably making a really dumb and obvious mistake here that can easily be fixed, but I would really like some help here.

Thanks in advance. Smiling

Sometimes it takes awhile for

Sometimes it takes awhile for the pictos to spread from that clump at the bottom (which is the one picto at the bottom). If you've tried waiting and other deer never show up, you're probably experiencing connection problems, which I'm not sure how to fix. e__e

Welcome to TEF, though! ^^

I get this problem too. It

I get this problem too. It usually shows your own pictogram for a minute in one spot on the black border then it separates and shows the individual pictos of the other players in-game.
Have patience and it should work next time.
I hope this helps. ><

Psh naw, that isn't a dumb

Psh naw, that isn't a dumb question at all c: I didn't know what any of that meant until like a month after playing. Anywho, the one pictogram at the bottom is pretty much just a big mash-up of all the pictograms. After a few seconds (or minutes, depending on the connection), the pictograms will spread all over the black borderline that encompasses your window (which also, as you might have noticed, contains all the helpful symbols for the landmarks you'll find around the forest). It's just a sign that you haven't fully connected.

Usually a lot of people have a hard time connecting and having the pictos spread at this time of night... which is a real pain. >> Usually it's a lot better during the day... but for now your best bet is to shut down the game and restart it c:

Perhaps try disconnecting

Perhaps try disconnecting (from the menu) and connecting again; that worked for me when my pictos wouldn't spread earlier this evening. Can't guarantee it, though - TEF can be fickle when it comes to connecting.

Yes, welcome to the Forest! ^__^

Pretty common glitch. If you

Pretty common glitch.
If you are certain there is nothing wrong with your computer or internet, and your connection circle is NOT red (orange/green are fine - green with a pictogram clump at the bottom is best, and it sounds like that's probably where you are), try going into your menu and disconnecting and re-connecting, as suggested earlier. You may need to click "Connect" a few times if it flickers back and forth between looking for the network and not doing anything.
If you try this at least twice and it does not work, do it one more time before closing the menu. Make your deer stand immediately and moo, then begin to run towards the pond and Twin Statues if you are not already there. If your pictograms still have not spread, continue to run and moo until you get to the pond/Twins. Jump in the pond and get out again, moo some more, and pray in front of the Statues. You can get up and moo every now and then, but continue to pray in front of the statues until you turn white. If, by the time you turn white, you are STILL not fully connected, start the process over again. If the second try does not work, go into your menu and quit to desktop. Re-start the TEF client and start back at square one.

On my most difficult connection days, I have not had to go through this process more than twice unless the server was down.
I don't know why it works, but it seems to produce results for most people.
As a side note, if you see a pictogram scoot along the bottom to join the clump every now and then, that's a good sign. In my experience, the more often it happens the more likely it is that you will be able to connect.

Good luck!

Is this your first time

Is this your first time trying to get into the forest? As everyone has said above, it's a common glitch and there are ways to get around it. But.... If you continue to have the connection problem, and there are a high(ish) number of players online, it might be that your computer can't handle it, as I've found out with my computer -~- and you'll have to wait it out until there are less players.
BUT! try everything else first before you assume this :>

also.
Welcome to the forest and I hope you have much better luck connecting~
