"Hn..."
Had a very tense reunion with Darcy after being absent for a couple of weeks.
He was extremely joyous to see Kumiko again, as she was with him, but Darcy's reaction to his arrival left him upset and confused.
Attempted to approach Darcy only to be met with taunts and antler-shaking.
Dejectedly, with some coaxing, he sat a little off to Darcy's side with Kumiko, willing to at least keep him company.
Darcy soon left their side, and Obake forced himself to be cheerful by playing a little with Kumiko, Herla and a couple of fawns.
Herla turned him into a mini, which further helped lighten the mood. The oni ran around in good humor, failing to be threatening.
Was saddened all over again when Kumiko left. He then followed Darcy's scent to the Gods Hill, much to his dismay.
Cautiously the oni approached, strangely not deterred when he saw that Darcy was praying. He remained vigilant, however.
Darcy then moved towards him while bearing the devout spell, causing Obake to flee as he believed that the monarch would use it.
Darcy pursued him to the playground, which only angered and upset the oni even further. They had a stand-off before D left again.
Stubbornly the oni followed him, and seeing that D was at his daughter's grave site he sat a distance away out of respect.
Was surprised when Darcy soon got up and beckoned him over. He did so, and the two sat together in silence.
Darcy was later persistently "attacked" by Herla, who kept casting animal spells on him and darting around.
Although amused, the oni got between them and attempted to discourage Herla, as he was afraid that a fight may break out.
Later on Herla returned again, and the oni beckoned for her to sit by him in peace. She did so, and the oni could finally relax.

Obake is an oni who is not only carnivorous, but also consumes souls on occasion.
This occurs when he is starving, doesn't wish to hunt or as an act of venegful spite.
He consumes just enough, rather than an entire soul, to satisfy himself.
The process itself is relatively harmless, and painless.
The side-effects are not severe, but include mild dizziness, nausea and fatigue.
Side-effects vary in strength depending on how much of one's soul he has consumed.
Obake prefers the souls of fawns and young deer, as they are more potent.
He is drawn to pregnant does as the unborn fawns are prime targets for soul consumption.
The process may be indentified by him circling and then nuzzling a fawn continuously.
He may be chased off, and will usually not put up a fight.

No worries at all, Bandit, it's fine~ Thank you for the track! ♥
~
I felt the need to document the epic derping that has happened tonight between Obake, Darcy and the zombie deer that had accompanied them on their shroom-fueled journey a couple of nights ago. Behold!
"Hngh...ach...get off me, you too heavy. Darcy, help!"
Haha, I should have played that while he was running! He was chasing Big Bunny around for a good while; it was so funny. He tried to ease up a bit around Kaoori, but the temptation was too great; he wanted a chomp out of that pesky rabbit! =P
Oh! I actually almost passed by Big Bunny since I didn't notice him at first, but when I finally did see him I figured that Obake could have his revenge...or attempt to, haha! Next time I'm definitely playing the Benny Hill theme, as per Kaoori's suggestion! =P
A-ha, so that was your fawn! I apologize for Obake's behavior; he can be pretty distant and rude sometimes, especially when he's in a stalking mood. She's very sweet for giving him some company, though! Thank you for the track, hon~ ♥ =)
So then why was he attacking Amary before Reed even appeared? Unless he was already there previously.
She's the one with the magpie pelt, key antlers, and butterfly mask.
Oh, so you're that deer's player! Hello there. =) I should have noted that he suddenly became agitated when Amary and the fawn showed up, as he was trying to spend some quiet time with Darcy. His mood tends to shift drastically, and so he was trying to ward her away. In this case, he was being selfish. He certainly wasn't trying to attack her since she wasn't a threat. Reed showing up only worsened his mood, haha. I apologize for the confusion; Obake can be unpredictable, but he only attacks others if he feels there is a threat, or if he randomly has a bout of rage. The latter is pretty rare, thankfully. =)
That is quite alright; Amary can think of him however she wishes. I certainly don't expect every deer to know what makes him tick, or to even accept him. I'm glad that the confusion has been cleared up in any case! =)
Oh my gosh, how cute~ Hello to you too, BB! I do hope that Obake will run into Big Bunny again soon; he misses chasing that little bugger, even though he always fails at catching 'im! =P ♥
Thank you kindly! Bright Eyes is a stunning character as well; I absolutely adore his design, and the CSS on his bio is so beautiful! ♥ Obake is pretty charmed by him; he adores crows, especially big ones. Bright Eyes is welcome to visit whenever he likes! =)
Haha, I didn't know that Big Bunny came to visit; what a sneaky little critter! Looks like Obake was too lazy to give chase, but he definitely will next time! =D

Oh my gosh...! Quadraptor, thank you so very much; this is a beautiful poem, and I absolutely love it. Thank you for taking the time to write it; you are too kind~ ♥
The abrupt feel of something coarse and alive at his back, blossoms upon his tines being shifted about--
--the birdlike face lowered over his shoulder, a damaged blossom petal delicately pinched in its beak. Eye contact was made, but just for a moment. One wild-eyed glance, before he stretched out his neck once more, continued preening and tidying Obake's antlers.
The oni stiffened at the contact, but soon relaxed when he recognized the birdlike creature. He felt a little embarrassed from being caught off-guard, but he disguised it and straightened his posture slightly, staring straight ahead at the group before him. The preening felt nice, and admittedly the cherry blossoms upon his tines were becoming withered. He made a mental note to replace them with fresher one from his favorite area in the ruins.
Humming contently in his throat, Obake, inclined his head slightly, provided the giant crow greater access to his antlers and perhaps fur if he so desired. "Thank you," he said softly, his eyes falling shut for a moment. "I remember you, but I not know your name." An ear slowly swiveled back curiously as the other moved forward.
--
Kaoori - Aw, I don't think I've seen Kaoori around in a while either. He does miss her; he always loves her company. I do hope that they may be able to frolic about soon! =) ♥
Obake was happy to see Kaoori as well! Poor dear...I hope she'll be alright. =( As a matter of fact, as soon as I checked on the game I saw her bow, but before he could bow back Kaoori was off like a rocket! =P No worries, though; he's always grateful for her company, no matter how brief. ♥
How is anybody supposed to know what's going on inside of the forest with the tools given for communication? Thanks for voicing this concern. I was playing with fawns and a rabbit at the fountain and shape changing. Not with your group.
I hope your group will stop being hostile to others who are newer and don't know your group's "deer" language or anything about your role play fantasy games.
This incident happened a few days ago, therefore it's naturally said and done with, but I will answer your concerns regardless. Since your deer is fully grown, I assume that you understand the basic and rather limited emotes available within the game, and what they mean. A head shake means "no", rearing may mean aggression, and so on. I had observed Ayala getting too close to the doe who was in labor, which was setting off the other deer. Even after the deer had communicated to Ayala in-game to please give the doe some space, she continued to persist. If that wasn't enough, the doe's player requested on Ayala's bio that she please leave everyone alone...not once, but twice.
Obake, my deer, was not part of the "group"; he was merely a participant of the event. ICly, he became fed up with Ayala not getting the hint and attempted to drive her off alongside Crucio. His intentions were not to harm her, but rather to get her to respect her distance. This is not to be taken so seriously, as it is, as you said, a role-play fantasy game. If is difficult to feel sympathy for your situation when it was clear to the other players as well as myself that Ayala made no attempt to respect anyone's wishes. Hopefully, such misunderstandings can be avoided in the future, or better handled and acknowledged.
With that said, I do not wish to further discuss the matter, as it is over and done with. Thank you.
I have to run to class, but I didn't want to just have Brighteyes fall asleep without telling you. >u> Obake is so much fun, I hope he's still around when I get back. ♥
[e] Also, I'm sorry I didn't reply to our rp. ;; honestly, i've been so busy with school, i temporarily forgot about it. Would you like me to respond to it when I get back, or do you think it's a little late for that?
No worries at all, cicadia! I don't get offended when deer poof; after all, we all have stuff to do outside of TEF. Oh, that's wonderful to hear, thank you! ♥ Bright Eyes is a lot of fun as well; you do a great job of conveying his emotions despite the limited actions the crow can make. Obake will definitely still be around, although he may be idling later. Bright Eyes is welcome to stick around and poke him if that's the case! =P
Again, no worries! It's perfectly understandable; I'd rather you focus on more important things than a reply to a RP. You can definitely respond if you'd like, or if you feel that it's too late then we could start a new one pertaining to today. I really don't mind either way! =)
The sweet aroma of freshly burning incense was a scent that was hard for nature to mask. Even with the air filled with the smell of flowers, flowing spring water, and soil, it was never powerful enough to overpower the unearthly scent. The twilight doe had grown to instantly distinguish the distinct aroma, beckoning her to his side. Her little heart fluttered as she giddily rose to her feet. Blueish-purple butterflies scattered by the sudden movement of her slender body dashing through the violet field. Quickly, Kumiko ran in his direction.
Skidding to a halt, she stopped not far from him. Being sure to be quiet as she admired him from afar. Slightly nervous to approach, but longing for his touch. Obake's midnight blue pelt smoothly blended in with the violet flower patch he rested in. His large frame resting against an old oak, nestled in the soft ferns growing among its exposed roots as he gazed out over the sparkling pond. She let out a happy sigh as her hazel eyes soaked in the tranquil scene before stepping closer to him.
Tiptoeing, she made sure to not disturb him as she tried to think of an appropriate way before the ice. Now standing a few feet away, she softly spoke, "Konichiwa, dear oni. Such a lovely afternoon, wouldn't you say?"
Normally, the blue-coated oni was rather intuitive and very much aware of his surroundings. It was rare when he didn't hold his head high, his yellow eyes scouting out the treeline and his ears swiveling to every intruding noise. Even when he slept he was aware, ready to spring to his feet and face any deer who dared to disturb his slumber. For the past week or so, however, he was not exactly himself. He had begun to care less about what happened around him as a strange emotion that was very foreign to him began to take over: loneliness.
Obake did not know that that was what the emotion was called, but regardless he felt it. Kumiko and Darcy, two of the few deer that mattered so dearly to him, had begun to drift from his senses. For a while he feared that he would never see them again; he was not sure what he would do if he lost them. And now, he sat beside the oak that stood tall behind the Crying Idol, his powerful form slumped against the bark. Wearily his eyes remained fixated on the pond in the distance, almost entranced by the way the sunlight danced over the rippling water. Moos and scents alike came and went from his notice, none of which he recognized or cared to acknowledge.
So lost was he in his stark, silent contemplation that he did not notice the twilight doe that he loved so dearly stop short off to his side. He did not pick up on her scent as she was downwind, and he had switched himself off from outside noise. The only sign of motion from the elk-sized oni was the gentle rise and fall of his belly and chest as he breathed.
That voice... It was as if he were brought to consciousness with smelling salts. Immediately his ears stood up, and his head swiveled to take in the sight of his beloved friend standing there before him. With an intake of breath he briefly took in her gentle, slender form, and how the typically dark color of her fur seemed to brighten under the caressing sunbeams. Her eyes were soft and kindly as always, and he looked into them for a moment almost in disbelief. When he finally realized that he was gaping at her like an awestruck fawn, Obake quickly climbed to feet and closed the distance between them, nuzzling Kumiko tenderly and being careful to not overdo it. He could barely contain his enthusiasm and joy.
"Utsukushii kon'nichiwa, sweet miko," he breathed between nuzzles, his mask having been nudged up off of his face to do so. His eyes glowed with newfound warmth, and his dark lips curved up into a gentle smile, though made awkward in part of his tusks. "It lovely now that you here, Kumiko. I miss you much," he continued softly, another strange yet familiar feeling that he couldn't place stirring within him. Not to make her feel guilty, he quickly added, "But all better, now that you here." Unable to restrain himself, he leaned in to very lightly brush his lips against her cheek...it was not so much of a kiss as it was a caress. But it proved to be a teasing gesture when he immediately jumped to the side, but only slightly, his form crouched and a mischievous grin on his face. All at once, his enthusiasm had come back. All it took was to see her face, lovely even when obscured by her mask.
[Oh dear...so sorry for the long post! I guess when I get going, I can't stop! =P]
The mask softly fell to the flowery floor as Obake shook it away. The golden glow of his eyes lit up his face, bringing out his handsome features against his midnight fur. His towering frame gently pressed against her's. Careful to not cause the smaller doe to lose her balance as he lowered his neck to her level. Brushing his soft cheek against her own. His lips lightly touched her. Caressing her tenderly. The fur upon Kumiko's neck stood straight as an electrifying shock of excitement shot down her spine. A rush of bright red color exploded upon her puffed cheeks. She blushed as she smiled, looking over at him with sparkling eyes.
Happiness bubbled inside of her causing her to have to restrain from letting it explode. "I missed you, too..." her voice was a soft whisper.
A warm feeling swirled within her chest as her body lost all feeling of weight. As the oni leaped playfully at her side like a puppy, Kumiko turned her back to him. Standing straight and tall, trying to make herself look as sleek and slender as she possibly could while attempting to hide her blushing face. She gazed over her small shoulder and batted her lush eyelashes, teasing him with her eyes. Flirtatiously, she flicked her tail at him. Trying to flick his nose and waiting to see what he would do.
The miko needn't attempt to make herself look sleek and appealing, as she was already perfect in the oni's eyes. She was a creature of beauty, gentleness and grace, something that was foreign to the demon and yet he found himself drawn to it. Her soft words warmed him to his core, and hearing her speak made him remember how much he had missed her voice...how he had missed all of her. The sparkling eyes, her downy fur, wavy hair and gentle laughter...all of it had been missed dearly. The longing in his heart had instantly been forgotten once he became lost in the warmth of her eyes.
And now he was crouched behind her, grinning from ear to ear without fear of frightening her with his exposed and pointed teeth. His playful stance faltered momentarily when she gazed back at him, batting those dark lashes, an endearing and attractive shade of pink upon her cheeks. Like a starstruck fawn he stared back at her, his eyes having widened slightly. He seemed to be trapped within her gaze, as if under a spell...and then, a flick to his muzzle brought him back.
He made a small snuffling nose, a little surprised initially but then quickly overcome with amusement. Chuckling, he leaned forward to give her rump a teasing nip before leaping in front of her again with surprising fluidity for his size. He wasted no time in stealing a quick peck on her cheek before leaping off to her other side in almost the same line of motion. Laughing heartily he made a silly face, his tail flagged high as he trotted in a tight circle. "A-ha! Hai, you see, Kumiko quick and graceful. But Obake more so!" he called out gleefully, being playful in his mock gloating. His eyes shone a little brighter as he regarded her again, his smile's warmth matching that of his glowing orbs. There was probably never a moment when he wasn't admiring her, truly.
His movements were graceful and quick as he leaped about around her. The sharp prick of his teeth slightly dug into her skin like sitting on a pin needle; not enough to puncture her but enough to catch his attention. The tiny pinch shot up the miko's spine, causing her ears to stand straight as her body stiffened. Her soft lips curled into a shocked 'O' shape. Blinking a few times, her eyelashes fluttered like butterflies with long, thin black wings. She turned to face him just as he slid to her side, pecking her gently on the check. A warm sensation exploded inside of her, causing her ruby cheeks to glow an even brighter shade of red.
The oni was now playfully circling her. Going around about her teasing her, coaxing her to chase him. She smiled sweetly as she shook her head. Her dark purplish bangs swayed with each swift movement as she tried to hide her embarrassed face from him. "Oh, is that so, mighty oni?" she called out cheerfully to him.
She bent her slender forelegs back as she drew in her hind legs like a spring. They curled beneath her petite body as she let loose the happy energy that had been building up within her limbs. The little miko leaped into the air before gracefully landing a few feet away, continuing to sway her hips in a flirtatious manner as she trotted. The gentle late fall breeze brushed against her, blowing her shimmering the fur about. Only adding to the sense of radiance to the beautiful doe.
"If you are so good, dear oni, then maybe you will be able to catch me," Kumiko pranced back in his direction before drawing her face close to his. The smoothed end of the tip of her beaked mask brushed up against his skin and she gazed deeply into his glowing eyes. Getting lost for a moment before her smile widened. She tilted her head and swiftly drew her head closer. Quickly, pressing her thin, soft lips against his bottom lip exposed between his tusks before turning to sprint off quickly. Calling out over her shoulder as she frolicked away, "Tag! You're it!"
