"Hn..."
Had a very tense reunion with Darcy after being absent for a couple of weeks.
He was extremely joyous to see Kumiko again, as she was with him, but Darcy's reaction to his arrival left him upset and confused.
Attempted to approach Darcy only to be met with taunts and antler-shaking.
Dejectedly, with some coaxing, he sat a little off to Darcy's side with Kumiko, willing to at least keep him company.
Darcy soon left their side, and Obake forced himself to be cheerful by playing a little with Kumiko, Herla and a couple of fawns.
Herla turned him into a mini, which further helped lighten the mood. The oni ran around in good humor, failing to be threatening.
Was saddened all over again when Kumiko left. He then followed Darcy's scent to the Gods Hill, much to his dismay.
Cautiously the oni approached, strangely not deterred when he saw that Darcy was praying. He remained vigilant, however.
Darcy then moved towards him while bearing the devout spell, causing Obake to flee as he believed that the monarch would use it.
Darcy pursued him to the playground, which only angered and upset the oni even further. They had a stand-off before D left again.
Stubbornly the oni followed him, and seeing that D was at his daughter's grave site he sat a distance away out of respect.
Was surprised when Darcy soon got up and beckoned him over. He did so, and the two sat together in silence.
Darcy was later persistently "attacked" by Herla, who kept casting animal spells on him and darting around.
Although amused, the oni got between them and attempted to discourage Herla, as he was afraid that a fight may break out.
Later on Herla returned again, and the oni beckoned for her to sit by him in peace. She did so, and the oni could finally relax.

Obake is an oni who is not only carnivorous, but also consumes souls on occasion.
This occurs when he is starving, doesn't wish to hunt or as an act of venegful spite.
He consumes just enough, rather than an entire soul, to satisfy himself.
The process itself is relatively harmless, and painless.
The side-effects are not severe, but include mild dizziness, nausea and fatigue.
Side-effects vary in strength depending on how much of one's soul he has consumed.
Obake prefers the souls of fawns and young deer, as they are more potent.
He is drawn to pregnant does as the unborn fawns are prime targets for soul consumption.
The process may be indentified by him circling and then nuzzling a fawn continuously.
He may be chased off, and will usually not put up a fight.

Hummmm ouo Can I ask why he's drawn to pregnant does, or is that a secret? ;D
I guess I just don't want him to like.. eat Levi's fawns or something. LMAO
edit: OH. HELLO NEW PAGE. 8D *smears face all over giggling*
Why hello there! Ah geez, of course I'm not able to nab my own pages. I fail! =P Hmm...welp, at this point it's a secret (a.k.a. an idea in development, d'oh!), but I really doubt he'd eat the fawns. That's a tad bit morbid for me. However, he is a demon and is pretty unpredictable, so I can't really guarantee anything. I wouldn't worry about it, though; he's usually very passive, and he wouldn't bring harm to Leviathann. =)
my doe, Nanetta(gazelle pelt & noh stubs), kind of went after him yesterday for not leaving Levi and my other doe, Jade, (brown pelt, had gazelle antlers but just got the candles infront of him) meet him today ^^
Oh, thank you! I think I remember the deer you're talking about, especially now that I see her in your icon. =D Oh yes, I was a little confused about that. When Obake was sitting with Levi, I believe that your doe was sitting nearby, but she didn't react to him being with Levi until Crucio showed up. In any case, I apologize for any misunderstanding. Rest assured, he wasn't going to bring harm to any of them. =)
Thank you for the track! Your doe is very sweet; I do hope that they may meet again on better terms ♥
I've noticed you log your deer out whenever mine comes around, so I will be sure to avoid them from now on. It is never my intentions to frustrate the player. My deer can be quite annoying, but again, no point if I am upsetting the player. It also makes the interaction for me uninteresting anyway.
Oh, so that is your deer! I am very sorry; I believe that there has been a misunderstanding on my part. I had seen your deer before, and noticed that she would follow Obake around. I thought it was just an isolated incident, but when she followed him again tonight I thought that she may have been trolling him...although, I think that's probably too negative of a word to use. It was wrong on my part to log like that, in hindsight. I am very sorry if I came off as rude; I just wasn't so sure what to do.
You didn't upset me, don't worry; I guess I was just confused. I just hope that I didn't upset you, because now I realize how that may have come across to you. No need to apologize at all; it's my fault for being too assuming. Thank you so much for posting here and letting me know, and IC-wise, Obake sometimes tends to ignore other deer if he wishes to keep to himself. So aside from the whole logging fiasco, he was acting as he typically would. =) Again, I apologize for the misunderstanding, and I will be sure not to do such things in the future. ♥
Dang, what an intresting design for an intresting character. In fact I think I saw him running around my deer but I had no idea what he was doing xD Now I understand.
I actually thought trolling may have crossed your mind. Her behavior can so easily be taken that way. I did feel bad, and that is why I posted here. I'm glad/relieved to know it was only a misunderstanding.
In the future though, let me know when it becomes too much. I respect the wishes of other players.
Oh yes, I recognize your deer in your icon, Wingeddeer! Haha, Obake can be quite confusing; it's why I made a bio for him, so that his actions may be explained to those who are curious. =) Thank you for the track! ♥
Sianna - Ah, I see! I was too quick to assume trolling; sometimes I fall out of the habit of assuming that everyone's actions are IC. Then again, a lot of things tend to fly over my head, haha. But yes, definitely a misunderstanding on my part. I am glad that we were able to talk about it without conflict. =) Oh, absolutely! And please feel free to let me know if you have any concerns about Obake as well. I totally respect the wishes of other players also. ♥
Hehe, I think so too! I'm glad that they made some progress. I was surprised that Crucio was the one to approach Obake rather than vice versa. That's a good sign as well! =)
Hmmm... yeah, Crucio might have gotten defensive if Obake approached, so it's a good thing? xD t's probably better to let curiousity get the best of him anyway. Then he'll investigate on his own.~
Definitely a good thing, hehe! Although Obake is persistent, he wasn't about to get closer. After all, he was outnumbered. =P He's still curious about Crucio, however, and will undoubtedly welcome another derping encounter. ♥
Oh, so that was your deer! She is very sweet; her set is beautiful. Obake and I had a blast! I've discovered that he is rather fun to play as a fawn, hehe. I just had to take a couple of screenies; they all looked too adorable! =D
Oh yes, I was wondering about that too! At first I thought that the player wasn't really sure how to communicate that her deer wanted to play, which I had a feeling was what she wanted to do. But when she kept going up to Kumiko and rearing, Obake went into defensive mode just to be safe. =P
I had a lot of fun this evening regardless, though! Obake was very happy to see Kumiko and Darcy again; he very much enjoys their company! =D ♥
So that is who Kumiko was laying with last night :> It was a pleasure to finally know who this was! I've been wondering who your deer was for awhile now.
—
"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
You might have seen him hanging around Kumiko/Darcy and Herla if they are around. Though he's not exactly one to enjoy playing or anything like that which is why he often just sits off at the distance and watches XD

"Your efforts are insignificant! I carry you to your deaths!"
I was glad to finally see Obake in forest the other day. Kaoori was quite intrigued by him, but Wesker was on guard, and she wasn't going to start trouble, haha. xD
It wasn't every day the small shika smelled one of her favorite scents- sakura blossoms. It reminded her of where she'd come from. Of her old home. Although so many negative qualities had been associated with that place, she still longed for the mountain air and blossoming every year of those trees.
These blossoms, however, were not blooming on a delicate tree. They were on the antlers of a powerful oni, another from her homeland she rarely crossed. Puzzled, and not wanting to start trouble with her mate on guard, she sat behind him, looking over his shoulder.
Usually oni were up to no good. This one.. she could not tell.
[Oh, my apologies for not getting back to you sooner! It is sweet how protective Wesker is of Kaoori, but unfortunately (or fortunately) Obake was too curious to be discouraged~ I am glad that Kaoori is showing interest in him as well; he's fascinated with deer that are of his own heritage. =)]
~
Despite having met the small shika briefly the other day, her scent had already been committed to the oni's memory. He had followed it that evening, not the slightest bit discouraged to find it mingled with the scent of her massive mate. Obake did not fear the stag, no; he didn't fear anything, really. It was only Kaoori that he was interested in, for he sensed that she had come from a place very much familiar to him. Perhaps by becoming acquainted with her he could remember where he had come from.
The oni tracked the scents to the large rock at the playground, and being undeterred as always he settled upon it not ten feet away from the shika and the large stag. His glowing, orange orbs met Wesker's own briefly before his gaze settled upon the small doe. Silently he watched her, hardly breathing at all as he focused on his point of interest. He wasn't the most social of deer, and wasn't too familiar with common etiquette. Breaking the ice was a foreign thing to him, and so he was content to observe. For now, he needed to find away around this stag, for he was quite the roadblock and very much in the way of his goal.
A long moment passed as he sat perfectly still, and then out of nowhere he spoke what was on his mind, his voice deep and surprisingly warm. "You, deer from place. I know this place, but I do not. It memory I lost. I want to know...who you?" he murmured cryptically, his ears swiveling forward as he awaited a response.
(sorry for my delay too, now. I logged off, shortly after Obake came by. I was so tired ^^; I think Wesker will tolerate Obake as long as he doesn't do anything harmful; he knows Obake's some sort of demon so he's unsure of him. ^^; )
---
Kaoori's ears perked forward at the slight accent of the other's voice. Her violet eyes settled upon him. She'd seen this stag the other day, in a brief encounter, recognizing his true form as an oni. That he was so close frightened and intrigued her. Wesker was nearby, and she knew no harm would come to her. Oni could be violent, frightening creatures if they wished, but this one.. seemed a bit.. quiet. Confused. "Who am I? I.. am no one special. No one important. My name is Kaoori.. ", she paused, eyes meeting his briefly. "Why are you here? How did you get here? You've come a long way, oni-san."
[No worries at all, I understand~ Oh yes, Obake certainly won't harm Kaoori. His behavior can be quite sketchy, but Wesker has nothing to worry about. Of course, he probably won't be convinced of that, at least not for a while. =P]
~
The oni's head tilted as Kaoori responded. He didn't expect her to speak at all, so this was certainly a surprise. It was also a step in the right direction. "Kaoori..." he would echo curiously, pronouncing her name perfectly but letting the syllables linger on his tongue. The word itself held a particular familiarity...a language that he once knew. Did he still know it? Perhaps, but he couldn't remember. Oh, this was frustrating.
The shika's questioning threw him a little off-guard; he didn't expect Kaoori to be as curious about him as he was with her. A small snort escaped him, his gaze shifting to this side as if in embarrassment. "I not know where I come from, or why I here. All I know is my name...Obake. But is not my true name. It so confusing." Slowly he drew his eyes back to meet Kaoori's, and he looked at her a moment. "How you get here? I remember nothing, but maybe you help me remember."
"Obake-san." She tilted her head. She rarely spoke her native language anymore; she had not used it fully since she was a young fawn. "You do not remember anything at all? I.. I didn't come here willingly at first. I was driven here; abandoned by my family because of my strange looks. I was not a normal deer in their eyes." She closed her eyes for a moment. She would love to forget that part of her life. "I visited my homeland not long ago, through a portal here. But here is where I belong."
It was interesting to hear another being pronounce his name so fluently; it furthered that feeling of familiarity for him. The oni narrowed his eyes and snorted as Kaoori spoke. "Strange looks? No, I have strange looks. You normal to me." He wasn't the best at reassurance, as his voice continued to be dry. He rarely felt sympathy, but his heart was beginning to go out to the shika. And then, something clicked.
"Portal..." His ears slid back in thought, his lips curling from behind his mask as he pondered. "I think...I banished here, but it so cloudy. I barely remember. Maybe, through this portal I became this. Why, I not know," he murmured, regarding Kaoori with his burning orbs. "I wish I remember like you, but maybe it best I don't. What if I remember too much, and I change. I not used to be this calm, I think. I like this way more." Indeed, Obake was passive for a demon, but his behavior could still be erratic and unpredictable. "You not afraid of me, are you?" he then asked, not out of insecurity but of curiosity.
--
Kaoori laughed quietly at his reassurance of her looking normal. "If you have seen a deer from outside of this place, you know it does not look anything like the ones here. My herd even thought i was sent from the gods before they thought of me negatively."
At his question, Kaoori's ears flattened a bit, and she looked at him for a moment. Should she answer him truthfully? It could leave her vulnerable. But he did not seem a threat. "I know what you are, oni-san. I know what you can be, and what you can do. So I am on my guard. But right now, the way you are.. no. I am not afraid."
Tipping an ear curiously, he took in her response and furrowed his brow. Now that he thought about it, he may have seen a shika before, but he could not remember the specifics. Kaoori was definitely different in appearance, however, but he still thought her to be lovely. Her pelt was especially striking. "The gods...no such thing. Empty beliefs in this place. I see no gods here, only statue," he muttered with another snort.
He looked her over as she carefully responded to his question, and he raised a brow curiously. "You seen my kind before. No worry, I have no reason to harm you. Perhaps I seen you in past life, who know." He smiled wryly from behind his mask, his eyes bearing a warmer and more friendly glow.
Oh dear! I suppose Obake had it coming, haha; I expected as much from Crucio! =)
That is so funny, Sleepything; I literally just posted a comment to the geisha's bio! I am very happy they were able to meet as well; he completely melted at the sight of her; he loves meeting deer with Japanese background and influences. =) Thank you for the track~ ♥
Mm, Obake can be too if he's driven to do so~ Funnily enough, he was trying to make nice with Crucio, but he'd have none of it. Oh well! =P Obake isn't very familiar with common etiquette, so he thinks that sniffing at a doe while her mate is there is totally acceptable. Silly demon!
I certainly don't blame Crucio. Fortunately, Obake had no interest in taking Leviathann away from him; he's just very curious about her, and has boundary issues. =P He is beginning to take the hint, though. The geisha may prove to be a distraction for him, hehe!
Thank you so much! ♥ Both Obake and I were surprised to find someone sitting and staring at him for once, hehe. He's enjoying their company, as silent as it is. =)
Kaoori agreed whole-heartedly. Too many things had happened here for her to have lost her faith in these forest gods. "You are right. There are no gods here."
She lowered her head, but her eyes remained on the demon. "I'm not sure I fully trust you, but I see no reason to not let you nearby. Who knows, maybe talking to me will help you remember who you are." But was that a good thing?
Well, at least someone agreed that there were no deities to be found here. He had seen the faces of gods before, and never in the best circumstances. Here, he found nothing. The oni tilted his head slightly, his eyes narrowing a little from behind his mask. "I not expect anyone to trust me. After all, I not easy on the eye. But I thank you for want to help. You brave for a small doe," he replied with a slight bow of his head. Indeed, he had pondered whether he should learn more about his past or not, but he had always thirsted for knowledge. To be in the dark about himself for the rest of his days haunted him. He needed to know more.
