"...thoughts here...."

November 12th, 2015

Yes, I guess I can say I'm gone now. It's been 4 months and I've looked at this site maybe twice. I have absolutely no desire to go into forest anymore. Herla and my other characters are alive and well, though they don't live here anymore. I'm as happy with them now as I've ever been and feel much more satisfied with my creations since removing them from this place. I used to think that would be hard or impossible and if I left, I'd lose them. I laugh now at that, the best way out is through as they say, and then you wonder what all the fuss was about in the first place.

Health challenges continue, and part of that is minimized computer time since it aggravates my conditions to sit and type and look at screens. After a decade dedicated to digital art, I pretty much exclusively do traditional art now. Loving my Copic markers. It has really helped me to find alternative creative outlets like the Ball Jointed Doll Hobby. Starting to sculpt and sew too.

Please don't leave messages here, I'll be unlikely to see them. If you wish to contact me use the email below.

Please do not ask for any of my pictos.

Really sorry for my fail internet connection ^^"
It was a nice to meet you and Herla (:

RikkaChan: I must admit that

RikkaChan: I must admit that Herla is not as easy for new deer to get to know these days for a variety of reasons. It takes a lot of patience and persistence on the part of a stranger and I can never guarantee that she will be accepting. I can’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to do anymore and I won’t even try anymore. She very much has a will of her own in these matters as much as it may exasperate myself and others.

RiverCatRa: Oh dear, I feel your pain. Bad internet is so frustrating. Never the less Herla always appreciates Saburo’s calm company, he is very endearing. We enjoyed the time we did have with him.

Oh, don't worry, hun. I understand.. I guess I'll just have to wait till Herla has her twins. Smiling Uhm.. then again; Herla will be 2x more paranoid than before. x_x

Gustiro: Thanks for the track! Oh, I’m not sure either why we haven’t interacted much. Herla is my main character and she’s always been a bit wary and watchful of Gustiro when he’s about. And she just never seemed to get much of a chance to interact with Idelle when she was a baby. I have followed Idelle’s development though and always found her updates charming. Nice to see her now as a mini, the devout pelt looks lovely on her.

Ocean: Ah, yay, tummy pets! And thanks so much, it’s good to hear.

"I want to take this

"I want to take this oppertunity, if you'll allow it, to apologise for my past behaviour towards you, Herla. I understand that my anger towards you has been misplaced and although I doubt your intentions would be to never forgive me, I just wish for you to realise that I truly am sorry for the harm I've caused you. I don't intend to confront you with my emotional instability again, since I'm aware you mean a lot more to others.

I doubt the term acquaintance will ever apply between us, but I can accept this. Again, I'm deeply sorry for the sins I've committed towards you."
Sighthoundlady's picture

(I was afk when Walter came

(I was afk when Walter came by earlier, I truly have bad timing, but Faustt told me he approached though and that Ciel was none too pleased XD )

Just as bizarre and unwarranted as the old bull’s attacks on her had been, the apology uttered by him now was just as unexpected and confusing to the small doe. She remained behind the shield of her son’s antlers, a wary eye on the big bull, whose actions had always been unpredictable and dangerous towards her. She hesitated in replying to him but finally did, “If you truly feel remorse for what you have done then show it by never coming near me or my family again.”
Verdalas's picture

"The terms of my statement

"The terms of my statement apply only to you and those who I deem fitting, little doe. It will be my choice if I should not approach them, not because you claim it as a way to show remorse.

You have your ways.. And I have mine."

Hello. I would like to take

Hello. I would like to take this time to apologize to you personally Herla, for your mate had already gotten to me before I could apologize to him as well. I deeply apologize for the actions that I played upon you with Elijah. It was entirely wrong of me and it was simply me and Lin messing around. Again I'm sorry.
Sighthoundlady's picture

First off thank you for your

First off thank you for your apology. I can see someone new to the game might not have a good handle on in-forest etiquette and behavior and how those behaviors maybe interpreted by others without any other frame of reference. Some really experienced players have troubles too. So thanks for the apology.

(Also wanted to point out that Misako is not my mate. In fact,I think my husband might protest that a bit. XD Misako plays Gehirn, and Gehirn is Herla’s mate. The doe that I play. Herla is my character. She is not me, though I certainly put a lot of heart and soul into her.)

But anyways, I hope you have fun on the game. Welcome to TEF.
Keyblade's picture

Thank you so much Herla. And

Thank you so much Herla. And excuse my mistake xD And yes, I apologize that I'm not 100% sure of etiquette but Lin is teaching me more and more as we speak. Thanks.

I hope Ganga did not make Herla nervous (he was the green stag that was following at a distance). He is curious of Herla and her mate, but didn't want to frighten them by bursting in their personal space. After that other deer started harassing Herla, he decided to watch over her for a bit in case she/he came back.
Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla was under the

Herla was under the assumption Ganga is a doe based on the set in and in-forest behavior. XD

She encouraged Ciel, her son, to flirt with Ganga (again because she thought Ganga was a doe) So that was no troll, that was only Ciel behaving badly after consuming a potent aphrodisiac.
RikkaChan's picture

Oh gosh, Ganga didn't know.

Oh gosh, Ganga didn't know. xD;; I'm thinking of making Ganga a female, actually. I love his current set and it really does look feminine~ I hope Herla and her mate wont mind if SHE (gonna change Ganga to a female right now >w>) watches in the distance. She wont make any sudden approaches or anything Herla is uncomfortable with. And if her stalkerish behavior bothers her, she'll leave.

Ooh...whoops. I just read

Ooh...whoops. I just read Herla's updates from the other day, and I would like to explain why Sorog was hanging around. As it turns out, I could see Gehirn's picto on the map, but I couldn't see him in-game. Or at least, I didn't notice him. Because of this, Sorog and I thought that Herla was alone, and so he was just playing sentinel from afar, making sure that no threats came by. It seems that Gehirn got closer to Sorog, but I was either afk or still couldn't see him in order to not notice him. If he had seen Geh, he definitely would've stayed away. Sorry about that confusion, and hopefully Invisible Gehirn Syndrome won't happen again!
Mis's picture

Really? Whoa, that's one hell of a glitch XDD I really hope that doesn't happen more often! Sure makes it hard to interact. But that explains a lot then, rofl! It was quite the coincidence Sorog went off the first time Gehirn came to stare, but I suppose a coincidence it was. Thanks for explaining though! I was confused too XD
Lur's picture

Tell me about it; I've never

Tell me about it; I've never run into that problem before! @_@ It might have been just one of those weird bugs that doesn't stick around, so I'm not too worried about it. As soon as I saw the update, though, I thought "Oh crap!" and felt I should explain, haha. I'm glad I could clear up any confusion! <:

Iaurdagnire: Haha, I had to.

RikkaChan: It’s a family past time.

Sleepyhead: Ah, yes well that explains it, I have to say I was mightily confused. Delayed making an update as I was hoping you’d come on MSN so I could query you what was going on. You didn’t so I just went with what I observed. Makes a lot more sense now! I have had that happen to me too, not being able to see deer, when I have bad internet connection. It’s quite annoying and confusing.

One would think something

One would think something from the pond had crawled itself up onto dry ground. Long greens hung over its back, freshly pulled from the patches of alfalfa grass and big bluestem within the Birch Tree Forest. A large patch of clovers seemed to be growing down the black mane and further down mid back to join with a patch of ground leaves that held little red strawberries and a stash of last fall’s dropped nuts in an assorted mix. Spring brought the lovely bounty of fresh food if one knew where to look and borrow for. Strings of baby willow leaves had been chosen to rest over her rump, a skirt like effect happening as she walked carefully with the precious cargo. What couldn’t be carried on the red back had been chosen to rest in the soft grip of velvet lips. Bright red berries, little in size but big in flavor. A last treat for when one simply needed to be rid of the rather bland taste left from too many greens.
The red doe was not turning into one of the plants of the Forest. Her errand was special, a thought that had bloomed slowly overnight after visiting a mother to be. Once quick on her bright blue hooves she now rested much of the day, her large mate nearby as always to stand guard. How often were they able to graze on the treats of this new spring? Legs could tire easily when carrying and grass near their resting place had all but been trimmed down to the roots by three mouths. So, that early morning had been spent pulling and tugging up untouched patches of clover and grass, uncovered acorns that she had saved the previous fall deep in the earth. The smaller doe could use the brown nuts more than her. Jettem fed only one stomach, Herla must have been feeding two, maybe three?
Forgoing her normal clean look she marched around slowly, balancing the greens and berries and such as she took a caterpillar’s time in speed to approach the three figures laying about in a sunspot. Herla, being the brightest in color and seeming to glow with motherhood was the first her blue gaze fell on, knowing if she were asleep it would be…difficult to approach with a weary Gehirn and ever watchful Ephire. The doe was dwarfed next to the two large stags, the red legs slowing down even more so as she approached the group from the front cautiously. Second thoughts were not on backing off, but on if she had gathered enough food for all three deer as they sunned themselves.
She must look ridiculous waddling up to them with bits of the forest humped up along her back. Maybe a fawn or two was hiding underneath it all, the load of greens big enough to do so as the doe came closer before pausing several feet away.
Dropping the bundle of berries between front hooves she lifted her long neck forward and stared first at the stags, waiting patiently for their approval first in attempt to bring her offering of fresh food closer to the pregnant doe and her bull companions. A bright blue gaze watched for any signs behind the shadows of her mask. Long ears pulled forward in greeting, head bowing and nosing at the berries, pushing them closer and taking a small step forward, ears twisting back against her head in honest respect.

The little black doe dozed

The little black doe dozed curled up on the soft mossy floor of the Old Forest, nestled between two massive stags, one her mate, the other her protector. They’d found a spot of sun to lounge in that day, the warmth keeping the doe languid. The sound of someone approaching though had the does’ eyes opening sleepily to see what was approaching. A red doe, with mountains of greenery piled on her back was hesitantly coming toward them; it appeared a difficult feat to walk with all that balanced upon one’s back but the other was managing it quite gracefully. She knew the red doe of course, Jettem, Reed’s mate, though her interactions with her were brief, she’d known the doe as gentle and kindly.

The other was nudging forward some berries, clearly offering a gift though she could see the red does’ eyes where watchful upon the two large bulls and Herla did not blame her, her hesitation. So she rose to her feet, perhaps not quite as gracefully as she once would have managed, everything a bit more cumbersome these days with her burgeoning belly. Dainty blue hooves stepped beyond the form of the two large bulls toward the red doe where she offered a bow in greeting, “Jettem,” she said smiling warmly at the other before dipping her head to sniff at the red berries, “These are beautiful, and such a treat, thank you. And these,” she said indicating the greenery that piled upon the red does’ back and swayed like a skirt at her hips, “Could not have been easy to collect. Would you like to stay for dinner? I could make a stew.” The little black doe with red eyes loved to cook.

The giant’s eyes turned at

The giant’s eyes turned at the approaching bush. An eyebrow raised slowly as he looked at the red doe carrying a small forest on her back. His gaze quickly went to Herla as she got up to greet the approaching figure, which he soon recognized was Jettem. The doe that had approached with Reed in the past. He didn’t know either well, especially not the stag she tends to be with. But the doe was alone this time, Gehirn stayed in his calm position. But, watchful. Ever so. He wouldn’t forgive himself was he not.
He turned his head to look at the conversing does. There was still a frown on his face, his chosen expression by default.
Gehirn’s head tilted slightly and his expression seemed to clear up when Herla mentioned the word stew. But oh dear, the other doe was invited. He knew what that meant. Turning to the sunbathing Ephiré. “You’re staying too right?” He asked, though with Gehirn that was moreso a demand. “She’s a good cook and.. ” His voice went to a whisper. “.. I can’t handle girlchat all evening by myself.”

The large raven stag had been

The large raven stag had been on the verge of slumber and lazily opened his eyes when he heard the others' voices. He shook off a bit of dust and remaining sleepiness but stopped suddenly. He blinked, tilting his head questioningly when he saw the pile of greenery on four red thin legs. Then sudden realization when he recognized Jettem.
"Oh."
He bowed his head deeply as greeting. He was rather fond of the red doe, even though they didn't meet often.

When Gehirn turned to him he listened, silent, with one eyebrow rising at the end of the sentence and a small smile playing on his lips. A deerish shrug and then a nod. "Sure." Food is always nice, even though he wondered what kind of "stew" Herla would come up with.

silentlikethat's picture

A small smile grew as the

A small smile grew as the brilliantly colored doe rose first, grateful of her approach and dipping her head in greeting again when she came near. The large midsection of the smaller doe worried Jettem for a few short moments, thinking there must three in there. But then she was very far along, giving a gentle nuzzle to the grey blue cheek. "I thought maybe more than just grass would be a nice break as you rested. I imagine Gehirn doesn't move much for grazing as he watches his lovely doe of spring colors." Speaking softly she lifted her head as she heard the large elk stag talking to the raven masked one, ears twisting forward before looking down to Herla.
"Dinner would be nice, I've never had stew before though. I hope I brought enough for everyone." Coming closer she found a small clearing in front of Herla's mate, knowing such a large bull would have an appetite after sitting still for a while. Berries were dropped, then the patch of strawberries that cradled the acorns. Next the rather large amount of clovers, keeping each item separate from the other and lining them one next to the other, the long grasses becoming a nice enough pile before having to pull the willow leaves off next in bunches. No free of the mess she gave a good shake to clean of her pelt and tail, seeing a few leaves stuck in it and struggling for a moment before giving up.
"Gehirn, Ephire." she said their names, giving each a bow in respect and standing before them, unsure of what to do exactly. She had expect to simply leave the items and be on her way to leave them in peace. She knew Ephire very little and Gehirn even less along with Herla. Only recently had she tried to contribute and give some comfort at a distance. Not much of a cook herself since she simply ate what was already grown she took a place closer to the midnight pelted bull. Ephire was one she often looked up too and approached when she could, lightly pressing her nose at his withers area before looking to Herla and asking softly.
"How can I help? I've never cooked before."

Sighthoundlady's picture

Herla heard the rumbling

Herla heard the rumbling voices of the stags murmuring behind her as she conversed with the red doe, her ears swiveling briefly to try and catch what they said before directing her attention back to the red doe. “Oh well, this is all lovely and I have some stores to add to this as well.” she was already busy setting up her cooking supplies. The doe made due with what the forest had, she’d made waterproof baskets weaved from dried reeds to use for cooking. She set to making a small fire to heat the cooking stones that would be used to boil the water. Watching as she worked as the other doe laid out the other foods she had brought presenting them to Gehirn. The Irish, who was an omnivore wouldn’t likely be able to eat the grasses very well on his own, but there was no way Jettem could have known this so Herla silently made plans to mash and boil the tougher greens to make them edible for him as well. Cooking was for flavor and a way to show her love…but also to make foods that normally could not be eaten, edible for her mate who’s choices where often limited in the forest.

The cooking well underway, pleasant aromas where lifting into the air on the steam. Herla was sitting back tending the stew. Jettem asked if she could help, “You brought the foods, that was help enough,” she answered with a smile.
Mis's picture

Gehirn watched the crimson

Gehirn watched the crimson pelted doe move towards him and Ephiré. His chest seemed to rose ever so subtile; couldn’t slump in front of a doe, even if she was moreso a stranger. He curiously watched her drop down her goods. It was quite the amount, too. She had to carry that all the way? Devoted. He felt childish he had still not gotten up yet. As she addressed him and Eph, the giant got up. This was never an easy process, having to lift his heavy body up from the ground. But when he finally stood, he gave the doe a light bow. “Jettem.” The stag smiled, this time a lot more honest. His eyes fell on the leaves that had not left her fur as she tried to shake them off. “Need help with those?” His head nodded into their direction. “Anyway. Thank you for your gift, it seems you put quite some dedication to it.” The stag smiled still, silently inviting her to join him and his friend.
The smell of Herla’s cooking quickly hit his nose, whilst Jettem settled besides Ephiré. Gehirn’s head turned to watch the does odd trick, even though he had seen it happen a few times now. Sitting back in the sunspot himself as well, he watches the doe, but his ears are turned to their environment. Still watchful.
