She awoke to the shrill chirps of bats and the guttering of flickering candles. Safear had listened with intrest when the deer of the endless forest spoke of halloween. She had never experienced Halloween before and she greatly looked forward to the day, now as her claws clicked agenst the playground stones she marvled at the wonder of this holliday.

Her breath took its own shape in the fridged air, curling and twisting in smoky coils before her panting muzzle. Safear hated the cold, it froze her bones and dampened her senses. snorting with impatince she hurried along, seeking some form of shelter from the soupy cloud of fog she now traveled in. One may have snickered at the sight, for with her scaled hide and puffs of condensation that blew from her nose only wings would have turned her into a feathery dragon. At last reaching the old oak she hurridly scrambled inside, shakeing little droplets of water from her feathers. Several sleeping forms curled togeather in the small space, normaly Safear would have turn tail and left, the last thing she liked was to be packed in with strangers but one look outside and she knew that she would be miserable without the shelter. Sighing she plopped down on the dusty floor and tried in vain to see through the fog. Every now and then a fleeting shadow of another deer could be seen but other than that nothing stirred in the sea of endless white.

Safear felt the small tell-tale tremors of foot steps vibrate up through the ground. Absently she wondered who the stranger was, for with all this fog, scenting something or someone was nye impossible. Ah well, there are many deer in the forest it could be anyone.

Safear noted Fleur with surprise when she emerged from the fog, icy tendrils followed her as she made her way into the oak. Safear was about to say something but when Fleur sat near her she forgot the words that had momentarily danced upon her lips and greatfully snuggled up to the warm bundle of fur, though Safear being rather large in stature compared to her god-child, the warmth was appreciated and her numb limbs began to gain feeling once again.

Safear watched Fleur's scowl with concern. She had never been a parent before and was still a bit clumsy on the whole concept. "so.....um, Fleur? Is there something....wrong?" she paused waiting for a reaction, when none came she looked to the ground "You know you can always talk to me about it.....right?"

"Y'a know I'm always here, if your ever feeling lonely just track me down and we will make sure that feeling goes away." The next topic was a bit more touchy and it also struck a cord in Safear's own heart as well. For a moment she sat stareing out the opening, then reaching up with a hooked claw, she tugged off her mask and looked at Fleur.

"look at me Fleur, what do you see?" Without waiting for a reply she continued. "I see a preatator, a wolf living among sheep....The endless forest takes all kinds, that may be true and even the strangest of creatures here have found a mate, but they all had one thing in common, no matter how good or bad their soul it was still that of leara, of deer. Though I have a body of a deer I dont think I will ever really "be" one. No one wants to be mates with one such as I....." The fact hurt, it hurt horribly. But she knew it was true, and Safear would not let it tear her apart. She continued in a soft whisper.

"Ah, but when I look at you Fleur, I am so proud. I see a beautiful and kind young doe with a whole life time of oppertunities ahead of her. Although the features of wolf has merged with that of deer, you still have the heart of leara. I have no doubt you will find a mate, and that mate will love you more than anything, just like I do Fleur..." Leaning over she gave her God-daughter a warm nuzzle. "You needn't worry, just enjoy life and let fate take care of the rest."

Safear smiled, this parenting thing may not be so bad after all. "Thanks Fleur." she said quietly and even quieter she whispered "Who knows, anything can happen." She uttered the words as a kind of prair and hoped with more than she her heart that it was true. Casting a glance outside she was pleasently surprised to see that most of the fog had lifted, only leaving a few whispy ribbons trailing along the ground or drifting forlornly through the air. Yanking her mask back on, she jumped up and throwing a mishevious look at her daughter, firmly planted her feet at the entrance. "So Fleur, does that wolf in you make ya' any faster than average? It's cold and I'm bored, howsa bout a little race, hmm?"

"Sounds good!" crouching down Safear flattened her feathers and lashed her tail in excitement. Running was pure bliss, it had an uncanny way of wiping away troubles as you challenged the wind for the domincance of flight, yet you never left the ground....

(I think im gonna wait for Saf to find a mate on her own, as desperate as she acts I think there is someone out there for her. XD But if you want to do that for fleur, I think its a great idea! :3 P.s im sorry i have not been able to reply, as you know the site has been down for awhile. ^^;)

Safear felt all of her mucles tense, and she adjusted her stance slightly to better grip the ground. It true that she overreacted to just a little race, but by nature she was naturaly competitive. "2..." she murmurred under her breath. Fathomless blue eyes pinned themselves to Fleur as she spoke, waiting for the tinyest signal that betrayed movement, and there for the start.

(that would be good. Im glad too, this rp is very enjoyable and it really spoiled my day when I couldnt reply to it. XD)

Safear's pupils dialated in excitement, and she sank her claws deep into the soil as she rocketed ahead. Relishing in the fluid movement of her mucles sliding over one another in perfect harmony, she glanced over to the sleek figure running beside her. This is how it should be Safear thought, running with family. To her there was no higher pleasure.

(sadly I do not, after I downloaded the endless forest my mom forbade me from having anymore games on the computer. ;.; )

Safear could see the pale heads of the twin gods statue up ahead, with a sudden jolt of adrenaline she more than doubled her pace.

(ooh, i just thought of something, how do we decide who wins? O.O)

only after she had bounded several yards further did Safear realise that her running partner was no longer by her side. turning so eaisily that it almost seemed that she was heading one way and then the other she backtracked to the tangled heap of deer that lay on the ground. Genuinly concerned but most amused she stood silent nearby analizing her goddaughter with dark eyes. Satisfied that Fluer was uninjured, she directed her attention to the doe beside her. Safear did not know what passed for beauty among deer, but she definately admired this ones silky black hair and bright coloration.

Safear dipped her head in greeting. "Well met, Mariposa." Looking to Fleur she smiled. "It seems I have already been introduced."

Safear followed and akwardly nelt down on one knee, pressing her forhead to the earth, she murmered thanks to the twins. they had givin her so much and she didnt even know why. Who could guess the motives of spirit beings? Safear felt so peaceful, she began to whisper the names of her pack, carefully preserving their memories. Swift; cunning and a joker he always knew how to make someone laugh. Feather; quiet and withdrawn, her name reflected the unusualy large amount of feathers she had. Echo; the hatchling of the pack, his roudy games and constant pranks kept the family on their toes. Fang and talon; the inseperable twins, their whitty charm had made Safear blush more than once. and finnaly Jossecore; wise and kind leader, his soft side could make anyone feel comfortable, he pulled ahead as the alpha so young, about her own age.....Safear missed him the most.

She had no idea how long they had all knelt there among the ferns and butterflies, but when she rose Safear felt better than she had in a long time.

Safear watched smiling at the two. Warshiping at the statues had not affected her pelt. the gods had already marked her with white, permanently....

Safear called a farewell to the doe as she left "goodbye, my friend. Your company was a pleasuere and I very much hope to see you again."

Safear thought a moment. Then smileing she flicked her tail in a signal for Fleur to follow.

As they walked Safear chatted aloud, comfortable but aware, a habit she will never get rid of. "it's too bad that its too cold for a swim, i would really enjoy one right now."

The dull thud of moving feet filled the companionable silence that the pair had fallen into. The winters snapping chill prompted Safear to thank the gods that she had been graced with the benifit of being warm blooded, other wise winter in the endless forest might not be so peachy.

Fleur continued to trot after Safear as she looked from left to right observing the forest in its' wintery stage.

As Fleur's sky blue eyes searched the forest, she spotted the blue stag from a distance all alone. By her curious instinct, she trotted over in their direction. Then she approached him and said, "Hello! Why are you all alone?"

Safear followed her god-daughter a bit warily as they approached the stag.

Fleur bowed to him and smiled. She was still thinking of why he wasn't talking. She leapt onto the frozen ice of the pond and began to slide everywhere. "Come on!" she called to the blue stag. Then she called to her godmother Safear to come.

Fleur laughed as she was running across the ice on her paws with her toungue lolling out of her mouth.
