I guess this explains why I can never figure out who is who when I go looking.... I wonder what's wrong with my copy. The pictos are the same for the same people each time I log in (for example, I saw Karuna the other day (three squares and a rectangle) - we sat together for a little bit). I guess I ought to try reinstalling at some point.

I figured it might be something like that, since it's been a while since the last time I tried to get my computer to work with TEF, but I swear I had looked and it didn't look like there was an update that I didn't have :< I left some time after the second gen pictos came out... Weird.

Yep :< I just loaded the patch, so we'll see if it changes anything.
Ohh, I bet you're right, since the picto generations work the same! If that's the case, I can re-identify people by their 'secret name' if I sort it out with the old picto sets and transfer it to the second gen URL...

Edit: Just logged back in, and there are definately some pictos that I didn't see before, with symbols I didn't see before. I think at least one of them belongs to a deer I recognise by a different picto... So I think it worked!

Shaku, I just realized I knew you because you were posting on Makime's bio earlier. In fact I was just looking at Vodun's bio earlier and admiring it! Rock, it's so cool actually getting to know who some people are...

xD Ha! That explains the bit of magic Ravus saw earlier.... at one point Ravus was backing-up with Vodun and he teleported to another area of the pond. xD I'm glad you stuck around, sorry my deer kind of wimped out but I wanted to get this out there. I love the long-mask on deer with fun personalities. It's a great combo.

Edit: That's great news, Aivilo! Glad it was such an easy solution. It'll probably make using the map much easier, too.

I tried converting Karuna's picto from 1st gen to 2nd gen, and I got very close!

I'll try converting a few others, and maybe there's some sort of pattern for that small difference. It's one symbol -- the last character.

Haha, yeah, I have a terrible memory for pictos, too. Screenshots save me, though, when I can manage to dig up the right one.

I'm working on breaking the pictos into 'pieces,' with each character, right now. My computer decided to fatal error crash itself a second ago, but thankfully I didn't lose any of the past hour's work (phew).
It looks like some of the characters in 2nd gen have been based on 1st gen characters (for example, the side squares in Karuna's "1st gen" name above have become triangles in her actual picto - there's a set of four squares in 1st gen, and they correspond with 4 triangles in 2nd gen)

I don't know why I'm so curious about how all this works, all of a sudden, but it's interesting!
