As far as the actual game is concerned, once you understand the controls you've got most of what you need to know. The game is pure exploration and interaction with other players through deer body language, there is no objective except for one that you make for yourself.
The rest of The Endless Forest is mostly handled through this site, where players talk about their characters, roleplay, and make pictures of them.
Their pictogram is also used on their profile here. All you need to do is click on map, near the recent posts tab, and you can see who's online. THen look for your pic to and see if theirs is near it c: That's the only way to identify an in game deer as far as I know, unless you provide a screenshot and ask who they are around here.
You can click on "Map" on the menu bar on the left , on this Forum .
Then you can see who is in the forest and click on someones Pictogram .

It is a special spell who can be cast on you .
You need to get someone to sit with you in a Mushroom circle .
You need to stay and sit there for 5 minutes without moving the mouse and not move your deer .
Then you will fall asleep .
Now you have a new spell.
It can be an animal spell or this "Minideer" spell to cast on someone .
This can take a while because you get these spells by pure random .
Looks like AlisonRobin, cloudandis, and Flyleaf covered the basics already. (: Just wanted to say - Welcome to TEF! It's always nice to see new members. ^^
Also, I believe my deer hung out with you for a bit yesterday. I gave you some flowers and we hopped around and sat for a while c: It was nice meeting your fawn! If you ever want to hang out, feel free to approach any of my characters (you can find their Bio pages as well as their pictos on my Blog History)
Throwing in a welcome to TEF as well! It seems like a strange game but you'll pick up the controls in no time. :3 A lot of the time people interpret other deer actions in their own way, but some people will list down what certain actions mean on their character's bios.
Welcome aboard! As far as
