I'm honestly more upset that it's a Gen 1 picto - I joined TEF late, and just before they froze registration due to lack of pictos. I only have 2 Gen 1 pictos to work with, and they're already assigned to characters. That, and neither of them are even that pretty.
I just wish they could have found some what to keep using Gen 1 pictos - the Gen 2 ones are absolutely hideous, and the more I go to look at Gen 2 pictos to register, the more upset I get over it, rofl
I joined way after gen 1s, the one I have is from a close friend who gave it to me.
I agree, the gen one pictos are beautiful, like the creators took time to carefully make each one.
The gen twos look like they took a handful of lines and shapes, threw them down and said 'meh, good enough'
I can somewhat understand why they would have had to "rush" through getting new pictos out - the longer they held registration, the less players there would be.
But on the other hand, it just sucks that we have such sharp, jagged looking pictos, as opposed to gentle, flowing swirls and the like.
i agree with serendipity. :/ i don't know how the pictos are generated, but i think it's just random geometric shapes + a randomizer? at least, that's what it looks like to me whenever i go to look for a nice picto to register with.
I think many of the 2nd Gen pictograms are very elegant and appealing, personally. There are some gorgeous combinations.
There is no way that 1st Gen pictograms could replace the 2nd Gen pictograms again; every combination has been registered. The only way they could be offered for registration again is if M&A were to figure out some way for pictograms which are no longer used to go back into the mix. HOWEVER, since many players leave temporarily and return months, even years later, there is no way this could be automated while still being fair to the players.
Besides, what if you got landed with a pictogram which belonged to a troublemaker in the past? What a mess.
Really, a whole new generation of pictograms is the best - and fairest - way to go. Just keep clicking until you find one which suits your fancy :3
And I have discovered that it is always - ALWAYS - a good idea to check to see if a username is registered first. This is quick and easy to do; just copy/paste one of these URLs into your browser:
and add the username to the end.
The first one is CASE SENSITIVE, so it is probably safer to use the second one, which is not.
If the second link takes you to a blog page instead of a user name, it's also a good idea to add "-0" (no quotes) to the end of the URL just to make sure there isn't another page by that name. If there is, continue increasing the number at the end ("-1" "-2" etc). This way, you can guaruntee that you get the pictogram you want, and never lose it to the "already registered" problem again.
ditto
Mhmm, I know what you mean.
I didn't know you could still
No, you can't. Someone
Gen 1's are more or less luxury items now.
Oh, I seem to have
Yes, I notice Gen1 pictos seem much less...cluttered? Than Gen2 ones.
I think I'd actually be more upset if it ended up being a gen2 picto because I'd feel like I had just missed it.
