Story
(This is subject to irregular updates and revisions, separated by paragraph.)

His Mother? No one knew who she was or where she came from. She mysteriously entered the Forest during a mating season and, after her son was born, exited as quietly as she'd come, leaving the newborn fawn on his own. Cypress was raised, so to speak, by the rabbits in whose den he had been dropped. As he grew, he quickly began to notice how different he was, and as soon as his antlers had come in, he left the rabbits' den and set off on his own, to find his own kind. He would never forget the first deer he saw. It was a large stag with a butterfly pelt and a skull for a face. The young buck was so surprised and delighted at the strange appearance of this wonderful creature that he bellowed loudly and began to dance around him. He quickly learned that this was not the best way to make friends and that he would need to learn the language of these creatures who looked like him. Still a loner, the young buck galloped off through the forest in search of a friend who could help him understand...

After a few months among them, Cypress had met many interesting deer and was starting to learn their language, though he was still not fluent. One day, he met a particularly patient and generous stag called Prince with whom he became friends.

One night, Cypress awoke to find himself sleepwalking, his hoofsteps apparently guided by a forest spirit. At the ruins, he met Hex, who read his fortune in the stars and told him that he would be led on a quest by the spirits, which would bring him to an ancient chapel where he would be required to ring a bell and put all the spirits to rest. Let's see if he will be up to the task...

One day in the forest, Cypress met Big Bunny! He was so amazed at the sight of the bunny that he knelt down and worshipped him, believing at first that he was some sort of rabbit god. Afterward, the two of them became good friends.

After meeting the large zombie deer, that god of Death whom he had so adored, so longed to curl up beside and caress to sleep, Cypress was left with a mask made from the skull of a deer --he considered it a gift, a blessing -- and he fell into a deep sleep. When he awoke three days later, it was raining. He stood up, stiff and shivering from the cold, and looked around. To his amazement, he saw all around him enormous, glowing mushrooms with bright red caps, dotted with white. He praised the gods for yet another gift and trotted off into the rain to find something to eat...

Cypress was sad to see the mushrooms go, but he had to admit to himself that nothing lasts forever, and that there is a time and place for every event. This realization led him to the decision to return home and visit his family.

After a long visit with his Rabbit family, Cypress finally decided that it was time for him to return to his own kind in the Forest. This just so happened to be the holiday time in which deer were feasting and exchanging gifts, and he felt a bit lonely, not knowing many other deer. He sat alone by the edge of the pond, watching other deer play with their friends. He tried to communicate with another buck he met in a patch of flowers, but he had not yet fully mastered Deer language and must have said something offensive, because the buck began shaking his head and rearing up at him. Cypress took the hint and went to worship at one of his favourite spots -- the idol of the Twin Gods -- to get out of the other buck's way. I am lonely for the company of deer, he said. I wish to learn their ways and assimilate into their culture so that I may freely make friends with others of my kind. After praying, he wandered off into the forest again and lost track of the time, eventually falling asleep.

Cypress had heard legends of two-legged creatures that used to rule the world and that sometimes, if an animal was very lucky, one might find leftover bits of these strange creatures' culture. He knew that the cemetery in the Forest and De Drinkplaats were remnants of this ancient civilization, and his brother Mazus even had a small collection of things he called "books," which contained stories and records of knowledge made by the two-leggeds. However, he never expected to stumble upon one of his own. One day while meandering through the Forest, the young stag happened upon a rectangular item lying stuck under the root of a tree and covered in fallen leaves. It was coated in a thick layer of dirt and even had some moss growing on the cover, but after pawing at it for a moment, he realized what it was. The book had a picture of a rabbit on the cover, and, remembering a little of what Mazus had taught him, Cypress was able to discern the title Watership Down. Excited by his discovery, he carried the book in his mouth and trotted off to his favourite spot to try to read it.

Later that day, Cypress met a young fawn named Khyzer in the Forest and decided to take him under his wing, so to speak, as a sort of "little brother" and gave him the nickname Orange Slice. Cypress and Khyzer became close buddies, the older buck teaching the younger all he would need to know about survival in the Forest.

One night, while out for a walk, Cypress met Flora, and after talking with her for a bit, agreed to take her to meet his family. Cypress agreed to teach Flora how to speak Lapine, and in return, she will help him with his Cervine vocabulary. The Rabbits keep teasing him about his new "girlfriend," although he has already explained to them that she is only a friend. (That's not to mention the fact that he still secretly has feelings for Velocity. xP)

Many deer in the Forest were celebrating the coming of the new year with their annual Festival of Lights. Cypress wanted to join in the festivities but was caught up in other activities and arrived too late for candle antlers. He was slightly disappointed but partied with the remaining deer nonetheless. The next morning he woke up with several layers of new pelts and ridiculous purple flowers on his antlers; but, being a good-natured sort of deer, he simply laughed and sneezed them off until he felt he was pretty again. This year, he made a resolution to stop being so shy and interact more with other deer.

The first day of the year, the Gods entered the Forest. Cypress was excited and happy when the sky began to change colours and objects to appear out of nowhere. With Michael's visit, the candles returned to the Playground, and Cypress was able to pick some up to put on his antlers. Feeling more festive, he continued to party with more vigor.

The next morning, he was so hungover that he accidentally fell into the water while trying to cross the bridge and lost his beloved skull mask to the murky depths of the pond. He searched desperately for it but was unable to retrieve his most prized possession. Feeling angry, he sat by himself and sulked for nearly an entire day until his friend Flora found him and cheered him up.

Finally reaching full maturity, Cypress lost his fawn spots for good, and his fluffy hide became sleek, dark, and striped.
Soon after, he fell ill, and many months passes that he did not see any of his friends.

When he returned to the Forest, Cypress was heartbroken to find that his friend Flora had passed away. He and his family brought flowers to her final resting place, and he sat there for days in mourning.

Wandering down to the stream to get a drink, Cypress noticed a small fawn beside the crying idol and started talking to her. She told him that her name was Palila and that she had no family. Cypress almost immediately became attached to the fawn and took her home with him, adopting her into the Rabbit family.

Cypress befriended a Forest spirit named Fern.

While on an outing to the Pond, Cypress lost track of Palila and Moss and went looking for them. He found Palila with her close friend Cian and was introduced.
Cypress finds his parental instincts growing as he grows more and more fond of the little elf-child.

One night, Flora came to Cypress in a dream and told him that her soul had been reborn as Palila. When he heard this, he made a solemn promise to never part with her and to protect her always. However, when he awoke, he could not find his daughter anywhere and is now in a state of panic and despair. In an effort to distract himself from his loss, he assisted La and friends in caring for the baby alien that hatched from the egg by the Crying Idol.

Accompanying La, Isca, and a new friend -- Peppino -- to the Human world, he helped bring a cow into the forest to feed the nubbin. He wants to name the cow Silymarin, after a flowering plant that produces a milk-like substance.

After the cow incident, Cypress took leave of the Forest and went on a soul-search alone. Along the way, he met an older stag named Paul, who helped him practice speaking Cervine until he became fluent in the language. He is now returning to the Forest in the hope of making more deer friends and perhaps finding a mate.

Oh wow, truly?
To be honest, I always thought Plague Dogs was a little kid's movie compared to Feidae XD
I had nightmare from watching Felidae.
I cannot think of anything darker than that film!
I really love Plague Dogs though.
If you ever wish to watch it then come to me and tell me what you think
I watched it with my little siblings and parents once, and they thought it was fine!
But I think Arashi no Yoru Ni tops them all.
I could watch that move repeatedly to no end
And the English version has the best movie credits song like. Ever.

I was afraid of it at first though, but since I adored Watership Down I had faith enough to try it.

______________________________

She was still clumsy on her new rabbit feet, tripping over herself with each attempt at a swift hop. As a result, she found herself mainly inching through the tall grass. Crawling, tripping, incing...that was how the rabbit doe got around. It was not as if she could be blamed, for she had only been revived for only a few days, so far, with only the memories of her past life in her head; the life plagued by endless ice. It was ironic, really, and a little silly to her now, how her name had always been "Flora", and yet her past life held powers that did anything but honor her name. Now, she was a creature that nibbled at her namesakes. This thought was more pleasant, though she could not deny that her new smaller body, even if she was a bit large for her new species, that the world was a little bit frightening. Everything was huge compared to what it used to be, and there were now creatures wandering about that she could have never imagined existing in the Forest.
So, she had to be careful.

Finally, Flora made it to the Blue Bowl. Even in this new life, she was still drawn to this beautiful, peaceful part of the Forest. She began to nibble at the grass, which was quite sweet; sweeter than she remembered it. She kept her large ears perked instinctively while she fed, hoping no danger would approach.

(Oh geez I rambled in most of this post XD I am so sorry for my derpage.)

Adrien was lying in the shade of a tree, just relaxing one day, when he thought he smelled a familiar scent. He looked around with brow furrowed in concentration, trying to remember what it was that the smell reminded him of, but it faded away as soon as it had come, and he was left stumped.
Surely it's nothing, he thought to himself. I must have just imagined it. He continued to laze about and tried to put the thought out of his mind.

As the day drew long, though, he couldn't stop thinking about it and racking his brain for the answer. "What was that smell?" he asked himself aloud as he stooped by the river to drink.

(Dooo eeeet) Once the doe's

(Dooo eeeet)

Once the doe's belly was full, Flora took a little bit of time to groom herself and bask in the sun. Due to her white fur, the heat was not as bothersome as it could be, although the canopy's shade was still greatly appreciated. Avoiding glowing sunspots was the main goal when it came to finding shade, thankfully.

Just as she peeked her head from the shelter of the tall plants, her pink nose began to twitch uncontrollably. She could catch the scent of another in the air...an oddly familiar scent. It was strange; especially since it caused her heart to pick up its pace.
"What is that smell?" She asked herself. For the first time since her rebirth, Flora dropped caution and darted through the forest, following the scent until she came to the river, where she saw a figure taking refreshment in the cool, flowing water. At first, all she could see was a mere stag. But then, she saw his stripes.
She could feel her heart in her ears.
Flora knew him...she knew the stag that was standing there. But could it truly be real? Was it who her heart was telling her it was? Was it truly the first best friend that had brought her warmth and a sense of family, back when she was a hoofed creature?
"A..Adri..en...?" Her voice murmured. The rabbit's ears dropped to the sides of her skull, and her eyes glistened as she gazed upon him in pure awe; emotion not yet fully taking over herself as it was forced to freeze before a wall of shock.

Narcissus's picture

((OMG, you're so mean. I

((OMG, you're so mean. I read that comic, and it broke my heart. xD such a great story, though!))

At the sound of his name, Adrien's ears perked up and he stood alert. "Who said that?" He didn't notice at first that the voice did not sound Cervine, and he was confused as he scanned the area at head-level but found no one.

Stepping away from the water, he continued to swivel his head back and forth, searching for that sweet voice. The scent he'd nearly forgotten earlier was stronger now, and he found himself burning with the desire to locate her. Could it really be her? No, of course not... that's impossible. His heart hurt at the thought of the love he'd lost twice before, and his logic demanded that he not think of her, but his emotion was stronger and won out this time, allowing his hesitant voice to softly call out...

"F-flora?"

(( X''D I am so sorry! But

(( X''D I am so sorry! But yeah I love the story! And the art style <3 ))

There it was: the voice she never thought she would hear, again. She had to pause and perk up her ears in order to let the sound truly sink into her, and once it did, she could barely feel her own heart beating, for it was pounding too fast for her mind to catch. Nearly breathless, she rabbit doe bounded forward towards the figure; droplets falling from her large eyes.
”A-Adrien....Adrien! Adrien..!” she exclaimed; her voice escaping in gasping sobs.
Narcissus's picture

The sight of the rabbit doe

The sight of the rabbit doe bounding toward him, shouting his name, was a shock for Adrien. Her appearance was so different from that of the kind, lovely deer he'd known before, that he didn't recognize her. Yet, somehow, he knew that it was Flora. How could it not be her? Her scent was the same, and the way she looked at him... The delicate feathers intertwined with her fur were the same as well. But how could this have happened? His brain couldn't comprehend what he was seeing before his eyes, but his heart knew, and it took over control of his body then, flinging him toward the one being that he loved more than all others in the Forest.

"Flora!" he cried out. "Flora, I can't believe it's really you! I thought I would never see you again!" Tears were streaming down his face as he knelt before her and gazed into her violet eyes.

Flora's heart was so loud in

Flora's heart was so loud in her ears that she almost missed the sound of him calling her name, and yet the world around her seemed to hold its breath as she collided with her beloved old friend; the one who made her stomach flutter with butterflies. Now, she felt like she could soar.
Leaping onto his face, she grabbed him with her paws and cried into his forehead, unable to take it all in at once. It was wonderfully overwhelming, and her body was shaking like that of a newborn kit.
"A-Adrien..." she whimpered, almost forgetting how to speak.
"I...I missed you so much! I-I never thought I'd..." Flora can barely speak through her sobs. She silences herself, nuzzling into Adrien.
Narcissus's picture

The big stag lay down on the

The big stag lay down on the ground and wrapped a front leg around his small friend, letting her tears mingle with his and soak into his beard. He hummed to her softly, a song he had written for her long ago, in an attempt to soothe and calm her.

"It's so good to see you again, my old friend," he said after a while. Then, looking at her with a smile, he begged, "Please, tell me all you know. How did you return to the forest? And... why are you a rabbit?" He blushed.

The hum calmed her down, but

The hum calmed her down, but also sent a mysterious warm chill down her spine. She eased herself from him slightly so that she could gaze into his eyes with her glistening violet orbs. She looked away briefly, collecting mentally what the gods had told her, or at least had attempted to tell her.
“The...the gods...they said I was not ready to move on. They said...that this was my last chance..” She pressed her forehead against his, smiling as she too began to blush.
“Why they sent me here as a rabbit…? That, I am unsure of. Even so, you’re here...so I guess it makes sense” she chuckled, bashfully.
Narcissus's picture

Adrien stifled a giggle. It

Adrien stifled a giggle. It was quite interesting that the gods had decided to send his best friend back to him in the form of a rabbit when he had such a connection with that species. Out of curiosity, he just had to ask, "What's it like being a rabbit?" He had always wondered but knew that it would do no good to ask any of his family members, because they had never been deer before and would have no experience for comparison. Flora was another story altogether, though. She had once been a larger hoofed being like him; he could only imagine what she must feel now, being a small fluffy animal.

Flora smiled at his question.

Flora smiled at his question. She realized how in the past, she had always seen him as a rabbit in the fur and flesh of a deer, especially with how his family was. She found it a little funny how she, of the two would have the experience of being placed in a rabbit’s body to live out a whole life. She paused a moment, taking in the answers.
“It’s...not too different from how it was, before, but...at the same time, it’s very different.” Her eyes shift away from him to look out into the distance, attempting to explain best she can.
“Everything is...bigger, almost faster; more alive. Your heart’s quicker, and your nose is swifter. Your legs are constantly itching to bound.”
Narcissus's picture

He followed her gaze and

He followed her gaze and found himself staring off into the distance, almost out of the Forest and into a world beyond. He was quiet for a moment, but then very softly, as if by accident, he said,

"I knew it." Then, snapping back into reality, he added "I always feel that way when I sleep. I see it in my dreams."

The stag smiled at his friend, happy that she seemed comfortable in her new life. He almost envied her, but he would never admit it. He was adjusting well to life as a Deer and finally felt he could call the entire Forest his home.

Flora looked at him,

Flora looked at him, curiously. She had a bit of amusement dancing in her eyes at the mentioning of his dreams.
"You are a rabbit in your dreams...aren't you?" She asked him with a smile, tilting one ear at the side of her skull. She could vaguely remember visiting him in a dream once, but only once, and it was so blurred in the back of her memory, that she could barely remember it.
Nevertheless, she can see much more joy and comfort in his eyes than she remembered. This caused her smile to broaden, realizing that in her absence, Adrien had down much growing.
Narcissus's picture

"Well, yes, but..." he

"Well, yes, but..." he smirked and switched to the language of his species, continuing in a comically exaggerated deep voice, "I am Deer now. Learned much about our culture from Papa Deer."

He grinned at her, hoping to impress her with his fancy deer-talk, as he remembered the time when they'd first met and taught each other what they knew. Back then he could barely form a coherent sentence in Cervine, and now here they were, roles nearly reversed. He had learned so much about being a Deer, and now his friend knew more than he ever would about life as a Rabbit.

(Do not panic! I am only

(Do not panic! I am only half/dead /shot)

---------------------------

And boy, was she impressed. Her ears perked to their highest state, and her eyes glistened. She could remember how uncertain Adrien was about being a deer back in their past, but now he seemed not only confident about his physical form, but in his species’ tongue as well. He could speak more than Lupine now, and she felt a great pride within herself for him.

”That’s so wonderful, Adrien!” she replied joyfully, placing a paw on the bridge of his nose. Then something caught her attention in her thoughts. She tilted her head, and an ear followed.

”Papa deer? her eyes gradually widen at the processing thought.

"Did you...did you meet your biological father..?”

By the way, I am improvising the Papa Deer story now, as I have not yet fully written it out or found someone else to roleplay it with me, so I guess I'm just going to make it up as I go.))

"I did!" the stag exclaimed excitedly. "He is Paul, prince of Mushrooms. He teached me better Deer-speak, and now I have much more Deer friends." His tail wagged as he dished out the details of his encounter with that mysterious individual who looked so much like him.

(( Heck no! XD I've just been

(( Heck no! XD I've just been really busy. Senior year is closing up and I'm trying to distance myself from distractions lol ))

"Oh, that's so exciting! What was it like? Does he look like you?-- Do you look like him?" Flora asked excitedly. She had never imagined that it was possible for Adrien to meet his biological father, although something did come to mind once she finally spilt her first two questions.
"Does your rabbit family know? What did they think...?" she added, though with slight hesitance.
Narcissus's picture

The stag nodded, smiling.

The stag nodded, smiling. "He have eyes like mine," he said. "Purple eyes. His nose is long too. And we have dark fur." Thinking about the Rabbits, he trailed off and was quiet for a bit, staring off into the unknown. After a silence that seemed like years, he finally answered.

"Papa Rabbit has gone with Velocity," he said in Lapine. "I left home for a while and met my father during that time. When I returned, everything was so different... Mama is old and grey now, and my brothers and sisters have all grown up and had kits of their own. Even little Moss and Alyssum are not so little anymore. It's only a matter of time before they too start their own families... I haven't been back there in a few weeks."

His eyes seemed glossed over as he stared off into the distance, wondering if any of the Rabbits were missing him right now. Suddenly he snapped back into the present, remembering the lovely doe beside him. He smiled at her and said "But now I have you back, everything is right again."

"Ohh, Adrien.." Flora

"Ohh, Adrien.." Flora murmured when she heard his tale. As she looked into his eyes, she could catch them glisten as he described what had happened to his rabbit family. As happy as she was for him meeting his biological father, she hoped that everything was alright with the family that raised him.

Her eyes slightly widened at his comment. Her presence meant that much to him? The thought made heat rush to her ears and cheeks, and she couldn't help but smile.
"Adrien...I cannot describe how happy I am to be by your side, again. She leaned against his fur, bashfully lowering her ears as she looked aside in thought.

"I...I would like to, maybe some time...meet your family, again.."
