A few years ago when TEF was newer, there would be times when I would log in and couldn't find anyone else online, or only one or two sleeping deer in the whole forest.
The server was only built to handle 50 players at its maximum, but there are days when there are 70 players or more online at a time. It starts to crash and have problems if the population gets too high, however.
I don't know an exact number for the most players online at once.
I can only imagine how lonely it was way back when the game was newer. You sign in and nobody's on... And the map was tiny, too, since I went looking for old TEF pics. o-o maaaaan. No blue bowl?! What is this madness?! >:I

Someone in the world loves you more than you could ever truly imagine.
I've seen days in forest, usually holidays when there's an abiogenisis, where there's so many deer in forest that the game server essentially crashes. Over 100 have to be squeezed in for that to happen.
