Hello out there (And out of character inquiry on how to not make a butt of one's self)

felidaries's picture
Um I guess I just wanted to say hello! I've been playing on a dud account for a few weeks and finally decided to sit down and make a legitimate deer in the forest with you lot.
It's a very relaxing game and it's been a lot of fun so I look forward to getting to know everyone and making friends and memories with you all.

I guess in the end I think I might need some help making the blog look a tad nicer and maybe figuring out what I should do with a character. Any ideas or thoughts? Anything that people tend to look down on
(Fauns? Centaurs? Jackalopes? angst!deer? abandoned!deer? loves Mondays!deer?)

Oh and I suppose the last thing I should ask is should I make IC!Posts with a title IC or OOC posts with an OOC title? Should I make any IC/OOC posts at all? Are there Role-Play aspects to the blog that I should be aware of and if that's the case should I know the proper etiquette (if there is any) to any mature posts that could happen (wink wonk)

Basically I was hoping to learn the ropes. I've been floating around the forums for proper in-game behavior and seemed to pick that up well enough, but I was hoping to get a little help here o3o

Thanks again everyone!
~Felidaries.

Welcome to TEFc! Frankly,

Welcome to TEFc!

Frankly, anything goes in the forest. There is such a variety of creatures, it doesn't matter what you want to play. Human-faced deer, horses, deer-faced deer, I have seen a few fauns around, things with wings, crocodiles that are in the water, skull faces, skeleton beings, hybrids...you name it!

Just do whatever your heart desires!

http://www.endlessforest.org/community/tefc-directory this may help you with more technical needs and such Smiling

If you want to make a seperate blog for IC, just call it something like "'s Roleplay Blog!" But many people just use their bio pages for rp ^^

And if you have any other questions, just ask~

Hope to see you in forest!

Welcome!
It's (usually!) pretty hard to offend (most of!) the folks here.
Here are some more technical questions and answers. You can find links regarding the CSS ("prettying" blogs) there in the community section and on the linked directory blog.

The only character type that is consistently frowned upon is one who is relentless, hates the world, and/or is invincible (basically your god-mod characters). That's not to say that your character can't have any of those traits - just be aware that not everyone may want to play that way, and you'll have to take some checks and balances into consideration to make it a believable character you're happy to play on a regular basis and don't want to throw out after a week.

Blog titles are pretty much free-for-all, though if you are seeking roleplay it's usually best to label the blog with something to the extent of "interaction/roleplay blog" or "roleplay - all welcome" or "private roleplay for ___ and ___" or somesuch. It also helps if you label your character's biography with "bio" or "biography" and the character's name somehow, so that people can find it easily. The most common trend seems to be to find a phrase or sentence, and put the character's name in brackets or something somewhere in the middle, lol. Dunno why, but it's popular. I've done it, too.

Yeeees @.@ There is a HUGE range of ages here. I've seen players as young as 8 and 11, and they are active within the community. As such, the players generally try to keep the most mature subjects (such as, ahem, "bonking") off-site and restricted to Skype or E-mail or whatever, since there is no PM system. Foul language and mature content is usually fine in your own blogs if you post a clear warning that such language and themes will be present at the top of the blog, or in others' blogs where such a warning is in place. When in doubt, I find it best to err on the side of caution and just use good judgment.

At any rate, this is how I've seen things work over the years, and it's not the only or the best answer out there. You'll probably get 20 differing opinions on any given subject (particularly the 'touchy' ones such as mature content). Again, use your best judgment and have fun :3

Hi there! Glad you decided to

Hi there! Glad you decided to join the community, more people are always welcome. You seem to be off to a good start already.~

I know there are some character development help posts out there, but unfortunately I don't have them bookmarked. :c
This page is really helpful for making your blogs/character bios look fancy!

This page is pretty neat for begining to rough out a character's appearance and behavior.
One of the main important "rules" here is to be polite. Being observant helps a great deal, of course. For mature content, usually players just put a warning at the top of their blog entries or do the more graphic stuff off-site on Skype or AIM.
I hope this helps. <3

Oh man thanks for all of

Oh man thanks for all of this! This is really helpful and I think I just found a way to waste my entire Tuesday haha.

I'm so excited to be part of the community, everyone here seems so so nice-

OH! I almost forgot, what's the policy on more than one character? Is it common to just make an entirely new account, simply save a different design, just post a new blog entry as said different character?

Many people have separate

Many people have separate pictos for their other characters. It's nice to ask the community for a picto if you want to do that. It's frowned upon to just make new pictos, but people do it anyway. But as I said, there are plenty of people who have unused pictos and are willing to give them away or trade for them.
