Mariposa ran through the calm forest, though her heart was filled with terror and anxiety. Another one of her panic attacks. She doesn't know how it happens to her. It's more like random flashbacks of her prince charming and when she is reminded (from those flashbacks) why in the world she is here, it's as if she's ashamed and angry at herself.
~How dare I forget! Why could I forget the very core of the reason in which I am here?! I swear I'll never forget. EVER. I must keep looking for him. Oh, my prince charming, where are you?!!!~ Mariposa thought in distress.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
XD I don't really care which of your deer would interact/see her ^U^
Ocean~ Sure! : D Here we
One morning came, an ordinary morning in the past, for our crows are still alive and our stag is still young. Bartleby pushed the door of his shed open and went about his business, wandering through the thickets and such until he came upon a red stag. It was quite by accident, and the stag clearly saw him. Slowly, the white fawn tried to slink away...
[Sounds fine to me. xD I
The Priest's ears went up, seeing the odd little fawn. It seemed the creature wore the pelt of his Gods-and it didn't glow as it normally did, nor did it fade. Being curious [and having a soft spot for fawns], the Priest called out calmly, "Good day, little one. Will you come over here and sit for awhile? Do not worry. I am not the type to harm a fawn."
He smiles, gray eyes lighting up with warmth. It had been much too long since he had sat and spoken with a fawn anyhow.
Bayleen~ Let's do it! > O I
Turkey was grazing in his usual spot in his clearing. The crows and Bartleby had gone off to their own duties, and he had already finished his own. All was peaceful until a sudden rustle of leaves broke the silence. A doe carelessly broke through the the thicket and was running across the clearing straight at the creamy brown stag. Turkey, too startled to move, was suddenly knocked over to the ground.
Ocean~ Bartleby was
Bartleby was stupified, a deer, asking to sit with him? The only deer that had ever shown true kindness to him was Turkey, and that was only because he couldn't understand the Gods in the first place. Reluctantly, the golden-hoofed fawn slowly walked over and sat beside the old-looking stag. His little body was absolutly rigid, preparing for any sort of trap that might have been involved.
(xD YAYZ!!!) Mariposa was
Mariposa was immediately knocked out of her absent-minded panic attack when she had accidentaly toppled over the stag. She clumsily skidded to a halt and ran to the stag, her extremely long, shiny black hair flowing behind her. The gentle doe knelt down beside him.
"Oh! Oh my goodness I'm so sosooo sorry!!! Are you injured? I'm so scatter-brained.."
The Priest smiled, eyes
The poor little thing seemed scared still, which concerned the Priest. Tsk, as if he would hurt a fawn!
"You seem rather nervous. If you are worried that I might harm you, I would not. I am simply curious. Your pelt is of the Gods, yet fawns cannot often keep it. I am intrigued...though I will not press you if the matter is sensitive." He remains polite, studying the little deer. He wasn't feeling the sickness that generally was a precursor to some sort of inner darkness in a deer or if he was he assumed it must be very light. The fawn must be alright, then.
Bayleen~ The stag found
The stag found himself staring up at quite the pretty doe. Of course, being Turkey, he never really grasped the idea of sexual appeal, and just took the doe as a possible new friend. The stag quickly jumped back to his feet and said, "Hiya! Nono, I'm fine, It's okay, who're you? I'm Turkey." his voice and mannerisms had a very child-like air about them, instantly protraying his... well... rather low intelligence...
Ocean~ The fawn seemed to
The fawn seemed to tense up even more at the request, not out of fear, but of anger. To him, the stag was belittling him, calling him things like 'Little one'. He was suddenly ashamed of his cowardly behavior from before. He sprang up and faced the stag head-on. "I'm MASTER... (he put a great pause here to indicate his importance)... Bartleby. Not a whimpering fawn." his voice didn't betray his anger. In fact, it just kept the same smug air that Bartleby usually had. With this, he stood to his full height to try and imitade the great stag
The Priest smiled patiently.
"Now, will you please sit again? If you are not quite a fawn, then I am even more curious." He sits again, hoping the small one would follow suit. An impetuous little thing it was, too! However, he was curious about Bartleby, so for now he likely would not scold him.
It wouldn't help anyhow.
Mariposa gave a bit of a sigh
But Mariposa stumbled over her own words, not knowing what to say.
When the stag had towered
When the stag had towered over the little fawn, Bartleby knew almost instantly that he would even beat his Turkey in a fight. He wasn't afraid, and even if he was, he would not admit it. He really more or less felt a slight unease. He sat down right front of the old stag and stared at him suspiciously, still thinking that the stag would just crush him if he even once let his guard down. "What do you want to know?" he simply asked. He would figure out this stag's game...
Bayleen~ Turkey smiled and
Turkey smiled and nodded seemingly at random as she went through her mutterings before saying, "Golly, I'm just glad you didn't get hurt, neither Mar...Mari..." he seemed to have a bit of trouble saying her name. "Mari. S'okay if I call ya Mari, right?"
The Priest chuckles softly.
"Hmm. What would I like to know? I suppose I am quite curious first of all as to whether you are a fawn or not."
Mariposa giggled over the
"Sure. You can call me Mari. I don't mind :3" Mariposa replied.
Ocean~ Bartleby didn't even
Bartleby didn't even flinch. He knew, he knew what the stag planned to do. 'Nothing dark'? Bartleby wondered what that meant, but frankly didn't care. He saw that the stag was looking in the direction of the Twin God's statue. He was a worshipper of the Gods. Bartleby bristled in apprehension and paused before finally saying "Yes..." He was lying of course, after all, who knows what the stag would do to him if he found out he wasn't a fawn. Bartleby shuddered inwardly, he wished that he had taken Turkey with him...
"I see." He looks back at the
"You are still apprehensive. Might I ask why I worry you?" He tilts his head, studying the...whatever that fawn was. His ears went back and he sighed, wondering if he should tell the fawn a little about himself to set him at ease. Perhaps not, though. He didn't care to talk much about himself, and besides, he needed to know about this fawn.
Bayleen~ Turkey was
Turkey was delighted. A new friend! And a chance to talk to her! The crows and his Master were convieniantly away for the day. He walked up and began to clean off specks of dirt off her flanks from when she fell. After all, his job was to be a cleaner, he was sure his Master wouldn't mind if he helped someone else out.
"Oh...hehe. Thank you.."
Ocean~ Bartleby saw the
Bartleby saw the glace the stag had made. He wondered to himself, "Was he being punished too?". Gradually, he began to loosen up a bit more after a few moments of silence. He decided to ask, "Why don't you run from me?" It was a reasonable question. Practically all deer, excluding deer like Turkey, ran from Bartleby in fear. The old stag didn't seem too harmful now that he looked at him. If there was any danger, he could easily outrun him to safety in his shed. He daintily lifted his filthy hoof and licked it clean.
Bayleen~ It took a while
It took a while before Turkey noticed that she was cleaning off him as well, just in a different way. "Whoa!" he sprung back from her and looked positively astounded. "Are you... Are you a cleaner too? Who's your Master?" he asked. To think he would find a cleaner like himself! He was nearly quivering with glee.
"Cleaner? Master?" Mariposa
"I do not run from you simply
"Now, to the matter of my curiosity, might I ask how you have such a pelt? If you do not wish to answer me, I will understand. All deer have subjects they wish not to speak about." For a moment, his eyes are clouded with memories, but he quickly shakes it off, curious about the fawn's answer?
Bayleen~ Turkey lowered his
Turkey lowered his head in dissapointment for a few seconds before brightening up again at her question. "Yup!" he exclaimed. "Master Bart...Bart...le...by!" he seemed proud of himself. "I just call him Master though..." if he was a human, he would've shrugged with indifference. "Wait... if you ain't a cleaner or a Master...." Turkey's eyes widened. "Then... what are you?" he seemed amazed at the very idea that a deer could be something besides the two.
"Well...It's quite a long
Ocean~ Bartleby decided to
Bartleby decided to answer, why not? "I have it because I... I did something wrong... Me and Jer-..." the fawn stopped abruptly in the middle of his own sentence, a blush of embarassment creeping over his white face. He sharply turned his head aside, hoping that the stag wouldn't think lowly of him for getting emotional. After a while, he continued. "The Gods didn't like it, they gave me this. Anything else?" he was still flustered. Mentioning... him... was something that Bartleby did only when he was alone, not even around his crows for Turkey did he mention that name.
Bayleen~ A story. Turkey
A story. Turkey loved stories. Every night, Bartleby would always tell Turkey stories that he had heard a million times over, and now this nice doe was offering to tell him a new one! He nodded vigorously. "Golly! Sure! I love stories! Come on, let's sit down." he plopped to the ground in a single motion and looked up at her expectantly.
The Priest sighs. "Whatever
Then again...He shook away the clinging memories. This day had brought back too many.
"I will not press you for details, Master Bartleby. I believe you have answered most of my questions. If you have anything to ask me in return, then, perhaps I might answer. Though if you would rather not listen to the ramblings of an old fool, that would be understandable." The soft chuckle comes back for a moment and the gray eyes light up, though the emotion within them is a confusing mixture of sadness, hatred, and a bit of happiness.
Ocean~ Bartleby was even
Bartleby was even more stunned than before. This old stag... he forgave him almost as easily as Turkey would forgive him for something he said. He hid his excitement over finding another deer that seemed to accept him. "Okay... Um.. what's your name?" the pretty fawn asked. "You asked for mine, but you never gave me yours..." Bartleby found himself moving closer to the old stag, feeling a bit more comfortable. He was just glad he was so old, he proabably didn't even hear that little slip of the tongue he made about... well... that...
[Quite honestly, I'm
The Priest lowers his head a little. "My real name, I no longer use. However, I go by the title of Priest. You might call me that, if you wish." The stag smiles and settles a bit closer to the small fawn. Hm, somehow angered the Gods? Yet, the little fawn held nothing bad about him. How very curious that was. Could the Gods have forgiven him in part? Perhaps he had already been punished for his actions fully.
Then the thought that had been plaguing his mind came back to him, and he took a sharp breath. What if the Gods...had not abandoned just him, but the whole forest? He shook his head, chasing the thoughts away. His eyes focused on an old scar from a fight.
Had he gotten all of these for nothing?
"Anything else you would care to ask?" The smile was warm and friendly as always.
[Whoops. Longer post is longer. o_o'']
Ocean~ Pfft, as long as he
Bartleby noticed his gaze. "Your scars... Do you fight much? Do they fester? I have a cleaner that-..." he stopped again. Why was he being so laid-back? Or better yet, was he getting close to the Priest? Priest... that's what he said to call him. A strange name. Bartleby was starting to feel inferior again, it didn't make him feel uneasy this time though. He noticed the stag's gentle gaze on him. "No... you don't have to tell me about that... Nevermind... I just..." Bartleby didn't know what to say. Part of him wanted to invite the stag to his home, for him to meet his Turkey and his crows, but another part of him knew that would never happen. The stag was a loner, and it seemed that the fawn had only met him by lucky chance
Longer post is beat by even longer post (I think)
Mariposa smiled and lied down
"Well, it was such a long time ago that I don't remember too much of it," Mariposa admitted, blushing. "But I'll do my best to remember.
"You see, about two years ago I was a human. I was in a whole different universe from here. I was more than just a human..I was a princess. My mother and father -the king and queen- wanted to have a daughter. Sadly, my mother could not concieve a child. So they went to a witch in the forest for help. She said that she would grant them a baby girl. However, when the baby girl turned sixteen, she must be betrothed and have a child. So as payment for her granting my parents' wish, she would take my baby , or soon-to-be baby, as her own. They agreed.
"So years later at sixteen years old, my parents had forgotten all of they're agreement. When the time came for me to be betrothed and have a child, I did not have a husband- let alone ANY relationship with a man. Ever. That was very surprising for my parents because I was the most beautiful in all the land- as everyone thought so. Thus, the witch took me and put me in a tower so tall no man could get in.
"When I begged and begged for her to take me back to my family, she declined. She wasn't evil, nor did she look menacing. But soon...I learned how it wasn't that bad...living in such isolation. She had given me a bed, a bookcase, and instruments, and a few other things for entertainment. I was so thankful for her. So I allowed her to come into my life.
"I'll never forget her. She taught me how to be a woman, of... everything. In the sixteen years I lived in the palace with the royal family, they NEVER taught me of those manners. Only how to be "princess-y". I adressed the witch as "mother." But unfortunately, I never knew her name.
"Anyways, about a year later. I was gazing out of my shield-shaped opening, observing the beautiful land and wildlife. I could see everything! Oh, I think you would've loved it, Turkey. I could see the rolling hills, the ocean, the beautiful birds flying in a group...Truly a breathtaking sight.
"It was on such a perfect day that I met a prince. A dashing, handsome prince. I remember the sight of him- when I saw another human being. He'd call to me.
'Mariposa, Mariposa. Let down you're beautiful locks of hair so I may come to you.'
And I did. Alas, our relationship started. He'd come visit me when the witch was away- for she forbid me to interact with all human beings outside of the tower.
"But..he made me laugh. He made me smile. I loved him."
A tear fell from Mariposa's eye. But she let it fall...
"We'd dance and overlook the terrain. I loved him and he loved me. He was my life and my purpose to live. But that was taken away from me so quickly.
"It was one day when we were looking out of the window. The sun was setting and the colors of the sky were bright orange, red, and pink. Suddenly the witch stormed back, bringing the dark grey clouds behind her, drowning the warm colors from the sky.
'You dare disobey me!' she howled at me. 'I nurture you and practically raised you as my own, which is better then your damned parents could ever do! And THIS is how you repay me?!'
"Before I could even respond, she tore me away from him and threw us in different directions (east&west) as a bright beam of light expanded throughout the sky. The last thing I saw was my prince charming trying to reach to me.
I awoke in this Endless Forest. Four legs with my butterfly pelt and my looong hair, with tiny roses in it. It was hard, getting used to the legs and balancing on them. So, I live my life here searching for him. Hoping and praying that he'll somehow come to me. And we'll be together again."
[Oh don't worry, I don't
Priest smiles sadly. "Oh, I do not mind answering that. I...did. I did fight quite a considerable bit. They have healed well, though." Mentally, he lists his fights: Darkweaver first, then Wesker, then Aegle, then Kaoori. He had fought others throughout the years as well, had rid the forest of them. Long years. Through his beliefs, through the fights he had chosen to uphold them, he had been ostracized. Yet, a few close friends remained.
"I am curious. You mentioned a cleaner? What is that?"
[*Thumbsup* 8D
[e]: Holy smokes, Bayleen beat us both. xDDD ]
[LOLOL I forgot to mention
~Bayleen Turkey listened
Turkey listened through the entire story with increasing confusion and amazement. Periodically though the tale, he threw in a couple of "Golly!"s around. When the doe had finished her story, the stag said, "Wow... Golly Mari... That's an awful pretty story there... Only... what's a human? And a witch? What's that? Oh, it's all so confusing..." the young stags nearly empty head started to almost physically hurt over all the new information he was processing.
~Ocean (I kno, rite? I'm so
Bartleby was mystified. The stag had been through a lot, it was plain to see now that he looked over him more closely. His attention turned to the question at hand. "Ah yes, a cleaner is someone who washes things. I have my own personal cleaner tidy up the place every so often. He gives me baths too just to make me more... presentable." He didn't dare mention Turkey's name. Yes, the old stag might have once had a name, but now he was referred to by a title. if Bartleby gave out Turkey's name, then he could be tracked and killed. The white fawn didn't think that the stag would go to such extremes, but it was always better to be cautious. He didn't want to put his dull cleaner into any unneeded trouble.
Bayleen~ Ohmigosh, I'm
It's ten here, and I should
["OTL -shame- And okay, catch
And okay, catch you later. ^^]
Priest nods slowly. "That is curious, I had not heard of something like that." His eyes close for a moment as he relaxes in the sun. It was a nice day, as always. This forest certainly could be like a prison for some, though for him, it was his life and his duty.
"Do you have any family, lit-Master Bartleby?" He asks quietly. The Priest himself had some he considered family, though not a true one anymore. His mother was probably long dead by now.
How strange to think of her again after so long.
(LOL I feel so bad for
Mariposa smiled gently. "Well, a human is just like us, but with two legs and skinnier body frame. Maybe they're about the same height as us deer. They don't have hooves, but one appendage on each side with five smaller appendage-like things used for grasping and handling things. There are a lot of complex things about the humans. A witch -or wizard for a male magician- is a person who can conjure up magic spells and potions and such fantasy things."
Ocean~ I can only do one of
Bartleby closed his eyes as memories came flooding back to him. His mother... his smiled at the memory of her... Then his father... he scowled at. If anything, his father was one of the only reasons why he was here now. The little Master, after a while of think how to respond, just said, "Only three brothers..." Yes... the crows and Turkey were all he had now, and not for long.
Bayleen~ I think he's used to
Turkey was only even more confused now, but he decided just to shake it off and ask another question. "Oh...okay... So... What's a 'prince charming'?" He hoped that question would give a bit more of a simple answer for him. He knew it wasn't the doe's fault, he just didn't understand much.
(Haha, ok XD) "Hmmm.."
"Hmmm.." Mariposa replied thoughtfully. Then she said, "Well I suppose my prince charming was my....errr sort-of mate but we couldn't FULLY be mates because we couldn't really spent the rest of our lives living off of just visits or living in an actual home to start a family. But a prince is a male from a line of royalty- special privaleges, I suppose. I, a princess, is a female from a line of royalty- with special privaleges."
Mariposa~ "Wow..." Turkey
"Wow..." Turkey pondered over this for quite some time. He looked all around, just to make sure that his Master wasn't around. If he was near, he could see her, and if he saw her, he would chase her off. Turkey always hated it when his Master would chase off the deer who would come by to talk to him. An scurrying ant caught his eye on the ground, and he watched it for a few minutes, entranced.
Mariposa glanced from the ant
Bayleen~ "Huhwuh?" the doe's
"Huhwuh?" the doe's sudden comment broke him out of his trance. He thought for a moment. "Well... I'm not all that good at rememberin' things. I just remember two of my friends letting me meet their friend, my Master." he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to remember. "Uhm... that's all I got..." the stag sighed in dissapointment. "You told me a whole story too... I'm sorry..."
