Does anyone else get this, or is it just me?

'Kay, so I mentioned in my "Liëka has a message" entry that I let my deer develop to themselves. But when I play them, I really feel like I'm almost 'channeling' (I dunno if that's the right word, we'll stick with it for now) the characters of my deer. I don't think through 'What would they do now', it's instinctive, it's what I naturally just do. And it fits the personality of whoever I'm logged in as to a T.

Me being weird-multiple-personality or what?

I completely have the same thing, and always have, even with characters before TEF. It's like having all these brain babies floating around your head, demanding to be drawn, written about, played lol it can get rather loud Sticking out tongue

Hurray someone agrees with

Hurray someone agrees with me! Apparently some people call it something along the lines of 'soul bonding' (can't remember exactly the phrase), and say that they are channeling an actual character, or are creating a construct of the character which then exists as some form of separate entity. ...I just thought that was an interesting thing to mention, hee. Personally, I don't subscribe to this view. I just think it's great that a character you created works so well that it's feasible to work by itself. ^___^

That is an interesting view, never heard of it before!

Some of my favorite moments while writing have been when I've had characters 'tell me' something, as though it wasn't even my idea to begin with lol

Oh yeah, that's happened. I had a revelation recently about two of my half-conceived characters actually being one and the same character, and thus now had enough body to be a full character, and it was... so obvious. She just kinda... popped up while I was walking somewhere and said of course it makes sense, and it also solves your gap in the timeline too. c: Woo. xD

Always nice when they pop in to solve problems hehe sadly mine usually just say something like "I wouldn't do that, you boob, you made me cooler than that D:" ... entertaining, but not immediately helpful lol

Same here. I just walk around in game and the rest goes without me thinking through every step. It's not like: 'Now he/she should be doing this.' but more like: 'If I were he/she, I'd probably be doing that or something.' Or when someone/something attracts attention, ofcourse they respond.

Arghk. I bet I won't get my point across, it's hard explaining how it's done... I don't feel I am Avani when I play them. I'm either Fenqua, Silvery, Q, Juliet, Fenkovan or Spangled. Or Amara. Depends on my mood mostly, or just a random pick. But when in Forest I become the character. I'm very shy irl and in Forest, but for example when playing Fenkovan my attitude turns to 'look, new friends! and if they don't like me, I don't care.' <-- damn I wish I had that attitude irl X"D

I think I do get what you mean. ^_^

Do you get that with characters for other things, too? I mean, do you write stories, or in other games and such? Or have you only really had developed characters in TEF?

I'm really interested now, I feel like I'm doing a survey. ^^

I get like that sometimes.

I get like that sometimes. =D Especially with my newest deer Bastilion. Usually when I'm typing his journal entries, I get so into it, it's easy to type how he would "talk", even though that's not how I normally do. =]
And I tend to pick what deer I play depending on my mood, which helps too.
