So, since I have a logitech game controller I decided to see if it worked.
In short, yes it works.
HOWEVER, it works somewhat strangely. The left analog works fine other than some sensitivity issues. It's difficult to trot. Running and walking are easy but the tilt required for trotting is such a tiny area that I usually end up running if I try to turn. If I don't put a check in "analog joystick" then full tilt only walks and holding 1 to run only makes me trot. Honestly, the run button only has a purpose if I leave analog unchecked but then the inability to actually run bothers me.
With analog checked, the action button doesn't work quite how it is explained in the instructions. Holding allows me to select, yes, but down does not cancel action input, it simply moves the selection to the next row when highlighted for either the emotion or movement actions. Pressing up does hide the action bar but only if I'm not in the second row of actions, so really it is moving my selection up.
With analog unchecked the buttons work like the instructions. One makes me run instead of walk, 4 makes me jump, holding 2 allows me to use the left analog for the camera, and holding three allows action selection. For the actions with additional options in the second row I have to release 3 on the main one, then hold 3 again and use left and right to select the action. Holding 3 and hitting down cancels, as it should according to the instructions.
For either setting, analog checked or unchecked, I can't use the right analog to zoom and strangely it rotates to the sides when tilted up or down. It's very awkward. Can't walk backwards either. Putting the camera on follow nullifies all the camera options other than zoom and holding back makes me spin... And give me motion sickness. ^^;
Also, this computer seems to have the same problem my old one had. It doesn't count joystick/controller input as activity so the computer goes to sleep while I'm playing if I don't touch the touchpad or keyboard regularly. D: STILL can't find a dang option to fix that. *sigh* If anyone knows how to fix that on Windows 8, please tell me. I would be eternally grateful.
Sounds like the oddities of
