I've had a hectic life and haven't been able to play much. I was rather upset when I loaded up the game today to discover the servers apparently were cut off! Or at the very least I can't connect any more. I miss my owly faced deer. I do think it would be strange that just in April a new generation of pictograms would be released only for the game to stop being hosted 2 months later...

I played around for a bit. I am reminded that a mouse is probably ideal. Touchpad is annoying and looking back at my entry about my gamepad.... no thanks.
Now that I am a magical adult deer I can actually hold onto any pretty changes people bestow on me. This is something I'd actually really like.
Currently thinking I want a magpie beaky if that's still an option and I have no idea about anything else. XD If anyone wants to just gather around me and throw random magic at me that would be awesome.
For now I'm just hunting red flowers to put on my antlers. I had them when I first logged in again but I seem to have lost them and loading my deer did not bring them back.

So my computer died and it took a while to fix.... and then for whatever reason I didn't redownload this game. I haven't been playing too many games in general lately... I dunno. I feel really bad about disappearing since I was here barely a month before everything went crazy for me.
I still haven't downloaded the game yet but I probably will. It is now definitely on my to-do list since I've figured out what my log in was. ^^;;;
It's going to be so weird being an adult deer now. I was still a fawn when I poofed.

copypasta from my forum update:
EDIT: I FIXED IT! Major thanks to some IT friends.
It turns out it isn't a container or compatibility issue, it's actually a permissions issue. The fix is simple, actually. Just need to run as administrator. It will ask you about it every time you run it from then on once you set it, but you will be able to take screenshots and they show up! No "compatibility files" button needed!
So, there are two ways to go about this. You could do it the super annoying way by right clicking and selecting "run as administrator" every time or...
~ Go into wherever your game is installed. ...Program Files (86)/Tale of Tales/The Endless Forest 3 is the default for 64-bit Windows 8 (which is what mine is).
~ Find ForestViewer.exe and right click then select properties.
~ Click on the compatibility tab (I know I said it wasn't a compatibility issue...technically it isn't) and at the very bottom there should be an unchecked box that says "Run this program as an administrator" under the Privilege section.
~ Check that box.
~ Hit apply.
Image below cut!

So, since I have a logitech game controller I decided to see if it worked.
In short, yes it works.

Just an introductory I guess.
I've known about this game for years, YEARS but never played it. In the beginning, I was too freaked out by the human faces to even try. Around 2008 when the fawn was introduced I was still in the "creeped out" phase and thought the game would die soon because it didn't seem very active from the outside.
Then, about a year ago I saw a post on Tumblr about it and couldn't believe the game was still going. Honestly, I'm still a little bothered by the faces but my deer obsession over the years has only gotten "worse" and I'm able to ignore the faces for the sake of deer!
I joined earlier today and set off into the world. I harassed a few deer in an attempt to learn all the emoticons and such. Eventually a group of three older deer took me in and showed me around. Taught me some etiquette, put masks on me, changed my pelt and danced with me.
I feel sorry that I had to leave them so abruptly. My computer apparently updated and didn't even give me a warning about needing to restart! How cruel. When I logged back in I couldn't find them. I scribbled out the pictogram of the one deer that had helped me most, so hopefully I can find them at another time and do my best to make a deer apology!
...I also learned how to save my appearance but I don't think that matters much since I'm (obviously) still a fawn.
...I've adorned myself with purple flowers. ^_^;
