What do you exactly mean, can you connect at all ( I mean, can you log in fine?) or is the pictogram loading the problem?
If you can't connect at all, try to run the game as administrator, that usually fixes the problems of something blocking the connection.
There have been some complaining about the pictograms spreading properly in the game, but if you wait patiently for 5-15 minutes in the game, they should spread just fine.

I opened a single Forest Viewer, then attempted to run another, but rather than both of them operating together, they stopped working and ended. I am so confused.
It's a sever problem. A lot of people can't connect at all. I could have the game open for three hours and it'd still wouldn't connect. Running as a administrator doesn't always work and your connection problem might be the same reason a lot of other people can't connect.
It's not because of your computer; well it depends on if you could connected before ,like I have, without an issue. If running as an admin or opening two tabs doesn't work you can try disconnecting your internet or downloading a software that clean your registry. Just simply putting it out there that some people just can't connect at all.
I'd hate to use this thread since it's not my own but I'd rather not spam the site with the same issue. It might also help the person who originally made the thread sooo....
My internet connectability hasn't changed at all. I don't know about the person who owns the thread but I've been able to connect just fine in the past. In fact I was usually the one person out of my cluster of friends who could connect even with 70 players. I don't know why I suddenly can't connect /at all/.
The color of my dot is usually logged in as red but then sticks to yellow. My pictogram then just sits there and never spreads and will not spread no matter how many tabs I keep open. So I'm sitting there. No, nothing is blocking my game or it would have blocked it before. I haven't downloaded anything new and everything but the forest works just fine.
I've tried removing TEF but I can't seem to remove it completely as my settings always stay the same. Even if I removed every folder and then uninstall. So maybe if I find out how to completely remove it, it'll work again. I don't know. Gosh I feel bad for stealing this thread but it seems silly to make my own with this one up.
@Tabby
Yes, you will need to completely uninstall all related folders to get the 'uninstall effect' that everyone usually recommends. This usually involves going through and making sure everything down to the level of your screenshots folders is removed, then restart the computer. It's tedious, but if it's done right it usually resolves some problems. Maybe it would resolve your connection issue, but maybe not. It seems to be different for different people.
Also, if possible, try refreshing your IP address.
Tabby, have you tried restarting your router or this two-window method? Or maybe it isn't your internet connection, do you remember installing anything before the problem occurred and did you check your comp for viruses\trojans?

I tried running the Forest Viewer in two windows as suggested, but it didn't work. Scratching that possible solution off the list as it proved to be ineffective...
The quote above answers the questions you asked previously; the same is happening on my end. My computer is brand new, so I know that there are no viruses causing the issue.
Also, I should mention that anyone is allowed to post their connection problems here as well. As stated before, there's really no reason to spam the site with blogs about the same issue when there is already a place where people can discuss what's going on and possible solutions.
I always clean my registry and I don't know if you can refresh or restart or whatever have you for the IP address on a laptop.
Right now I'm struggling to just remove the game as I've even used a program that removes things from your computer. I reinstall and the game comes back with the same settings; windowed, everything fixed how I like my game, and it even has hotkeys. I don't even know I think TEF is possessing my computer it will not leave.
It doesn't matter if it is a laptop or a desktop pc, you can reset your IP address on it. Go ahead and do a google search of 'reset IP on (insert make and model of pc here)' and see what comes up.
Did you go through and clean out your internet cookies, etc? And are you running more than one version of TEF?
I managed to completely uninstall, restarted my computer, and reinstalled the game. I've tried running as an admin. I've removed everything Tale of Tale related including that little bundle they sent out.
I've somewhat got it connected even if my pictogram aren't completely spread and I still have my own idly sitting at my screen. I.. doubt I can see everyone but that's better than nothing. Hopefully I can connect tomorrow. I think the only reason they /kind/ of spread now is because there's not many online. Maybe I just need to start waking up earlier. \D
Oh well better than nothing. I'm pleased. Thank you. <:
ApoideaBee, my phone is being a jerk and doing double posts all around, I'm not that stupid not to give them time to reply. Well, my fault for not using a proper device to comment. *hides under bed*
But it's good to hear we're making some progress here! I'll be keeping all fingers crossed that you can finally connect to the game.

I take that back. The connectability was a spur of the moment. I don't think I'll be playing anytime soon. If at all. Unless you have more suggestions?
I know this probably happened... but did you try disconnecting and reconnecting to the internet? I find that the more frequently I do that, the better the forest will run.
Ah that's fine. I seriously don't know what the problem is either. Not even two months ago I connected just fine, I swear. Oh well. Thanks for trying. Maybe the issue will figure itself out. <3
Things I have tried so far (and not had success with), not necessarily in this order:
-Run as administrator
-Run in compatibility mode, XP versions
-Check all the 'run as administrator' boxes in the shortcut's properties
-Switch from wireless to a directly wired internet connection
-Run multiple windows (with and without 'run in background')
-Re-start the router and modem
-Triple-checked the firewall
-Tried to add TEF to the firewall (says it's already added, which it is)
-Re-add TEF to the firewall
-Pretty much every trick I ever learned to get the Forest to cooperate
I apologize for the inactivity on my part; I've been busy lately. I've attempted everything listed so far with no success. This is a rather strange issue we're having. Hm...
Not sure if this was mentioned already, but have you tried updating your Java? I know that can help with speed issues, but it might help with connection issues as well.
