Sooo, explination for this post.
Our intern for the summer at our church had a "goodbye" party this morning and then a gathering with a youth group. She's such a beautiful and amazing lady, and I know her life will lead her in wonderful directions. I cried for a long time, but when she started to play this song on her guitar I INSTANTLY thought of Mystress, and her love and understanding. I think I've already had this feeling inside me, but after hearing it in this beautiful song, it made me so happy. I don't think any of the other kids really heard the lyrics, but I was just in a daze hearing it, and to find someone else who had the same mindset as I about religion....
God I feel like such a hippy.... NEWAYS. Beh happeh.
Amber called her uncle, said "We're up here for the holiday
Jane and I were having Solstice, now we need a place to stay"
And her Christ-loving uncle watched his wife hang Mary on a tree
He watched his son hang candy canes all made with red dye number three
He told his niece, "It's Christmas eve, I know our life is not your style"
She said, "Christmas is like Solstice, and we miss you and it's been awhile"
So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
And just before the meal was served, hands were held and prayers were said
Sending hope for peace on earth to all their gods and goddesses
The food was great, the tree plugged in, the meal had gone without a hitch
Till Timmy turned to Amber and said, "Is it true that you're a witch?"
His mom jumped up and said, "The pies are burning," and she hit the kitchen
And it was Jane who spoke, she said, "It's true, your cousin's not a Christian"
"But we love trees, we love the snow, the friends we have, the world we share
And you find magic from your God, and we find magic everywhere"
So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
And where does magic come from, I think magic's in the learning
Cause now when Christians sit with Pagans only pumpkin pies are burning
When Amber tried to do the dishes, her aunt said, "Really, no, don't bother"
Amber's uncle saw how Amber looked like Tim and like her father
He thought about his brother, how they hadn't spoken in a year
He thought he'd call him up and say, "It's Christmas and your daughter's here"
He thought of fathers, sons and brothers, saw his own son tug his sleeve saying
"Can I be a Pagan?" Dad said, "We'll discuss it when they leave"
So the Christians and the Pagans sat together at the table
Finding faith and common ground the best that they were able
Lighting trees in darkness, learning new ways from the old, and
Making sense of history and drawing warmth out of the cold
heh, being a christian myself, it's pretty amazing to stumble upon these things from time to time, it really reminds me of alot and helps me control my attitude on the forums. c:
I'm a Christian as well, but I hate labeling myself as one sometimes, becuase as a religion most of us are very stuck-up and not understanding at all. I think it's triggered by fear... <3 I don't think I have anything or anyone to fear with God by my side, and even if he wasn't I'd still dance with my pagan friends. XDDD
I'm sure it's like that for all religions, and the non religious. It's more of the persons way of showing themselves rather than their religions, if that even makes sense. I try going to many I our church gatherings and stuff, it helps me find those true Christians to make friends with. Sorry if I make no sense, typing on this iPod is freaking hard.
Wow, this is really beautiful. c: You know a lot of my thoughts of the subject, Mystress, so you ought to know that these lyrics were truly very touching to me, as well. <3 Thanks so much for sharing!
Dannii: Ah, I know how that is! No worries! (; Glad you liked it!
Lemon: I'm so glad I could make you happy with this, I didn't think I'd ever find a song that felt the same way about all religions, and what Christians are supposed to be, when faced with someone different from them, to open your arms not to push away.
Glad you liked it Lemon!! Have an awesome day all of you!! <3
That's beautiful! Me myself, I'm an agnost. Honestly I can't really agree with Christian religion and all and kind of... hate it. Hate is such a big word... But I don't hate Christian people and even have a few Christian friends. They respect my vision and I respect theirs, just like it should be.
