New Years Resolutions!?

Lol, I thought it would be fun to see what some of your resolutions were for 2009, if any XD

And not only yours, how about your deer’s?

I dunno. I don’t have many fun ideas so bear with me here XD

Mine? My biggest one is to get a job and start saving for a horse. I’d also like to better train my dogs and learn how to drive ^^’’ Not too lofty I hope.

Darcy: Erm…well, I think I want to start off the new year with forgiveness, to start over with everyone…though for some that may not be possible… I will try to mend what I’ve broken, and keep what I have safe. Happiness will come in 2009...

Shyla: I s-s-suppose I would very m-much like to…to make n-n-n-new friends. I w-will need to b-be bolder…

Kailani: -Miffed look- I dunno what a resolotion is but…momma says I gotta be nicer to others. Daddy says I will learn to eat only big deer foods soon….he says he’ll show me what will make me big and strong!

Hehe. Im interested to see what everyone else’s are!

I headed for the playground early, excited for the festivities to begin. There, I met a large group of (evidently) like-minded deer. We danced for a bit, then curled up on one of the rocks, in a circle. We looked quite lovely, with our candled antlers lighting the night.



Then. All of the sudden, I saw him! Oh, how my heart leapt at the sight. The phantom was laying quite a distance away, watching us. I said adieu to the candled deer, hopped down off the rock, and trotted over to where the ever-watchful stag was laying. I gave him a nuzzle, and he got up. At first, I expected him to run -- but he didn't, at first. No, he hung around, watching me curiously. Then he turned, staring me right in the face. I looked up at his curious skull, into his empty eyes, and smiled. He got closer, lingering there, with his muzzle near mine. He made a tiny movement, but shook it off before I could see what he was trying to do. Then he walked slowly past me, so close that our ribcages rubbed together, and I almost expected to hear the sort of sound you'd hear when someone runs their finger down a xylophone. When the yellow aura subsided, he looked back at me, and trotted off.

Hey everyone,

I'm a newcomer to the Forest, you may refer to me as Owl. I joined two weeks ago but I never really got around to introducing myself...so I guess I'll go ahead and do that now. Better late than never.

I'm primarily a wolf/gryphon lover but deer are pretty cute too. I love drawing - it's one of my favourite past times - and this place certainly gives me a great oppurtunity to practice drawing humanoid faces, which I tend not to do much as I dislike drawing humans/anthros. XD
So you'll probably see me posting fan art (maybe not on here, but definitely on deviantART) that is related to The Endless Forest. ^^

Usually I'm a pretty friendly person, at least when I'm not nervous, but I am quite anti-social sometimes (especially in the forest), so if you ever see me step out for some time or run off then that's because I've gotten confused and can't keep up with what's going on. I'm trying to overcome this but occasionally I need to be alone for a bit. I hope I don't offend anyone by accident.

Enough about me and my bad habits XD, I should probably talk a little about my deer as well. :3 I don't really know if I should give my deer a name...if I do I'll probably call it 'Mori' or 'Moru', something along those lines.^^ I tend to think of my deer as a 'she' or an 'it', one or the other. I think I like 'it' better. If it was a 'she' then it would be female and female deer don't have antlers...unless, of course, it was a female deer who had antlers for some strange reason.

Well, that's all I really have to say. I hope everybody is having a great day, in both the Forest and in real life, and may the grass grow thick and green wherever you go. (lol that sounded really wierd...)

"Sooooo. Let's see whatwegot." Never pulled his ravaged skull mouth into a grin as he looked down at Pandemonium. The doe's black button eyes roved around him - settling on his face for only a moment before darting away again. As long-legged as she was, she was still tiny compared t him. It was hard to keep from eating her. After a minute, she added, "Where's the poisoner?"

"I couldn't say. Perhaps he preferred his chemistry set." The stag smiled viciously again, his tongue flicking out rapidly. Pan's eyes widened with her own smile, and she swayed where she sat. "Oohoohoohoo. HMMHMMhmm." Her voice reminded the monster of stones skipping on water - deranged, but with a melodious twinge to it. "I guess he didn't want to join our little tea party, eh? Nevermind. I'll f-f-f-fiiiiin him later. Now. LET'S. GETDOWNTOBIIIIIZNESS." She suddenly pitched forward, the joints in her front legs seeming to unlock.

“Look, Chen! We match!”

A flicker of a smile flashed across Chenaniah’s mouth. He had always been amused by his younger brother’s constant enthusiasm.

“We should go to the Festival of Lights like this.” Ialu grinned beneath his new starling mask. Aside from his pelt, the brothers were almost identical.

Chenaniah’s small grin vanished, “Ialu… I don’t think I’ll go to the festival tonight.”

Ialu jumped in surprise. His mouth became firm… but not angry. Ialu was never angry, “But you always miss these celebrations. It’s going to be a new year… at least come to this one.”

Chenaniah didn’t budge. His ear twitched. His herd animal nature longed for other deer. For parties. To watch the gods put on their amazing shows. To dance and just keep dancing.

“No, brother. I don’t like to be around other deer.” He responded.

Ialu raised an eyebrow, then sighed.

“You can go by yourself,” Chen shrugged, “I’m not stopping you. In fact, I’d prefer to welcome the New Year on my own.”

Ialu rolled his eyes, “You can’t be this antisocial. Just come tonight. One night. And if you get scared, I’ll be ri-”

“I’m not scared, Ialu…”

Ialu grinned again, lay down stubbornly, and was silent. The two brothers were quiet, ears flicking back and forth, picking up the sounds all around them. Blue starlight filtered through the cracked walls above. A cloud of bats would often flitter by, snatching up gnats and other impurities in the air. An owl hooted.

“Beautiful night.” Ialu whispered.

Chenaniah looked up at the starry sky, barely visible through the leaves high above.

“Yeah.” He answered.

I feel dumb, because im lagging so bad.
