One by one, he watched the others fall. He hid in the shadows of a dense jungle, taking quick, panicked breaths. Watching the others from his herd...watching what those flying monsters did to them...
The Achak had a nimble body, slender much like a wild dog, but had small, delicate feathers that lined his body. He had a snout much like an anteater, and similar to the Earthen species, his kind used their long tongues to lick out nectar from the otherworldly flowers on Ibuzon. He had four eyes in total - two large and two small, one of each on either side of his snout. His snout was lined with a few horns that was his species' only means of protection. He had paws much like a cockatiel or a chameleon, used to climb trees and stalks effectively.
But here on the ground, the feet did not help him survive. He was not fast, not even remotely fast as the Daog. The Achak peeked from underneath the massive leaves that covered him. They were still flying around, scanning the ground for him. They
knew he was there, they could smell him all too well. The Achak shuddered as he saw their bodies above - sleek, nimble, powerful. He had watched others of his kind become captured by the predators. He had to look away when they literally tore other Achaks apart, stuffing their capture into the belly pouch on their undersides.
He knew that they would find him sooner or later. Their species was far more superior to his in every possible way. What could he possibly do?
The Daog picked up the faintest detection of him, and a few landed into the jungle. They looked around, sniffing the air, hunting with every whiff of the Achak they picked up. Soon, they spread out, some going off away from their prey, others getting dangerously close to him. They didn't spot him, but they knew he was there.
A load of Deer gathered around the big hollow tree where we were all having fun!
