PSA about new pictograms! Please read!

With the very quick end of generation three, I feel it would be important to remind people of one simple thing: The generation ran out extremely quickly compared to the others. We don't want that to keep happening.

Be responsible:

Please, please don't go rushing to register a whole bunch of Gen 4 pictos when they come out. This is especially important if you don't need them. There will be plenty to go around for awhile if everyone doesn't go rushing for them immediately.

Thanks for reading and I hope you all give this some thought.

sorry i just have to nitpick, gen2 still ran out months quicker than gen3 (mostly thanks to m&a freeing up pictos for gen3)... but other than that, yes

Unplugged- Really? I would've thought it was the other way around!

But, please signal boost this. It's so true. People are nabbing pictos without even thinking what they're going to use it for. A good idea if you need one I think, is to ask around if anyone has a spare they'd be willing to give out. You'd be surprised, a lot of people have unused pictos as far as I know, and some might be able to give them out. I myself have 2. So please people, when registering a picto, think hard whether you really need it or not.

.: I mean seriously, there are new people who would like to join with a nice picto but how could they if people get greedy and start grabbing up all the pictos [and some without even using them]? It's kinda the same for most free stuff, sadly: people get greedy and pick at them as if they are life-supporting substances and they end up running out swiftly.

Unplugged, I didn't think that was true since we were pretty far into gen 2 when I joined the first time (as fortwolifetimes) and gen 3 didn't come into play until a little over a year ago.

Faina: I know, it's really true. People have to be more sparing or considerate with the Gen 4 if they don't want it to end up the same way, but I somehow doubt that. :c

I don't really think I will take one though, was just asking out of curiosity if we can. Perhaps we can if we are respectful, but still there have to stay some for new players, yes. Also bumping.

I took two! Found one that looked like a mean grinning face, then found another that was just. Umm. Had to have it. Too pretty!! I'm seeing a crapload of good ones!! I think I like these better than any other generation.

Apoidea it is the first day

Apoidea it is the first day and already I strongly suspect most of the pictograms being registered are being created by players who already have one or more accounts. I have no statistics of course but I haven't seen a single NEW player post on TEFc about discovering the game or joining the website. It really wouldn't kill people to wait a month or two.

I realize this is an unpopular opinion.

edit: Sorry that came off as condescending or bitter, I just wanted to explain where I'm coming from when I want existing members to show some restraint. When I think about when I first joined, I wouldn't have gotten a chance to enjoy the game if I couldn't have registered a pictogram. The idea other future members are missing out on years of fun makes me disappointed when I see pictograms being used for four weeks/a month and then that account/character is neglected.

Tera,I completely understand

Tera,I completely understand exactly where you are coming from, but I also would like to point out that the community is not always as advertised and many players that do play the game do not have accounts here on the community. I would also like to note that this generation is brand new and therefore carries an allure to pretty much everyone. (Sure a few won't bother) Telling them that they cannot register just one pictogram would not only be unpopular but it also is not any more fair than taking a couple of pictograms from new players.
There are plenty to go around if we are responsible with how many are being registered. I understand and heartily agree with the stagnant pictogram issue, though. That is why I keep reminding people to be responsible and not selfish. If you aren't going to use it then don't take it. will come off better to others than Do not register pictograms because others are going to want them. which may come off more poorly.
