-Species:
FalitAi Falit'Tohot
--Native of Myru
-Does not fluently speak or understand the Forest common tongue/English
--
Native language has an almost melodic quality, marked by rounded vowels and a lilting tone.
--Tall, lanky
--Light/Medium fighter
---Quick hit/dodge instead of heavy blows
---May test/size up an opponent or prey with small in/out dashes before actually putting effort in
--Cautious, but often curious and unafraid
--Pack mentality
-- Scarring around right rear foot, from previous bite wound
--
Some canine and deer traits, but neither a canine nor cervine
--
Antlers
--
Similar to those of a
white-tail deer, with some differences (altered brow tines, vertical height)
---Used for rooting in harder soil, overturning logs, courtship/territorial disputes, hunting, etc. Slow, constant growth to replace worn pieces, more similar to tusks and rodent teeth than to true antlers. Must be constantly worn down to prevent overgrowth and maintain sharpness of the tines.
--3-toed hooves
--Longer, somewhat sticky
tongue with barbing (similar to an anteater, but less extreme)
--Stiff-haired mane along back and tail - can be raised when alarmed or agitated (
1,
2)
--Carnivore
---Teeth:
Similar, but
not exact.
---Primarily
insectivorous, however forced to radically adjust his diet due to the significant difference in size of the fauna of the Forest; would require substantial amounts of insects due to his size and therefore must supplement his diet with small birds, mammals, and reptiles; catching a large meal means less time and energy expended catching hundreds of the Forest's tiny bugs.
---Cautious hunter, avoids injury when possible
---Will take on small game
---Opportunistic hunter/scavenger - will prey upon some weakened deer
---Greater hunger will increase prey drive
Their set is quite striking
I hope they don't eat Haroten.. ;P They think he's pretty cool looking!

The buck was ignored entirely
Some time later, when his business has been concluded, the creature meanders back to the warmth of the birch tree forest. He sports a new limp and more fresh wounds, though his stoic nature doesn't allow him to show much discomfort. It isn't too difficult to find Authieu again, the one who had... not just shouted, but spoken. There weren't many, if any, who'd bothered with that sort of thing in his presence, he realizes; that's what had nagged at him so. Wary, he edges within sight but leaves a fair bit of distance between them.
The grey buck, after Ajo's
When the other returned some time later, the lightly dozing buck awakened and slowly lifted his head, watching. He had come back? With caution now, Authieu again stood as if to greet the black and white stag, but remained quiet. He wasn't sure how to react, wasn't sure why the other deer had returned to this spot. After a few moments, he found his voice. "Hello?"
His attention divided between

Authieu was puzzled, watching Ajo with a scrunched up expression. He picked up the wet cloth again and lightly placed it next to one of the smaller wounds on the stag's back, moving slowly so as not to inspire a startled reaction. He pushed the cloth over the wound, moving it gently and removing dried blood from the scrape before dropping the cloth back into the bowl. The water slowly swirled with a faint, red tint as the blood came off the fabric.
[Haha don't think he's
Ajo flinches lightly in surprise, his skin shivering around the cloth like it would to shoo a fly. Seeing as it doesn't hurt beyond the mild sting of the scratch and the water's coldness, though, he tolerates the touch and studies Authieu with a new bewilderment. It seems a bit round-about to him, using a fake tongue, but if it makes the stranger happy, then... okay? He picks up the rag again and stares at Authi with marked skepticism before dropping it onto his tattered rear foot to soak and perhaps appease the odd fellow. And then resumes licking elsewhere.
Authieu watched as a mother
After a few minutes of this, the grey buck wondered if the stranger was perhaps hungry? Fighting would certainly give someone an appetitie, yes? He looked around at his little home and wondered if there was anything Ajo might like. He stood, nosing around his things before setting some stuff in front of the stranger and sitting back down again. Placed in front of Ajo was a dead rabbit- only dead for a few days, a bundle of green grasses, a small collection of dead beetles, and a dried fish. He didn't make a move to entice the stranger toward the options, letting the other decide what they wanted to do, if anything.
The rummaging goes mostly
Beetles, okay, Ajo eats bugs.
He tried to recall words from earlier, hoping that by understanding the context in which the word was used, he could understand the word. "Hilan," Authieu said, hoping it was a kind word. "I'm going to head to sleep now, okay? There's more bugs over there," he said, motioning toward the other tree. "Just don't eat my butterflies."
(Need to head to bed, thanks for this!)
