Painted skulls and woven beads(Poetic done!)

Mis's picture

You've been looking for that one, special gift.
Something unique. Something noone else in this forest carries.
Perhaps you want to give it as a gift, to that pretty doe across the pond.
Perhaps it's because you think you look boring.
That dull skull mask surely could use something to spice it up.
Pinecones and oak leaves no longer satisfy you. It has to be new!
What will you do?

Perhaps this odd looking doe can help you.
She seems abundant with beads, paints, no part of her is undecorated.
You wonder if she perhaps knows where to get such pretty objects.

You approach, and she seems to smile at you, as if she already knows what you're going to ask.

Below are examples of the things she has made for other deer!

A necklace made for Sterre, an agate slice decorated with a choker of beads. There surely is a pattern in those, white beads representing stars, blue beads the night sky. Verve added in beads made of bones and wood to finish it off. Leftover agate got turned into a little headband for the doe.

A small dreamcatcher, the first thing Verve gave to another deer. It was given to Ephiré, a stag who had been suffering from nightmares. The dreamcatcher is one of those little things she had made with some free time, hearing Ephiré's story she thought it could make a nice gift. The feathers seem oddly fitting, not unlikely those have been attatched to the dreamcatcher quickly before giving it to the raven stag.

A squirrel skull, painted a shiny black. A piece of patterned, red fabric attatched to it to serve as a necklace. Beads are woven at the edge of the fabric, and below it as well.
This necklace is made for noone in paticulair, though Verve doesn't really seem to wear it either. You could ask, perhaps she'll give it to you?

Upon Aurora's request, Verve found a fitting stone for the doe. A blue calcite, supposed to assist the memory and give calmth to the wearer.
Blue beads have been chosen to match the stone as well as the does eyes, though Verve right now is unsure if this is perhaps not too much blue. Will likely show the doe for some feedback.

A bell on a cord was given to Verve from Neah, so she could enhance it's looks. An african pattern was used on a beaded band, in the colors of the child as not to disrespect their looks. Fairly simple compaired to other designs, perhaps?

A doe came to visit Verve, this time with a plea. Something to help her get rid of spirits of the past. The closest Verve could think of, was an amulet of protection. The deer in need of protection only needs to own it, and doesn't have to wear it, but that didn't stop her for turning it into a headress for Sorrel. The ward is to protect against evil, spirits, etc. It will prevent others from wishing harm upon her!

Not long ago, Verve got possession over a dead deer's head thanks to Neath. Thus, the doe was carrying a decapitated head around the forest to bury it. Not really something you'd see many other does do. But, everything for art!

The skull has been cleaned up by Verve's beetles, and has then been painted and decorated. There is a dreamcatcher in each eyesocket. Starling soon came to Verve after she had finished the skull, asking for it. Verve adapted the skull slightly to fit the doe, making the antlers smalling and giving it a fabric band to keep it on her head. It can be hung from her neck the same way.
When on her head, the skull would fit like this.

Something small, something quick, something that was difficult and different for Verve. The doe Sorrel came to ask her for a gift to a stag. This was the first problem, since what do you make for a stag? It has to be manly. So she decided to keep it simple, tight. A wristband for a deer. The gift turned out to be for Verve's brother, Sonne, which complicated things further. She did her best though, and hopes Sorrel will appreciate it.
One feather dangling is yellow, like Verve's eyecolor. Her mothers too, though, so she doesn't know if Sonne would understand.

A little beaded headband for Camellia. Verve got a lot of freedom for this one, which can make her a little insecure. It looks a little different from her usual work, as Verve hoped to get it to fit to the kind does personality. Something calm, not overly complicated.

Not the easiest one, this. Verve got stuck on the design for a long while before she decided to just simply make it, and see what comes out. A design for Kate, fit for a godess? Verve lets her be the judge of that.
The large feathers behind Kate's head are made up of beads. The choker around her neck starts from her head, beads dropping down like water onto her forehead down the neck, crawling to the front. They come together in a chocker at shoulder-height, where two red feathers hold onto the red stones. These were a gift from Starling, a payment for the skull.

(I will speak to you Kate. Just wanted to put this up for now.)

The doe Amunet was the first one to ask Verve to be painted. She did her best to involve her own cultural background, and still have it fit Amunet. Amunet usually isn't bald, and wears a blindfold. So there is a version with the both of those too.

(Heartless7, I tried to incorporate Amunet's robot-side in this, and still keep it tribal. I hope you like it, if not I can easily change it since I now have a 'naked' version of her drawn. For that matter, if Amunet's painting wears off, she can go back to Verve for a new one Eye )

The buck Blue, or Madoke came to ask Verve if she could make an idea he had in mind. Lots of black beads, that was clear. Verve added some wooden ones to add some change to the long beadwork, involving wooden beads as well. The feathers would be tied around Blue's antlers, something to match his markings.

Kaya is a new friend of Verve's, so when she came to ask her for a necklace Verve could of course not deny. She had a few designs to go through, and in the end the necklace came out sort of simple. One of the copper coins she got from Sorrel has been added in the middle, and a peacock feather from Herla hangs from the necklace.

The young buck Twilight came to Verve asking her if she could make something with his orange rose and peacock feather. This gave Verve the opportunity to preserve something, the rose would wilt over time of course if she didn't. She encased the rose in a ball of amber, making the necklace itself from the peacock feathers with little beads on the long feather. She found it an interesting challenge.

(Inca, I wasn't sure about Twilight's design from your description.. So I put a little bit of own interpretation on it, hope you don't mind.)

The stag Moss came with a curious request. A big acorn was supposed to be pierced into his ear with a web inside. Curious! But she tried her best, and added a little oak leaf. It has been drying since last fall, one of her forest collections.

The webwork inside was done by a rather small spider indeed. Some beads were added to add to the decoration.

(I wasn't sure about Moss his eyecolor? Seemed.. Black? XD And I dunno if the acorn is too big now, so yeah if anything needs changing tell me)

The Gypsy doe came to ask for one of Verve's craft, who was intrigued by her exotic looks. A headdress? Why not. Using one of the coins from Sorrel and some bird wing bones as well, she created something elegant she hopes the doe finds fitting.

Sometimes you have to do something special for just leaving like that. And if anything, Verve knew she'd find something to create for the Queen she was growing so fond of. Like herself, the doe Herla has short fur and would likely get cold during winter. When on her trip with Aurora and Ephiré, Verve came across an old fur that really needed cleaning up. It wasn't big enough for herself, or for a whole cape, but combined with some of her thick african fabrics she was sure it'd be able to keep Herla warm. Or, atleast warmer.

Two dreamcatches for Brooks, designed to keep the feathers he gave to Verve stable. The woven exterior gives the feathers extra protection, making sure they fray less. They are made in two colors, and have feathers given by Blue at the bottom, and beads given by him woven into the thread as well.

(Maybe a little simple, hope that's okay ♥)

The pregnant doe Kasmir came to Verve with a worrying requests. Three gifts to her family in case she doesn't survive her pregnancy.
Greatly shocked, Verve didn't turn down the request but did have a hard time with it.

A gift for her son.
A gift for her mate
But the last one troubled the doe. A gift for her parents, to remind them of being a fawn? All that came to her mind were the flowers fawns wore. Using a real poppy, she made a necklace-hanger she hoped would do the job.

Joined by the stag Esclave one day, she realised during their conversation he had a problem with sunlight. His eyes needed shielding. The doe transformed a raven mask from the forest mask trees into a more fitting instrument to shield his eyes, but still not limit his vision like many other masks do.

Asked by the doe Lovelace for a necklace of the sorts made of the small does feathers. Not sure who the necklace is for, kept it calm and neutral. Hopes it fits, atleast.
Imagined it would fit like this around a stag's neck. Kept it neutral due to not knowing who it is for, and added a key to keep it interesting.

Given a poem by Seed. Flattered, had never heard of anyone with a gift for poetry like that. Was determined to return the favour, and aid the stag in some way. Having hooves to write with can't be easy.
Set up the very difficult task to bend a piece of scrap metal into some sort of holder for around a leg, holding up a long raven feather, likely from one of the giants in the forest. It can be filled with berry juices, or any other form of ink. Hopes the stag may have an easier time doing his craft with this.

Approached by Radish for a simple, yet overdue request. Just a way to attatch his headgear better. Added a little fabric band to the ceramic bowl, sewing the thread of beads to that. Added a little amulet from her trip in the mountains to the necklace. Stuck some herbs in the beadwork. Hopes he'll forgive her for her slowness.

The doe Poetic approached Verve to have her giraffe skull painted. A type of skull Verve is pretty fond of! Black, gold and blue were the colors, together with stars or freckles for a theme. Using the blue for the stars, and the gold as accent lines.

Sighthoundlaydee:

Herla had often found the doe working on different kinds of trinkets, accessories for different deer. Today was no different. She seemed tired, but none the less enthusiastic. She loved the work. At Herla’s voice, she suddenly looks up. She had some things for her? ”Oh?” Her expression quickly became curious. Oh, the basket! That was a nice one, didn’t Herla have one of those too? This one looked different. ”Ooh it has red in it!” Favourite color right there. She looked at the doe with a big grin before her attention fell to what was IN the basket. She seemed to let out a squeak. ”Not much? This is amazing!” The tall doe gently picked the owl skull out of the basket, putting it on the ground. She gently seemed to inspect it. ”This one is lovely, it really has a whole history. Not just a perfect skull.” Her eyes betrayed this was like she was given a treasure chest. ”And these feathers! They’re gorgeous! When did you loose these?” Atleast she assumed so. Surely Herla hadn’t pulled her own feathers out as a gift.. Right?

”Ah this is great! Thank you so much!” She lowered her neck to nuzzle the smaller doe, expressing her gratefulness. ”The basket is amazing.. You make these right?” She looked at Herla’s dainty hooves. ”Your weaving is amazing. One day you’ll have to teach me.” She grinned. ”I really like the red. Ahpft, thanks.” She laughed, pressing her cheek against Herla’s neck once more before stretching it up again. For a moment, it even sounds as if the tall doe is sniffling.

The doe nodded, resting her chin on the grass and trying not to laugh when the spiders began arranging the amulet. Their furry legs tickled about her ears and she had to contain her chortles with a lopsided grin. When they were done, she sat up, almost going cross-eyed trying to look at the main piece. "I've never heard that before," she chimed, curious. "But I suppose...it could be. A comfortable prison, at least."

(( Gah, i'm sorry, i've been so slow lately with shorter responses. Would you like to finish this up when you can? ))

Freyja:

She smiled at Sorrel who seemed to try to look at the amulet. It looked weird. ”The reflection in the pond may help you better with that..” She nodded. ”Not a bad prison. Got family here. But sometimes it’d be nice to just run, and not bump into the same area every five minutes.” That was always scary to her.
”Well, I have to continue work now. I hope Sonne will like your gift, and good luck.” She winked at the other doe, gave her an elegant bow and turned back to her work. Time to bury herself in beads and feathers.

Herla blushes and her gaze

Herla blushes and her gaze falls to her feet at Verve’s welcome reception to her gifts. When she lifts her eyes again, she is smiling though. Weaving baskets for function was a skill Herla had been perfecting for a long time, and slowly it was becoming an art form as well. Subtle designs and patterns had began to find their way into her work. ”If you soak the basket over night, it will remain waterproof for a few days,” she instructed, she imagined having water handy would be useful to a crafter. “I’ve had the skull a long while, it seemed such a perfectly made creation, what a waste to just leave it to be trampled on in the woods, but I never knew what to do with it really,” she peered at Verve’s ornaments, some of which where the small delicate skulls of bird, “I’m glad to give it to someone who recognizes its uniqueness,” she smiles and spreads her feather mantle over her back, “Those feathers where shed right before the twins were born, they had grown so long, some of them where starting to drag on the ground,” she chuckled. Perhaps there was a bit of creation Magics still within them?

The doe extends her neck to press her cheek against the tall does’ as she leans her long neck down to her. “You’re welcome, I’m really happy you like it, and I’d love to teach you how to weave as well,” the twins were interested in learning herbs and magics, no one had expressed much interest yet in weaving, Herla loved to teach. It made her feel warm inside to have something to share with the other doe as well. “And still I hope you will be able to teach me how to make bread on day too,” she smiled, the food stuff and how it was made still amazed and intrigued her, she was a doe hungry for innovation and knowledge. “So, what have you been working on? Did you find a home for the deer skull I helped you bury?”

The goddess saw what Verve

The goddess saw what Verve had made once the doe had opened her eyes. Her heart swelled with joy and wonderment, what a magnificent imagination. "You honour me with such talent, Verve. I am blessed to be adorned with such master-works."

She arched her neck to see the body-paint staining her side and in the reflection of the pond the doe could see the wonderful beads that now crowned her.

Kytte smiled to herself now. "I have something in return for you. These gifts are very rare and nothing else like them in the whole world..." Deep in her mind, the goddess knew these skulls and feathers. These were not any ordinary artefacts, these were past souls. A skull from a now dead King, called Feathercrest. His victim, Gevaar and a handfull of glowing feathers from a doe called Ravenflight, who was once able to change herself into a godlike form.

From the goddesses garden of creation, she would pull these things objects forward, for the souls had left their bodies.

"I only ask that you close your eyes, Verve"
Mis's picture

Sight: ”Water proof huh?

Sight:

”Water proof huh? That’s super handy..” She was going to remember that trick for sure, how curious. She listened to the stories about how she got the other objects. The does attention turned to the feathers. ”They are really long yeah, neat.. I didn’t think they’d grow during pregnancy?” She hadn’t heard of that before, but it sounded interesting. ”Oh I’m sure to make good use of this skull..” It was such a nice size.

”You’d teach me?” Her expression brightened up further. That could be super handy! ”I’m not sure if I can teach you the bread thing.. Lots of ingredients I’d miss in this forest.” Like, humans. She laughed. ”Ah the skull! Starling has it now.. I painted it black and made dreamcatchers in the eyesockets.” She’d show, but she didn’t have the skull anymore! ”If you see a red doe with a black skull, I’m sure that’d be her.” A nod.

Kate:

Verve seemed to blush slightly at the positive response. ”You’re very welcome.” Master works? Oh you! She giggled. Compliments made her nervous.

Something in return? Verve’s ears seemed to lift up curiously, looking at the goddess. ”Alright..” The tall doe closed her eyes, though it was hard not to peek. She wouldn’t break a promise though, so her eyes were kept closed.
parrotsnpineapple's picture

The goddess smiles and closed

The goddess smiles and closed her eyes. Before Verves feet two skulls would appear. One very large, and one of average size. Three dark black feathers with blue glowing tips also appeared. The large skull belonged to a King called Feathercrest, or to others, The Raven King. The next was a small girls skull, about 19 years old, the same as Verve. She was called Gevaar and was a puppet to the King. The feathers came from the doe called Ravenflight, from a powerful form of herself.

From mist they appeared and for a small moment, a cold wind raced across the forest floor. They sat there before Verve.

"You may open your eyes now."

Mis's picture

Verve had no clue of what was

Verve had no clue of what was going on. Finally the goddess gave her the okay, and she opened her eyes only to see the gorgeous objects in front of her. The doe turned quiet, paused. Seemed to just stare before she turned her gaze to the goddess. "Are these for me?" That felt like such an unfair deal to her. These skulls were amazing. Verve had no problem with death whatsoever, she didn't question where they came from. She lowered herself down to gently turn the human faced skull around. It was exactly her size.. The big one was going to be more difficult. A big deer would need to wear it. Those usually already had skulls..Hm. She'd figure it out. "They are beautiful. So are the feathers!" They seemed to glow! "This seems so much compaired to what I made for you." She looked at the goddess again. "Are you sure this is alright?"
parrotsnpineapple's picture

The goddess smiled and nodded

The goddess smiled and nodded gently. "They are but a fraction of what I could give. What you deserve." Kytte watched as Verve observed the skulls and feathers with care. "I am fond of creativity, and I love to Nourish it. I want you to have them" The goddess spoke with confidence. "I would love to see what you can do with them, Verve. For me, I can only see what they were. It will be refreshing to see them live on in another form.." her words trailed off, as if she thought of some distant memory. "Make them live again"
The goddess smiled gently, and for a brief moment, gave the doe a nuzzle.

Then she was gone.

The orange stag wandered through the woods, not really having a set place to go, but keeping an eye out for something interesting along the way. Two feathers had been loosely tied to his brow tine with a fragile red string. When Brooks chanced to see the tall, black doe in the distance, a bit of hope stirred in him. He had heard of her crafting abilities and had seen the beautiful jewelry she could create. Perhaps she knew how to make these feathers less susceptible to the tests of time? Trotting up to a polite span of space, he bowed (albeit a bit awkwardly) to show he meant no ill-intent. "Ms? If I may, I seek your help."

She lowered her head to tak a better look at the feathers. "Hm, I understand. I could encase them in tree resin but that makes them heavy and untouchable." He did say they were of his daughter after all. Perhaps having them forever in a case would then not be very symbolic. "Otherwise.. Could be difficult. I could weave them into a dreamcatcher. I guess it depends on what you want. Encasing them means they'll forever be in this state. Any other way they'll likely be more durable, but not forever." She looked thoughtfully at the feathers. "And how will you wear them? Keep them in your antlers, or did you have something else in mind?"

He listened, thoughtful to

He listened, thoughtful to the options she listed. "Just to wear them in antlers." The stag replied. "The dreamcatcher sounded like it would be lovely. A small one for each feather."

Again so sorry for not

Again so sorry for not getting around to this. I keep forgetting to turn to this account and give you an answer. Umm as for the tail... like a horses yes but with its current length that way it trails along the ground. As for her hair what I mean by longer is that I was wondering is you could change the length. Maybe have it reach down to where her stomach would be. If that still doesnt make sense I'll try to explain again.
Umm and I guess I can start off again with the rp again no problem.

The night was calm and quiet.

The night was calm and quiet. The darkness hung heavy among the trees and over the quiet water in the pond, the moon reflecting herself in its mirror like surface, making her silvery glow dance across the blackness in a slow, peaceful waltz.
Among the trees, a sliver of the same kind of silver could be seen, treading along on careful hooves, red eyes shining in the dark.
It only took a moment for Esclave to spot the graceful figure of the slender doe in the darkness, despite her dark pelt.
He tilted his head and tip-toed closer, curiosity sparked by her unusual markings and accessories.
"...Hello?" He called out carefully into the dark, not meaning to sneak up on the doe before him. Unnerving new acquaintances was never a good first impression.

Having recently returned from

Having recently returned from a long trip with two good friends, the doe thought to keep it a quiet night. Not easy, with so many things collected and thus so many things to do. And finally she saw her bug friends again. She laid by the shore, watching the water ripple and listening to the frogs croaking. An ear turned when she heard hoofsteps behind her, turning her head to look into the direction of the sound. A stag seemed to be approaching. “Good evening?” Her questioning reply came to his greeting. She was never one to assume bad intentions, but the approach seemed to make her slightly nervous. She was tired, after all. She decided to get up, her ridiculous size immediately making her a towering figure, albeit a very slender one. “Is there anything I can help you with sir?” Oh no she did not mean to intimidate, as shown by the smile she gave the stranger. But surely it made her feel better.

Having not expected such

Having not expected such height, Esclave did stare a little and stop dead in his tracks as the graceful figure rose before him, although only for a second. He was quick to return the smile, stepping closer carefully and with nary a sound.
"Oh, I'm... Terribly sorry if I disturbed you, dear lady..." He said, giving a slight bow of his silver-and-coal head.
"I was just... Curious. I do not believe I have seen you before?..." He said politely, red eyes shining brightly up at the tall doe.
Yes, he had been curious... But his true reason for approaching was his all-consuming loneliness. He was not a sociable creature, always afraid to hurt or be hurt by those close to him, but he longed for company... A kind word, a sparkling conversation... Anything to bring him closer to other deer.

"Oh no it's quite alright! I

"Oh no it's quite alright! I was just resting up a bit, the pond is always a nice place to calm down at." Her father would always push the idea of it being filthy on her. And surely that had it's effects. But she did love the calm atmosphere at night. "Curious huh?" She seemed to smile a little brighter. That was new, one who didn't get to the point immediatly. She was used to being approached for crafts, and she had not initally thought this would be different. "My name's Verve, I was born in this forest actually. But I've been gone a long time, so I guess you must've missed me." It didn't suprise her much. She still hasn't seen every face yet either. "Would you like to sit down with me?" She offered, turning back to lay herself down on the shore. Whilst sitting, she lost a lot of height.

"So what's your name?" She asked curiously, not meaning to be rude.

Esclave nodded and smiled at

Esclave nodded and smiled at the invite, a brief flash of something white and pointy showing at his mouth before he started talking again, hiding whatever it was yet again.
"Oh, I would love to! Thank you kindly! Verve..." He said her name in a low, melodious hum and a slightly strange accent.
"What an enchanting name! Certainly... Heh... A lot better than mine, I'd say..." He sat down next to her, almost as tall as her when they both were sitting.
"I'm afraid... I do not have an actual name... Although I have been called Esclave and it is what I go by." As he spoke, there was a slight hint of melancholy to his voice. His mind was getting harassed by memories blissfully repressed, although only for the moment and in vague waves.

Piercings hurt. Ow.

The stag smiled after, feeling the weight of the new trinket on his ear and listening to the leaf crackle in the wind. The webbing inside hummed, but not at a pitch he could hear. It was so talkative, the earring, that it would be a wonderful home for his voice. "Many many thanks, Miss Verve. It is absolutely perfect, like all of your works." The stag bowed, and he could feel the trinket swing on his ear. It stung a little, but he was definitely happy for it. The trinket would grow lighter to him with time. "And please pass my thanks along to the spider. This is one magnificent specimen of a web."

CW: "It's not that special

CW:

"It's not that special really, but I guess it fits in a way." Curious how her mother had predicted that.
"Esclave? Interesting." She wondered how one could not have a name.. But she didn't think it was polite to pry. "Well, I'll call you Esclave then, or if you'd rather have me call you something else that's fine." She smiled again. Her eyes turned towards the pond, watching the moon reflect on it's surface. It was funny how it looked the same as outside of the forest..
Suddenly she let out a chuckle, her bright yellow eyes turning back to the other stag. "You still didn't answer what I can help you with though. Usually deer approach me for a reason." She wondered if he was just shy, or if she was wrong and he didn't come for her work. It wouldn't hurt to ask..

Orinoco:
Thank you!

It had been the first time she had pierced another in this forest, but she wouldn’t have told him that. Things went fine though. ”You’re welcome, make sure to fumble it around plenty and keep it clean by the idols tears for the first few weeks. Not in the pond. The pond’s rather dirty.” She threw him a cheerful smile. ”Oh I will, I’ll give her an extra fly tonight. Thanks for the request, it was rather unique.” She enjoyed that, even if she had had to push her spider pretty far for that one. She’d be fine though.

A tiny doe, light yellow pelt

A tiny doe, light yellow pelt and argus markings, limped up to the decorated doe. She appeared to be in agony, as pregnancy does to her, but she tried to keep it together for the sake of getting this done. Kas didn't know how much longer she had, didn't know if she was even going to make it to the birth of this fawn. She came here now wanting to get gifts for the people she loved, so when she was gone, they would remember her.
She was here now, here to ask for some little trinkets. "Hello. I've heard you make quiet pretty gifts for people." She forced a crinkled smile onto her face, hoping she didn't look as awful as she felt. This was really important to Kas. She didn't want to be forgotten.
