Painted skulls and woven beads(Poetic done!)

Mis's picture

You've been looking for that one, special gift.
Something unique. Something noone else in this forest carries.
Perhaps you want to give it as a gift, to that pretty doe across the pond.
Perhaps it's because you think you look boring.
That dull skull mask surely could use something to spice it up.
Pinecones and oak leaves no longer satisfy you. It has to be new!
What will you do?

Perhaps this odd looking doe can help you.
She seems abundant with beads, paints, no part of her is undecorated.
You wonder if she perhaps knows where to get such pretty objects.

You approach, and she seems to smile at you, as if she already knows what you're going to ask.

Below are examples of the things she has made for other deer!

A necklace made for Sterre, an agate slice decorated with a choker of beads. There surely is a pattern in those, white beads representing stars, blue beads the night sky. Verve added in beads made of bones and wood to finish it off. Leftover agate got turned into a little headband for the doe.

A small dreamcatcher, the first thing Verve gave to another deer. It was given to Ephiré, a stag who had been suffering from nightmares. The dreamcatcher is one of those little things she had made with some free time, hearing Ephiré's story she thought it could make a nice gift. The feathers seem oddly fitting, not unlikely those have been attatched to the dreamcatcher quickly before giving it to the raven stag.

A squirrel skull, painted a shiny black. A piece of patterned, red fabric attatched to it to serve as a necklace. Beads are woven at the edge of the fabric, and below it as well.
This necklace is made for noone in paticulair, though Verve doesn't really seem to wear it either. You could ask, perhaps she'll give it to you?

Upon Aurora's request, Verve found a fitting stone for the doe. A blue calcite, supposed to assist the memory and give calmth to the wearer.
Blue beads have been chosen to match the stone as well as the does eyes, though Verve right now is unsure if this is perhaps not too much blue. Will likely show the doe for some feedback.

A bell on a cord was given to Verve from Neah, so she could enhance it's looks. An african pattern was used on a beaded band, in the colors of the child as not to disrespect their looks. Fairly simple compaired to other designs, perhaps?

A doe came to visit Verve, this time with a plea. Something to help her get rid of spirits of the past. The closest Verve could think of, was an amulet of protection. The deer in need of protection only needs to own it, and doesn't have to wear it, but that didn't stop her for turning it into a headress for Sorrel. The ward is to protect against evil, spirits, etc. It will prevent others from wishing harm upon her!

Not long ago, Verve got possession over a dead deer's head thanks to Neath. Thus, the doe was carrying a decapitated head around the forest to bury it. Not really something you'd see many other does do. But, everything for art!

The skull has been cleaned up by Verve's beetles, and has then been painted and decorated. There is a dreamcatcher in each eyesocket. Starling soon came to Verve after she had finished the skull, asking for it. Verve adapted the skull slightly to fit the doe, making the antlers smalling and giving it a fabric band to keep it on her head. It can be hung from her neck the same way.
When on her head, the skull would fit like this.

Something small, something quick, something that was difficult and different for Verve. The doe Sorrel came to ask her for a gift to a stag. This was the first problem, since what do you make for a stag? It has to be manly. So she decided to keep it simple, tight. A wristband for a deer. The gift turned out to be for Verve's brother, Sonne, which complicated things further. She did her best though, and hopes Sorrel will appreciate it.
One feather dangling is yellow, like Verve's eyecolor. Her mothers too, though, so she doesn't know if Sonne would understand.

A little beaded headband for Camellia. Verve got a lot of freedom for this one, which can make her a little insecure. It looks a little different from her usual work, as Verve hoped to get it to fit to the kind does personality. Something calm, not overly complicated.

Not the easiest one, this. Verve got stuck on the design for a long while before she decided to just simply make it, and see what comes out. A design for Kate, fit for a godess? Verve lets her be the judge of that.
The large feathers behind Kate's head are made up of beads. The choker around her neck starts from her head, beads dropping down like water onto her forehead down the neck, crawling to the front. They come together in a chocker at shoulder-height, where two red feathers hold onto the red stones. These were a gift from Starling, a payment for the skull.

(I will speak to you Kate. Just wanted to put this up for now.)

The doe Amunet was the first one to ask Verve to be painted. She did her best to involve her own cultural background, and still have it fit Amunet. Amunet usually isn't bald, and wears a blindfold. So there is a version with the both of those too.

(Heartless7, I tried to incorporate Amunet's robot-side in this, and still keep it tribal. I hope you like it, if not I can easily change it since I now have a 'naked' version of her drawn. For that matter, if Amunet's painting wears off, she can go back to Verve for a new one Eye )

The buck Blue, or Madoke came to ask Verve if she could make an idea he had in mind. Lots of black beads, that was clear. Verve added some wooden ones to add some change to the long beadwork, involving wooden beads as well. The feathers would be tied around Blue's antlers, something to match his markings.

Kaya is a new friend of Verve's, so when she came to ask her for a necklace Verve could of course not deny. She had a few designs to go through, and in the end the necklace came out sort of simple. One of the copper coins she got from Sorrel has been added in the middle, and a peacock feather from Herla hangs from the necklace.

The young buck Twilight came to Verve asking her if she could make something with his orange rose and peacock feather. This gave Verve the opportunity to preserve something, the rose would wilt over time of course if she didn't. She encased the rose in a ball of amber, making the necklace itself from the peacock feathers with little beads on the long feather. She found it an interesting challenge.

(Inca, I wasn't sure about Twilight's design from your description.. So I put a little bit of own interpretation on it, hope you don't mind.)

The stag Moss came with a curious request. A big acorn was supposed to be pierced into his ear with a web inside. Curious! But she tried her best, and added a little oak leaf. It has been drying since last fall, one of her forest collections.

The webwork inside was done by a rather small spider indeed. Some beads were added to add to the decoration.

(I wasn't sure about Moss his eyecolor? Seemed.. Black? XD And I dunno if the acorn is too big now, so yeah if anything needs changing tell me)

The Gypsy doe came to ask for one of Verve's craft, who was intrigued by her exotic looks. A headdress? Why not. Using one of the coins from Sorrel and some bird wing bones as well, she created something elegant she hopes the doe finds fitting.

Sometimes you have to do something special for just leaving like that. And if anything, Verve knew she'd find something to create for the Queen she was growing so fond of. Like herself, the doe Herla has short fur and would likely get cold during winter. When on her trip with Aurora and Ephiré, Verve came across an old fur that really needed cleaning up. It wasn't big enough for herself, or for a whole cape, but combined with some of her thick african fabrics she was sure it'd be able to keep Herla warm. Or, atleast warmer.

Two dreamcatches for Brooks, designed to keep the feathers he gave to Verve stable. The woven exterior gives the feathers extra protection, making sure they fray less. They are made in two colors, and have feathers given by Blue at the bottom, and beads given by him woven into the thread as well.

(Maybe a little simple, hope that's okay ♥)

The pregnant doe Kasmir came to Verve with a worrying requests. Three gifts to her family in case she doesn't survive her pregnancy.
Greatly shocked, Verve didn't turn down the request but did have a hard time with it.

A gift for her son.
A gift for her mate
But the last one troubled the doe. A gift for her parents, to remind them of being a fawn? All that came to her mind were the flowers fawns wore. Using a real poppy, she made a necklace-hanger she hoped would do the job.

Joined by the stag Esclave one day, she realised during their conversation he had a problem with sunlight. His eyes needed shielding. The doe transformed a raven mask from the forest mask trees into a more fitting instrument to shield his eyes, but still not limit his vision like many other masks do.

Asked by the doe Lovelace for a necklace of the sorts made of the small does feathers. Not sure who the necklace is for, kept it calm and neutral. Hopes it fits, atleast.
Imagined it would fit like this around a stag's neck. Kept it neutral due to not knowing who it is for, and added a key to keep it interesting.

Given a poem by Seed. Flattered, had never heard of anyone with a gift for poetry like that. Was determined to return the favour, and aid the stag in some way. Having hooves to write with can't be easy.
Set up the very difficult task to bend a piece of scrap metal into some sort of holder for around a leg, holding up a long raven feather, likely from one of the giants in the forest. It can be filled with berry juices, or any other form of ink. Hopes the stag may have an easier time doing his craft with this.

Approached by Radish for a simple, yet overdue request. Just a way to attatch his headgear better. Added a little fabric band to the ceramic bowl, sewing the thread of beads to that. Added a little amulet from her trip in the mountains to the necklace. Stuck some herbs in the beadwork. Hopes he'll forgive her for her slowness.

Saddend upon the news Pica's mother had passed away, Verve crafted an amulet to her likeness to give to the young doe. So that she could keep her with her.

The doe Poetic approached Verve to have her giraffe skull painted. A type of skull Verve is pretty fond of! Black, gold and blue were the colors, together with stars or freckles for a theme. Using the blue for the stars, and the gold as accent lines.

Starling: Verve nodded as

Starling:

Verve nodded as the red doe bound off. Take her time? Verve was rather bad at that. It had to be done and it had to be done now. Surely, when Starling returned, her tarantula were just attatching the fabric band to the back of the skull. The tall doe seemed concentrated, even though the bugs did the work this cost her a lot of energy. Making knots was not easy. Being doe or being spider. But the spiders legs were more agile, more capable of making the small movement. But unable to make the strong pull that was needed to seal the knot. For that, Verve lowered her head, grabbing one and with her teeth and the other pressed down with her hoof so she could pull without dragging the fabric. Done.

She let out a big ‘phew’ before her eyes fell on Starling, who had been watching her work. ”Oh! Sorry, I didn’t see you arrive.” Her spiders seemed to quickly scurry to the tree next to her. Verve’s eye quickly fell on the red feathers. ”Oh those are beautiful! Are you offering those two to trade?” She grinned widely. Two would be perfect! She knew exactly what to do with that. ”That’d be a great trade, would have no problem with that..”

Moon_Blaggy:

Verve had no issue being nice to anyone who came up to her. The doe seemed sweet, so why not. ”Hello!” She cheerfully replied. ”You’re welcome to join us!” She had been looking for a place to craft today, but she didn’t mind anyone joining her. ”Who are you? My name’s Verve.” Quite direct today!

--------------------------------------
Sorry for us leaving later, Verve gets really nervous in big groups XD Deer just kept coming! Which is fine, but yeah Sticking out tongue

Inca:

She looked up when she heard hoofsteps come into her direction. ”Oh hello!” She smiled at the buck. It seemed her name had started to get some sort of fame, for everyone knew hers and she knew noone’s! ”Well, I guess you know more about me than I about you. What’s your name?” She meant it in no harm, found it quite funny. The other deer seemed to stutter, perhaps nervousness? She tried to look as nice as she could, which could be difficult with her skull-like paintwork on her face. A nice smile always made a big difference though.

"Thank you" Kaya smiled and joined to Verve, she enjoyed the company of tall doe and it seemed that they can chat with her for a long time. "My name is Kaya, I am very pleased to meet you". The little doe eyed with interest Verve, her skin was beautiful painted, her antlers adorned the various suspension. Curiosity did not keep in Kaya "Very beautiful decorations on you, I think need to have a special talent to create such as these!"

AAA! I had no idea you would

AAA! I had no idea you would be drawing a pic of her wearing it, too. ;A; That is gorgeous. I'm so glad I decided to take it, she looks wonderful. c:

---
She shivered at the site of the large spider. She wasn't too fond of spiders... When it scurried away and Verve announced she had finished, she pulled herself up with a huge smile. She walked over and picked up the skull. "May I try it on?" She managed to gently scoop up the skull so that it fit perfectly on her head. She twirled around, and barely even noticed the doe had spoken to her. "Oh! Oh yes, certainly. I hope you like them!" She smiled and walked only a few steps away where there was a puddle on the ground. She looked at her reflection, and staring right back at her was this gorgeous looking doe, with a gorgeous looking skull. She didn't say much though, she didn't like being big-headed...

"Thankyou! Thankyou so much! You have no idea how much this means to me." She bowed to Verve, the skull didn't even budge. It would be very easy to move around whilst wearing it. Before she left to show off her new treasure to her friends, she said her last words. "If there is anything else I can do for you, Verve, don't hesitate to ask."

"My name is Twilight, though

"My name is Twilight, though most people just call me Light" He said, his stutter forgotten. Light looked down at himself, still thinking that he was more plain than most. "I hear you are a good craftswoman..." He paused, "If it not too much trouble, could you make something for me? Maybe with theses, if you like?" The buck dropped the rose and feather on the ground, and looked up at her to see what the doe would say.

At first the buck was

At first the buck was startled at her sudden words, but soon he gave a laugh. "I am sorry to bother you, Verve," he paused, "I didn't know you were sleeping!" He lay down beside the black doe, flicking his tails slowly across the grass. "My name is Blue. Not very exciting, I know..."
Blue crossed his legs, and moved his head upwards with a certain elegance, imagining the pretty necklace he might have in a while. Preference? Hmm... I'm quite a fan of beads, feathers and stones. But really, it's up to you, you are the artist!" he smiled, opening his jaw to yawn and reviling his long, dragon-like tongue.

No problem at all, take all the time you need!
I'm away on holidays for another two weeks anyway, so there's no rush here.
I'll gladly make something for Verve to craft with, that will be fun, and it's a nice chance to do something other than deer for a change. <3

Moon_Blaggy:
”Pleased to meet you Kaya.” Verve seemed cheerful enough today. The smaller doe looked kind. ”Thanks!” She replied to the compliment. ”I guess I do, I don’t think I’ve seen anyone else do it. I get a bit of help though” She winked.

Starling:
Ooh uhm, have a transparent version: Clicky! I noticed you had it on the top of her bio, may look better transparent? XD

------------------------------

Ah she had caught Starlings gaze towards the spider. For a moment she had forgotten not everyone’s fond of them. Atleast it was gone quick again. Well, gone. Hiding behind the tree. Out if sight, out of mind. ”Of course! I want to see if it fits!” She giggled as Starling twirled around. She herself took a good close look of the red feathers. They did look unique. Would surely give a good phoenix image off.. Images of headdresses and shoulderdecorations flew through her head. For a moment, when she looked up to Starling again.

”You’re very welcome, it means a lot to me that you like it.” The bow was returned, the tall doe nodding in reply to her last sentence. ”Thank you for the offer! I will keep it in mind”
A pleased grin was plastered on her features as the doe bound off. She herself, picked up the red feathers to hide them in her stash, and plot out her next work. Perhaps some beadwork first to get her mind away from sanding..

Inca:
”Twilight huh? That’s an interesting name..” It was a nice type of weather too. She grinned at his compliment. ”They say that huh? That’s nice..” She looked at the objects he brought. An interesting combination surely. ”Hmm.. Do you want them into two things, or rather brought together in one object? And anything in mind as what kind of object?” She’d better ask right? The more questions, the surer she could be. If the other let it to her, then that was okay too.

Wire:
”Oh you didn’t bother me. I had just been slacking off slightly, maybe.” She laughed. A loud yawn escaped her for a moment. ”Pardon me.. Anyway, Blue sounds like a fine name, why would it not be exciting? Verve’s not that special either.” Bluntly, it meant enthusiasm, liveliness. And in a way she absolutely lived up to her name. ”Well, thanks for the freedom, though you’re the customer and I want to make sure you like it!” She grinned again. ”For example, I can see you like flowers. Is that something you’d like me to include?” She eyed his grin for a second. It didn’t seem to startle her too much, perhaps because she wasn’t too normal herself either. She couldn’t help but wonder what his diet was like.

Ah alright! That’s fine! XD Oh you don’t need to draw it out, but if you feel like it why not? Otherwise, yeah, no worries XD

Moon_Blaggy:
”Sure! Anything more specific you’d like to have?” Verve could always use more projects! She’d rather load herself with work than be bored. ”I’m glad you like my work, that’s always nice to hear.” The little doe seemed so kind!

--------------------

Haha! It’s fine, I like to! Sorry I took so long though, I got very taken up by craftwork today XD And I’m not sure! I think it started with when I wanted to give Verve an African face because I really love their features, and when I went to research more I realized decorations would really fit that theme well too. Then in a hallelujah-moment in the shower, I realized I could very well use the bug-obsession she had a year ago with it, and tadah!
Oh yes! Sorry we are so unresponsive in-forest, I brought Verve in then went for dinner XD

Sablekat:
Aw thank you! I’m glad to hear you think so XD It’s been a lot of fun!

Inca:
Verve chuckled. ”No, but that’s okay. I will see what I can do.” She had to find a way to preserve this rose! Perhaps she knew how. There was something she had hoped to work with for a while.. ”But you have to promise me if you don’t end up liking it so I can make something else, okay?” It was always a big guess if she had to make something for someone who didn’t know what they wanted. It could be a flop, she had no idea of their tastes. But that just made the challenge better.

Freyja:
Really? Yay! XD Yeah sure go ahead! I can also make a little starting post for you if you like?

Aria, still dizzy and nausous

Aria, still dizzy and nausous from her morning sickness approached the doe. She had heard that she made things for others and was wanting to find out if she could receive something to help alleviate this illness (she is unaware that she is actually pregnant). "Um excuse me" she began shyly,"I ...heard you make things and um...was hoping you could make something for me" She shifted her hooves lightly and looked around nervously. Aria never approached others usually. But if it could rid her of her illness then she was determined to break from her shell, if only a little.

At her request, her curious look did not falter. ”Make something..? Uhm, that’s a big vague.” She tried to smile politely. ”What do you need? Is it a gift, ehm..” Taking another good look at the doe, she didn’t seem to be in the best mood. ”You sure I’m the kind of person you need..?” She asked, a little confused perhaps.

Moon_Blaggy:
Verve nodded. ”I can too actually! I’ll try to see what I can mean for you.” The other doe seemed so cheerful at this, it made Verve happy too. ”No problem! But thank me when it’s done and you like it.” Verve winked playfully. The doe hadn’t seen anything yet!

Orinocoflow:
Ah yes, she had feared something like that. Verve let out a sigh. ”I fear you have the wrong doe in front of you then.. I can’t heal anyone. I make jewellery. I can’t cure illness. If I could do that I’m pretty sure I would be an extremely busy doe.” She did not work miracles. Some of her wards could perhaps help, but she herself believed it was more the faith in the object that did. If the doe was sick, she would not give her a ward and make her believe that’d heal her. It wouldn’t. ”I’m sorry, I don’t think I can help you.” That was the first time she had to turn someone down, and she seemed to feel rather bad about it too.

Moon_Blaggy.

Time had passed, and without knowing whether Verve was finished with her requests or not, the ginger doe had collected her payment, all bundled up into a large leaf that she now carried the ends of in her mouth like a sling. It had been surprising, the things she had discovered on her treasure hunt; one only had to search to find something unique, it seemed.

Brushing through the long tendrils of a willow, situated on the heights above the pond, the doe lay down there and waited until the craftswoman showed herself, however long it would take.

Freyja: She had been so busy

Freyja:

She had been so busy lately, it was a very enjoyable time for her. The tall doe walked calmly towards the pond. From there on, she could find the river, where she could drink. Much like her father, Verve had no interest in drinking from the muddy bank waters. Better get it from the source. But her orientation in this forest wasn’t that amazing yet..
Her eyes fell on a figure under a willow nearby. Why that even came to her attention was unclear to her first, until she recognized the doe.
”Hey Sorrel!” she called out as she walked towards her. It seemed the other doe did not have to wait long indeed. ”I finished your ward, as well as the gift for Sonne, if you’d like to see?” She tilted her head curiously.

Jinxyness:
Here you go! If you need anything else, just say so ♥.

The doe looked up and smiled.

The doe looked up and smiled. "I was hoping i'd run into you," she spoke whilst dipping her head to the tall female. "Oh! Sure. I wasn't sure if you'd be done or not, but I wanted to bring my payment either way." With this, the ginger stood up, leaving the bundle of the ground. She reached down to gnaw at the point where the leaves were joined so it would open; inside was another bundle, filled with honey, a pile of dried pond weeds, some bird wing-bones and a few rusty copper coins. "I found these in the ruins...I don't know what they are, they they're still shiny." She nudged the coins with her nose before looking at the small wrap of leaves. "And that's honey.....there was a small hive in the birch forest, just within my reach. I thought you could use it to stick things together. Or eat!" Next came the bones. "These were in the creek, buried a little. I think they're from a wing...,"

Verve tilted her head

Verve tilted her head curiously at the little package. She let out a chuckle at the honey. ”Oh I know what to do with that.” She had two very cute brothers, she was sure they’d like a treat. Her gaze got fixed on the coins though. ”Around the ruins you say? That’s really neat..” She hadn’t really thought this forest held much treasure, but perhaps she should open her eyes more. Verve nodded her head at Sorrel’s deduction. ”They are, yes, not a very small bird either. These will be really handy for making dreamcatchers.” The pond weeds would likely be too, that could be an interesting combination.. ”These are great! I’m already having ideas of what to make with them!” She seemed especially interested in the coins. Those seemed rather unique.

”Oh, I’d almost forget.” She chuckled as she sat down next to the other doe. From her back, a blue and a red spider made their way from her side to the ground, only to stop in front of Sorrel. With their long, front legs they spread out two works, one each. The blue spider laid out a headdress, with a very light broken white colored amulet in the middle. Verve lifted her hoof to hover it above the work. ”This is for your protection. It’s something they call a voodoo amulet, it’s supposed to protect the wearer from evil. Or well, whatever you need protection for. It is in the end an amulet though, so don’t start running into fires.” She smiled at the other. She was sure the other hadn’t planned to, but still. ”I hope this will help you with your problem.” She could never be sure. The reassurance her dream catcher had already helped another though made her more faithful this would help Sorrel too.

Next up was the red spider with a large work of beads. Red, white and grey beads most dominant, a few feathers hanging from the bottom. ”I was admittedly not too sure what to make for a stag.. It can’t be too girly you see. So I kept the form straight. It’s for a front ankle of a large adult stag, so I hope it fits. I kind of calculated from dad’s size..” But just slightly smaller, she had imagined. ”I hope it will make a good gift, at least.” She seemed a bit more insecure about this one.

"Well, i'm glad you like

"Well, i'm glad you like them...I'm not really sure what the round things are, but they're pretty at least." Honey was uncommon, but she'd known the risks in getting some. And as for the wing, that had been luck, she supposed, that a bird had fallen in at some point...or whatever had happened to it. She wondered why it did not continue to live; there were skeletal deer, why not skeletal creatures of all kinds? It was baffling.

When the spiders emerged the doe watched them curiously, having never seen any arachnid with such vibrant colours. She paid more attention to the crafts than the spiders once they were laid out. "It's beautiful! And...i'll do my best, no promises though." The ginger doe smiled playfully. She had a knack for getting into trouble.

Sorrel ooo-ed at the anklet, nosing the feathers gently. "I'm sure he'll love it," she reassured, amused at how big it had to be to fit around an ankle. The ginger certainly was a dwarf among giants at times. "Wherever did you learn to make these things? I've seen others wearing ornaments at times, but I never knew how."

Freyja:

Verve had her clues about what the round things were. It didn't interest her much though, it hadn't interested the tribe either when the pale men came to offer them.
Verve chuckled at the does answer. "That's okay, can't do more after all. Shall I put it on your head?" At the question, the two spiders gently each picked up an end of the headress, lifting it up towards Sorrel.

She gave a small nod when she said he'd like it. She hoped so. The doe looked up when Sorrel asked her how she learned this. "I've spend quite some time outside this forest. Lived with humans.. I don't have the right limbs, but I figured I could use my insects as a substitute. There are things I can't do, of course, but I generally find my way." There was never one way to do something, she had so far always found a way around trouble. "I'm not sure how the others get them, perhaps they stole them?" She had wondered herself as well. Had never seen other deer around the tribe.. But they could have learned like her, of course. Perhaps she should ask someone one day.

The blue buck was glad to

The blue buck was glad to know he hadn't disturbed Verve and sighed contently. "I like the name Verve; I wish that I had a name like that."
He grew excited at the doe's enthusiasm on the new jewelry, and ideas started to form in his mind. Black beads strung around his neck, hanging from his skull. Feathers for his antlers that matched his yellow markings. He spoke out these descriptions to the doe, hoping she would like them. "But please, don't push yourself- something simple is fine." His head shook lightly, dreaming of the final product. "Thank you, Verve." Blue said sincerely.

She smiled at the buck. "Well, thank you." She dipped her head slightly. Admittedly, she wasn't sure how to respond. Blue didn't seem to like his name much and, well, she wasn't going to try and push him into liking it. He likely had his reasons. Quietly, but with a growing grin on her face, she listened to the buck. "Ooh that sounds great! I'd love to try something like that!" It really pleased her someoen would actually give her ideas, inspiration. She was thrown in the deep so often now! This seemed better. "No thanking yet, I haven't finished!" She laughed. "You're welcome anyway though. I do these things for fun, so don't worry."

Seed:
Aw! That'd be great, we'd love to make something for him! XD

This is the place? The Black and White's thoughts were confirmed as the doe came into view. Her heavy decoration was almost dizzying with plenty of bright color and unusual shape. This had to be Verve, there was no way around it. His chin swept the earth as he bowed a greeting, but came up clean. "You... are Miss Verve?" A query slipped from his mouth, the stag still making sure to confirm his findings before continuing. Moss had to crane his head to look at the admittedly taller doe. He wondered how her head did not sweep the trees as she moved through this place. That thought must be swept aside for later, he mused. He did have something extremely special to ask of Verve, after all. The male hoped greatly that she would not deny his request. He had to find a way to hold the cursed gift he was given from the Gods. Verve's expertise at creating trinkets had traveled to his ears through word of mouth, and he hoped she would be able to create such a thing for him.

She had her neck stretched to the side of a tree, where it seemed a decently sized green insect had it's claws reached out to her face. She let it take it's time to crawl on her head, when she heard hoofsteps approach. Her ears and eyes turned into the direction of the newcomer, as the mantis finally had all it's legs on her forehead. "I am yes." She seemed curious, turning her head to look at the black and white stag. The bug itself was happily camping on top of her head. An elegant bow followed, her long limbs making any motion look quite a bit more extreme. "Anything I can do for you, Sir...?" She asked as she stood upright again, head tilted.

To most, the insect on

To most, the insect on Verve's head would incite horror or disgust. Instead, the Mantis inspired curiosity for Moss. "Please, call me Moss." Sir? It was as formal as his calling her 'Miss.' A warm and friendly smile crossed the stag's face. "I am very glad to have found you. " That was definitely true, and quite visible. "I have seen your works all around the forest. A friend of mine, Starling, wears the skull you painted." Yes, yes, Verve already knew these things. Moss, get to your point! "I noticed the dream-catchers over the skull's eyes. Do you hold knowledge of magic?" The stag's words were all forthright. It should have been apparent to him that she knew something. He was just unsure how much or what kind.

"Moss it is then." A small nod, a friendly smile. The tall doe knew her manners. She let out a chuckle at the mention of Starlings skull. "She really liked it, it's nice to hear she's still wearing it too. Good advertisement that one." She was pretty proud of that skull. She nodded at the mentioning of the dreamcatchers. She had made some before, she was told they worked. Which was amazing to her. "Magic?" Verve tilted her head. Did she? "I hold knowledge of superstition and symbols. Not sure if you could call that magic. I made an amulet not long ago to protect someone, but I cannot guarantee it works. The symbols stand for protection, but I personally believe it is her faith in the amulet that makes it work." She believed in the power of the mind, surely.

"I'm not sure if that's what you want to hear.." Her expression betrayed her dissapointment in herself. She had no superpowers or ability's. Yes she could control her little friend here.. The does eyes cast up towards the bug, which was munching away on a fly. "I do have some sort of ability. I can control most insects their movements. I don't know if that'd be of use..?" She wouldn't call it magic, it just was something she had learned over the course of time. Right?

The stag nodded politely as

The stag nodded politely as she spoke, taking in each and every word through his white-furred ears. At the mention of her not quite knowing magic, his tail may have flicked once. Moss knew what he needed, and she definitely could help him create it. When she mentioned her ability to control insects, Moss' tail may have flicked twice. It was almost considered a wag, just maybe. "Faith is quite an important thing. Especially so in what I have been thinking up." His eyes glinted, black as they were. "Does that control extend to Spiders by chance? I have yet to find one small enough that it might make a sturdy and silky web inside of this for me..." The stag reached his hind leg up to itch the side of one of his shoulders. A rather audible thud followed this, and Moss kicked forward a golf-ball-sized acorn to rest between he and Verve. It had been cleaned out rather thoroughly. (This was most likely one of Moss' late evening snacks. He had a fondness for acorns.) The various shades of brown on this hollow seed seemed to undulate like the bark of the tree it had fallen from, none other than the Old Oak herself. There was no cap, either. It must have gotten smashed when he pried open the nut for its meat. "... as well as adding some sort of bead-and-bone bit that I could pierce through my ear." Moss peered at Verve and the brilliant little bug she had perched on her head. "I will offer these to you if you would like them in return for any help you could offer me, Miss Verve." Yes, Moss had come prepared.

Several large scales fell free as he shook his body. In his past life, he had been a rather large Armor Koi, he would say around 34 inches long, and these obsidian and pearl scales showed it with sheer size. The shining black and white things had been tucked into his fur before he came to visit, having no pockets to place them in. Twelve in all, they made a bright little pile of black and white. There had been fourteen, but a crow had taken a pair of them when he had been turning his head to tuck one away.

"Yes, that does include

"Yes, that does include spiders.." She looked at him curiously when he dropped an acorn from.. God knows where. His shoulder fur she was sure. She seemed to inspect it curiously as he spoke on. Surely a small spider was needed for this, as she took a look inside the acorn. None of her big spiders their hiney was going to fit in. "So it should go through your ear in the end?" She was a little lost on the description now. "From what I'm gathering, you want a web inside an acorn, and then the whole acorn should be able to hang from your ear with a little decoration?" She wasn't sure if she understood.
Though as he shook the scales out, her expression seemed to perk up a little, looking at the shinies. "Those are really nice, good shades too.." She loved black and white. "Well, I'm sure I could do something for you for these, but I am not sure if I understood what you meant. And do you have your ear pierced, or do I need to pierce it for you?" She seemed to smile a little at this. She hadn't pierced yet, though knew how to. She wouldn't mind trying it out.

His nervous excitement upon

His nervous excitement upon seeing a creature like Verve, let alone asking her to create the vessel that would hold his voice, had gotten the better of him. "The bauble you describe is most certainly correct. A web inside an acorn, and then the whole acorn should be able to hang from your ear with a little decoration." He repeated her words with a nod. "Ah, pardon my round-about way of description. I admit to being rather excited for this." Moss apologized. The stag hoped she would not be put off by such an admission.

'And do you have your ear pierced, or do I need to pierce it for you?' The question caused the Black and White's tail to again move slightly. "I have to admit, I have no knowledge of how to pierce it myself. I would not mind the help." This was admitted with a chuckle. Moss definitely knew what he was getting into, but was stumbling a little bit in preparation.

She nodded. "No it's fine, I got it so I guess you were more clear than you thought you were." She smiled at the other. The decoration itself was a little odd to her. A hollow acorn with a web in it? Was that pretty? Seemed mainly sticky. But she wouldn't question. The doe let out a chuckle at his excitement. "That's nice to hear, I will do my best."
The doe stepped closer when he seemed to agree with her piercing his ear. She seemed to take a closer look at it, it wasn't like hers. His ears likely had more room to be pierced. "I don't think it will hurt much for you. I'll make sure to finish the decoration before I start piercing you though. Otherwise you'll walk around with a potentionally useless hole in your ear." Couldn't have that.

"Certainly." It was curious

"Certainly." It was curious to see the spiders behaving this way; the doe wondered if she'd trained them, or just found them. She dipped her head low to the ground and watched them with curiosity burning.

"That sounds thrilling! Maybe i'll run into some humans. I've never seen them, only heard." She could vaguely remember her mother warning her as a child of the two-legged beasts that fired hot stones...it all sounded so unreal and fantastical that at the time, she'd put it down as a mere cautionary tale for fawns. She'd heard differently upon arriving in the forest, however.

"There's a lot I still don't know about this forest. It'll probably be an eye-opener leaving here, then coming back..it all sounds so different out there."
Mis's picture

Verve watched the spiders

Verve watched the spiders closely when Sorrel went to inspect them. As long as her focus was on the spiders, they would behave how she wanted them to. Otherwise, they'd likely put up a threatpose for the other doe.
The two each grabbed a side of the headress. "Just lower your head on the ground, I think that's easiest." The doe instructed, as the two spiders each gently dragged the necklace over Sorrel's muzzle to her forehead. There, the amulet had it's place. The spiders turned the long beaded thread a few times over Sorrel's horns to tie it down. What was left of the lenght would hang down her neck. "There you go." Verve said, and the spiders scurried off quickly. Back into a hiding-hole.

"I think there are different kind of humans out there." She said, remembering her fathers stories, and the stories another deer had told her recently. "Mine were very kind, but I'd be careful with them anyway." She was sure Sorrel would, though.
The tall doe nodded at Sorrel's statement. "Yes, true. The main thing I learned is that this forest is a prison." A drawn out breath left her lungs. "But let's hope you finda more positive view." Verve chuckled. She shouldn't be such a mopey doe.

A small black doe steps

A small black doe steps forward on dainty blue hooves, she smiles up at the tall doe whom she has come to know quite well now. To her happiness she is seeing the doe grow and become known here as well, her works starting to create quite the stir. Many of these things have caught Herla’s eye as well, always a doe to appreciate beautiful things. And not a few times, Herla has come upon Verve busy at work, laboring over another trinket. So the feathered doe has brought a few things with her, some things she hopes will be of interest to Verve, things she might perhaps be able to use. In her mouth she carries a basket, one she has made herself, the craft of weaving being one she has grown more adept at. “Verve, I have some things for you,” she says gently, placing the basket before the other’s feet, the weave is tight, so finally done it can carry water without leaking. But it does not contain water this time, in it are three feathers from her own mantle and nestled upon them is the aged skull of an owl, a bit of feathers and hide still clinging to its cracked surface. “I know it’s not much, but I hope you might be able to use these things.”
