How many years has it been?

Has spent the last few months with little in the way of drama. Content to be bored most of the time, although she does at times feel quite lonely. As such, she has been happily reconnecting with Illrose and Carmine when she comes across them. In particular, surprised and incredibly grateful when first Illrose and then Carmine sought her out in the deep fog of October and stayed with her for a number of days until it passed; the mist bound her senses uncomfortably and left her on edge and feeling blind, but having a steady presence greatly eased that stress.

A little more melancholy now that the snow has arrived, often lost in thought. Not really a fan of the cold. Spending a little more time around Eraline's grave when she's on her own.

He let out another snort. "Oh really now, yes?" he snarled back at her. "Have tried, yes? No where to find..." he growled.... tucking on a feather that hung in his face .... now really bothering him. "... well is here now... at least... second time it was you... not mother..." he grunted, finally getting rid of the feather. "What was name again? Phaios, yes?" he looked at her again.

Her ears lay back. "Yes, Phaios," she answers curtly. "And I told you, Irie runs off when her mother is sleeping. She probably doesn't know yet." The doe gets to her feet, nudging the fawn up as well. "Surely you've dozed off without intending to before? Come on, Irie. Let's go find mama." After a nod towards Illrose, she heads off towards the birch, prompting the fawn with firm but gentle bumps from her nose.

"Sleeping a whole day, yes?

"Sleeping a whole day, yes? Heavy sleeper... or bad searcher..." he growled, watching the doe leaving with the fawn... he had been quite a long time with her... and this forest wasn't as big as a mother would't find her child within a short time. He snorted again, continuing to get rid of his 'dress' now... and obviously having his own twisted thoughts about this....

Phai snorts to herself, but

Phai snorts to herself, but makes no further comment on Jack's remarks; it's probably safer that she bite her tongue on the matter. She'd have to have a chat with Aria when they found her.

The small white doe

The small white doe approached her mother looking absolutely horrid. Her fur was messy and unkempt. Her feathers looked a little torn and ragged and her eyes had barely that sparkle they had before. She moved next to her and snuggled with her and the fawns and said not a word.

Phaios begins smoothing down

Phaios begins smoothing down the ruffled fur as soon as her daughter has settled in, her tongue rasping the hairs gently into place. "You look tired, Dove," she murmurs between swipes. "What's going on?" The doe had hardly seen Aria for a couple of days, it seemed. She'd been distracted with other things, though it appears she'd overlooked one of the important ones.

Her frown can only grow as

Her frown can only grow as Aria describes her troubles. Bear she'd known a little something about, and Irie's troublemaking capabilities were nothing new, but when had Akhenaton vanished? And this Zash! The doe's ears lay back as she works to put a face to the name. Whose head did she have to beat in now? Well... she could worry about that later.
"Mm... The only thing you can always count on is that things will change, Ari. Sometimes it gets better, sometimes it gets worse, but we can't move backwards. Sometimes there are things you just have to learn to accept, and keep moving forward." Phai sighs softly as she drapes herself about her family. "You've got two little ones who depend on you. I know it's hard - but do keep trying, for their sake if not your own. Is there something you haven't tried with Irie yet? She likes games. We were practicing colors the other day. Make staying close a reward somehow."

She sighed. Of course she knew her mother would answer like that. "Yes...I've played with her...a lot..but she runs off..and Authieu is either sleeping or too tired to run..I can't leave him either...and she won't return when I call to her...she even seemed nervous of me once"she answered, her tone low. "this is so hard mother...."

Pff. Had to be twins. "If you let her go, she's going to keep going. Authieu will be alright for a few minutes if he stays put. Maybe we can find a couple deer who will help keep an eye on Irie, and teach her she can only be away from you if she's with one of them..." Except she couldn't think of anyone off the top of her head, aside from herself. Ramsus kept giving Irie dirty looks, Thane's family was absolutely out of the question, she certainly couldn't ask it of poor Jo and Henna... And apparently bird-face is just gone.
"Kids are hard," she agrees softly. "One day they'll be able to protect themselves, though, and it'll be a little easier. You'll always worry, but at least it won't be as warranted." Phai smiles a bit.

Aria trotted through the

Aria trotted through the forest. Her eyes glancing up at the canopy above her. Ever since Akhenaton had left on his journey of discovery the doe had mostly been alone. She'd made some friends but she still felt lonely. Her daughter was missing and she worried greatly for her. She had looked all over the forest and there was no sign. Authieu had been wondering as well but at least she could find him. Now she wanted to see her mother. She knew no matter what the doe would accept her presence and that is all she asked for. She finally came into her view and a smile spread on her face. Picking up speed she greeted her mother with a warm nuzzle. "Hello mother" she said softly and kept her face buried in her fluff just a bit longer.

"Ari," Phai answers softly in return as she lifts her head to meet her daughter's nuzzle from where she reclines on the ground. She'd meant to seek out the younger doe the night before, but politeness had kept her restricted to other company and so she's quite glad to see Aria now. "How are you, dove?" the doe inquires.

She smiled and looked up at her mother's face with a smile. "I am alright. I suppose a bit lonely but alright"she added taking a step back so they could have a proper conversation. "I cannot find Irie. I fear she is mad at me and I am not sure why...I try my best"she said her tone trailing off and she sighed."Akhenaton is gone as well..he wanted to see what was across the ocean...in this world he found for me. I let him go ...he has been so different as of late that I had to let him go"she added another sigh. Her gaze moved from her mother to look around. The silence passing between them."But I'm ok...."she said softly

Irie wandering again. There's

Irie wandering again. There's no huge surprise. "Perhaps she just needs a little space. Older younglings can be moody." The news about Akhenaton, however, is more unusual. Phaios muses on it for a moment. "The ocean, hm? I've only heard of such a thing." Her gaze wanders across the Forest, as though seeking some hidden place beyond where the fairy tale might lie. "You miss him," she states quietly after a moment, feeling it is a safe assumption to make. Phai pauses a moment more before asking, "Different how?"

She was silent for a moment

She was silent for a moment before looking back at her,"He seemed...distant...like he had so much on his mind. I know he loves me but...I don't know exactly how to explain it...he just wasn't like he use to be...when I first met him"her voice trailed off softly. She agreed about Irie. She was always a moody daughter, much like her father. It was something that scared her and she hoped the doe would not be harsh if she were to ever have fawns with Akhenaton.

"Everything changes, dove. The world was purple when I was born. I once had wings and fangs, and now I've got hooves." If that wasn't change, she didn't know what was. "You've grown a lot since you two first met and, I'm sure, so has he. Many things have happened since then." Her head tilts lightly to one side as she studies the doe beside her. "Have you asked him what he's got on his mind? He may just not know how to tell you."
OrinocoFlow's picture

She nodded "I know it

She nodded "I know it changes. And...I wanted to but well I can't now. No use crying over spilled milk right?" she said with a sideways smile as she turned to look at her mother.

Puzzlement knots her brows

Puzzlement knots her brows together. "Spilled milk..?" she echoes. How does milk spill? It's conveniently tucked away in... oh, never mind. Phai shakes her head. "No use in crying, no." At least that much made sense. "He'll come back and you two will find a way to work it out, if the trip doesn't manage to clear his head."
OrinocoFlow's picture

She smiled wider,"yes of

She smiled wider,"yes of course. Till then I hope to spread my wings so to speak...try and be more outgoing than I have been. I am not sure if I'll ever reach Irie...but I think I need to strengthen myself before I attempt that."she laughed though she did so to hide the worry she still bore.

"You are stronger than you

"You are stronger than you know, dearest," Phaios replies, reaching to bump the leather of her nose against the back of Aria's nearest ear. Though the whispers of a smile flit about the corners of her mouth, her eyes are solemn. "You have fought your whole life. You've courted pains others cannot lay claim to and emerged alive and well at their ends. I've no doubt you'll soar, little dove."
OrinocoFlow's picture

A laugh escaped the pale doe

A laugh escaped the pale doe as her mother's nose bumped her ear. That spot always tickled. This brought her mood up greatly and she turned to look at her with a fire in her eyes. "Thank you mother, you've been with me through the hardest times as well. I know that no matter how I feel I'm never alone. You gave me the courage"she said moving closer and wrapped her neck about her in a hug then added a deep nuzzle. "I love you mother.."

Phaios chuckles softly, glad

Phaios chuckles softly, glad to see her daughter's feistiness return. But thanks? The elder tucks her little one close, but holds an answer closer. How could she tell brave little Aria that she'd pulled her mother along as much as it was the other way around? Thanks is owed, not due, but the doe tends to fumble with such heavy words.
"Ah, Ari... My little heart-song. I love you, too."
It would have to do.
OrinocoFlow's picture

She sighed happily then

She sighed happily then nestled down on the grass. "I have nothing to do.May I stay here and sleep with you mother?"she said smiling at her knowing full well what that answer was going to be.

She laughed at her mother's jest. Making herself comfortable she took to gazing at the scenery with her mother. It was like when she was still young and innocent. Oh how she missed those days. A thought lay on her mind however that she did not tell her. Though the doe was not sure, the possibility that she was pregnant with Akhenaton's child...or children was there. Should she tell her or wait till she was sure? The doe could not decide.

One shoulder rests lightly

One shoulder rests lightly against the trunk of a tree; the brown-furred doe rarely rests away from one, though exactly why she cannot say. Maybe there's just something reassuring about the touch of a living thing so firmly rooted in its existence. The view is a familiar one, though if she had to paint a picture she'd never get it exactly right. Even intimate knowledge is imperfect; she could never place every leaf and blade of grass just so. Regardless, she's content to shut her eyes and trust that the scene remains as it has been for as long as she can recall in this place, and likely for a great stretch of time before. A quietly lilting melody makes its presence known, though tentatively; rarer than finding the doe away from a tree is to find her humming in another's presence.
OrinocoFlow's picture

Aria found a smile forming as

Aria found a smile forming as she heard her mother humming behind her. Sapphire eyes closed and she swayed softly to it's tune. Each muscle began to relax one after the other until she felt a sigh ripple throughout her entire being. Relaxation. Full utter peace was now in her mind and soul. She felt like she could let go of her worries. If only for this moment. She could let go and relax and let her mind be encompassed by the pure, wondrous darkness of sleep.

A gold-graced eye peers down

A gold-graced eye peers down at Aria as she catches the sigh. Ah, good... the doe probably needs her rest, if she's been searching for Irie and worrying after Akhenaton.
The tune shifts with her thoughts, a second-nature melody with no chorus and a short, simple over-arcing theme. While calling it a good composition might be a long shot, she could probably do worse with her improvisation. A meandering mind leads her to wondering if, perhaps, she might pick up a different sort of song from the deer of other worlds. Maybe she would ask Akhen to sing of Egypt some time.

For the first time in a long

For the first time in a long time left the territory embraced for his kingdom. Her dance steps were heading straight for Phaios, perhaps the last member of the family, who still managed to believe and not to consider him a traitor ...

She came to her wariness next big black beast on the site. The last few steps and stopped. Pricked up his ears when he lowered his head and gently touched his nose to my grandmother's head. "Grandma ... It's me, Irie. Are you awake?"
Phaios's picture

The doe yawns. "Hm? Oh!

The doe yawns. "Hm? Oh! Irie." She looks up at her granddaughter with a smile. "I am now." Ramsus and his protests are mostly ignored, though she gives the big stag a stern stomp of her hoof when he doesn't stop. After he departs, Phaios settles on the ground again and turns her attention back to Irie. "Are you well? Your mother said you've been missing."

"How can she miss, when her

"How can she miss, when her eyes and heart only for Akhenaton and for their future, for their own happiness?" frowned. She of doing nothing from Ramsus angry, but she was surprised that it started gratuitously stomp and protest and Irie return him his behaviour. She will not listen to fool with serrated jaws, although fool with serrated jaws can be very dangerous, because it's really stupid and he feels good, that's stupid, she noticed...

Then her attention diverted back to Phaios.
"Since they are together, as if I did not exist and brother. Ignore us. Was not looking for us when we're gone... Simply does not exist." looked worriedly into the country. "Just not for her and she us "missing"? It's definitely just one of the silly tricks to bring us back so she had a good time..."
Phaios's picture

Phaios frowns, too, surprised

Phaios frowns, too, surprised at Irie's reasons for avoiding Aria. "She's been very worried, Irie. She does love you both - very much. I don't think she has meant to ignore you. Have you tried talking to her about the way you feel?" She can't help but wonder how long poor Irie had been convinced Aria was ignoring her in favor of Akhen.

"Once I realized that

"Once I realized that Akhenaton's not my father. He did not care about me and tolerates me and brother just because it can be added to make mom children," she said, lowering her ears. "It's like my real dad and mom is just stupid...!" complained like a little girl. "They say it is an animal that the world had learned only produce children." she said sharply.

It was as if their words spoken really angry Angry... Perhaps it is due to the behavior of her family, perhaps due to lack of attention in the past, perhaps due to incomplete family, which was due to rush for more children, torn and unstable, all the bad things from Athair provoked... "Why nobody told me what dad did, why I have to tell myself? Why nobody told me that it was the king?" she snapped after her at once.

"Why did you wish his death? I could have father, who will love me and stand by me, which for me will be fear and worry... Mom found someone who did not love me and who will not try to change anything!!!" cried.
Phaios's picture

Oh boy. This sounds like a

Oh boy. This sounds like a mess. "Akhenaton loves your mother, Irie. He hasn't had children before, though, so when you two were born he had to start learning. He's still learning." It's the next part that really gets to her, though. Athair, a king? Of what, bad decisions? And how on earth had Irie found out about him?
"No, Akhenaton is not your blood father, but the stag who is was cruel and hurt your mother badly. No one told you because you are young. Aria was waiting for the right time to tell you. He is not your father," she insists firmly. "Blood does not make a family. Aria is not my blood. That means you are not my blood, but you are my granddaughter," the doe adds more gently as she reaches out to nuzzle the younger deer. "I never wished for that stag's death. I only wanted my daughter and her children to be safe. Akhenaton does care, Irie. You're right, he seems a little stupid because he just doesn't know how to show it. But you can help him learn how, if you're willing to stop being so angry and to try."

"Love, pcha... It just means

"Love, pcha... It just means 'try a little more'. Love does not exist!" she snapped at her. "Because if there were, he would love me as well as his own daughter? Even so he did not accept me, so why I should I try to give him another chance? Mother should be the one that he had to make, not me. He was to be the one who had to try, not me! Simply that's what I say... they only want their happiness, common children... to me and Authieu do not care..." Irie began to wail. Her mother's eyes filled with tears... And tears to Athair certainly had never been...

The front legs she started breaking. "I hate her, Grandma... She wants more children, but she could not even take care of me and brother. Whether it is born... I will kill they."
Phaios's picture

"I love you, Irie," she

"I love you, Irie," she answers quietly. "Do you not love me, then, if love 'does not exist'?" Phaios looks rather sad at the thought. "A relationship goes two ways. If only one is working on it, it will fail. Yes, he needs to try - but so do you. He is still trying, but you've given up. Talk to him. Maybe you two can at least understand each other."
The doe moves to pull Irie closer when she begins crying, but the last outburst makes her ears lay flat. "Irie... You're angry, I understand. But to kill anyone - especially a fawn who has not done anything - is wrong. It only makes more anger and hate; it doesn't fix the problem. Besides, there aren't any other children yet. Something like that isn't going to happen any time soon, I'm sure. Your mother knows raising children is a lot of hard work. You got yourself into plenty of trouble for her to keep up with, after all."
She pauses for a moment before asking, "Who told you about your blood-father?" Phai still couldn't figure out where she would have heard about him, if Aria hadn't told her, unless Athair himself had decided to show his face again. The thought made her heart sink.

"Why does everyone want to

"Why does everyone want to kill me? Then why all blame me if I did not do anything?" she complained. Her eyes cried more than he could. "The jagged beast hates me... and I did not do anything, right, only I was born in a stupid place and stupid doe!" cry on. She could not calm down. Blamed fawns even before they were born, is accused that she tore a family that is scattered in all directions and that she now has a family. Absolutely not record grandmother, who told her that he loved her. As if that feeling lost faith and lost faith in the family.

Her cried, before sufficient comfort and the question of Athair hit her. "It was an accident. I ran for a long time, and then I bumped into him. Offered me that I pay into the dry and warm under the board at Playground. I noticed the white antlers. Such little brother is growing and has an equally honeyed eyes... again and I look like him in color and have his feathers... I asked him where are he from, who ever it is. We talked for a long time, he told the story of its history. Then told me that he is my real father." she added. "He told me everything, and that I was out of violence and therefore the world hates me... Every reason to attack me, everyone hated ... He offered me..." silent.
Phaios's picture

The lack of reply to her

The lack of reply to her question does not go unnoticed, but she says nothing about it for now. Instead, she answers Irie's question. "Because some deer are stupid sometimes," she grumbles. "Don't mind Ramsus; he just has a bad temper, and that stag made him so angry... You look so much like him, it reminds Ramsus of him, I suppose, so he gets angry when he sees you. It isn't your fault. I'm sorry he's dumb." She'd have to give Ram a good kick in the nose later or something... If she could reach.
Hearing that Irie had encountered Athair in the Forest does nothing for her rapidly declining mood. "He is dangerous, Irie. If you see him again, stay away. What did he offer you?"
