Well I have been trying to find a good set in game, but have been having a rough time getting spelled to even see what might look nice.

Hototo is peculiar, and I am torn as to which set would represent him finest in forest.

Hototo

Any opinions? Or clever ideas?

Once I have something chosen, would anyone be available to help me put it together?

EDIT: Alright, you all are helpful for my brainstorming. Thanks for the input, it really has made a difference.

I think I might like this option. I know the antlers aren't perfect, however, no antlers really look right. So I chose those that can carry poppies. They also represent the foreward jut and angle of his antlers. I cannot perfectly represent his appearance in this detail, but I can still represent his character. Hototo, as I mentioned, has a fondness for poppies and the color red. I was delighted to find that your suggestions led me to experiment with the crying idol mask, which I had not though of initially. I think it is all the more meaningful paired with the poppies. Here is Hototo's final design, paired with an experpt from his -=Thoughts=- which may shed light on the choices made.

Antelope pelt? Maybe even the

Antelope pelt? Maybe even the spotted real-deer, but that is a bit far-fetched.
Not sure on the mask. Crying perhaps? Noh? Or maybe no mask at all? Maybe Butterfly.
Great Whites would be too big I think. Normal antlers? Belugas would look nice, but they wouldn't represent the design that well.

If you're in the forest, I'm always ready for a round of extensive spellspamming.

This thing is really useful

This thing is really useful in figuring out a set for your deer.

As far as a suggestion...hmm...maybe this:

It uses a popular style (golden butterfly mask with the great argus pelt) but incorporates the underused secretary bird antlers.

I rather like the noh mask idea for him...
And ooh, the argus pelt/secretary bird antlers are a good idea! Otherwise, I think default looks very nice too.
By and by, I really like Hototo's design!

Well! Wowow. You guys all

Well! Wowow. You guys all have some -=really=- good ideas.

Quad: WOah! what an awesome tool! I have been using it to go through all the suggestions so far. A lot of help since I don't know all the official names of each design. thank you so much.

Unplugged: I think you are spot on with the antelope pelt, it was what I was hoping for, but couldnt get in forest... It has no spots, but it does have the stripes on legs and back. HOWEVER...

Quad, Spyrre, Ocean: You mentioned the argus pelt. Heres something neat... Argus pelt with no mask at all has spots on the eyes that very much resemble the spots around Hototo's. Plus the pelt itself is about the right color. SO is the golden pelt, but no spots on the eyes with that. I would have to find a mask.

About masks, I really like the crying idol or Noh mask. He also could wear the golden butterfly mask, but more for the sound it makes! Hototo's voice is a throat song. His name means "whistling ghost".

Oddly, I find more and more that even though I like and want all sorts of fancy dress for hototo, even the hard-to-get DOTD mask... Something as simple as an argus pelt might complete him entirely.

At least it would be easy to replace if lost.

As for antlers...

Moonsoverwater: Key antlers are really quite good. But if I do go with the argus pelt, I cant help but fall for the default blue! Hototo also has a fancy for poppies, and they look so pretty on those blue antlers.

Gosh... If its as simple as great argus...

Okay, Ill post two good choices in an update. If you would be so kind to oblige me one more time and tell me what is most appealing in your opinion.

One more question...

One more question... Sometimes people cast mask spells on me and it appears my mask vanishes, sometimes three or four times in a row! Is this a mask I cannot see? Or is it just a glitch? I have to sneeze the "invisible masks" off one by one. Is the bloodcrying mask one that I can see on the newest version, but cannot cast myself?

I am curious to find out either way... Perhaps if I find you, and you land the mask, you could nod at me. If I tilt my head in confuson, I cannot see the mask you are nodding about.

I think what you describe is

I think what you describe is just getting the 'no mask' mask cast on.

While you can't cast default pelts or antlers, it is possible to cast an invisible mask. I'm not sure whether this is purposefully implemented, a glitch, or an old mask that was removed from the game that now appears invisible.
