Are the patterns inspired by anything? I know she's got ties to the ocean (she's a siren, right?) and they make me think of corals and deep sea fishes.
@ali: thanks and they may or may not be, i mean maybe her markings can emit a glow at night....i haven't really given it much thought - i do know that she could shapeshift if it wasn't for the forest magic. she's limited by it, and therefor can only change her skin pigments (with chromatophores) that depend on her mental state. like she has certain colors for a state, and for a feeling. like angry would be a boisterous yellow or gold, and sad would be a deep dark blue or indigo. stressed would be an extremely dark maroon... (she'd never be able to hide her true feelings LOL) the one shown above is her...normal state? a mix of the bright and dark blues, a tinge of green. kind of like the color-changing 'mood' jewelry. also maybe some of her scales can be bioluminescent? who knows. rambling sorry sorry....
