It was cold. Winter was definitely here, and Zevi shivered, wishing his pelt wasn't so thin. With a last mouthful of chilled, but refreshing water from the pond, he retreated, off to find a patch of sunlight. It hadn't been so bad the other day, he had been active enough playing with his new friends that he didn't even notice. It probably wasn't even as bad as he made it out to be, but Zevi had never had the best tolerance of the colder weather.
Pausing mid-step, his ears perked, listening for other deer nearby.
In curiousity, Splice lingered in the cold, stalking a nearby deer. He was about her size, but a little smaller. She huffed at the chilly wind that stung her skin and numbed her nose. Winter was for sure not her favorite season. Silentley she was creeping, making her way quietley through the dense trees. Unheard, and unseen.
The distant sound of the crying idol, the leaves rustling in the breeze, hardly any birds. They were probably bundled up warm inside their homes. He didn't hear any other deer- or anything else. That was slightly disappointing, he wouldn't have minded the company. The wind picked up a little, and he was grateful for the mask shielding his face. "Oh well." He muttered to himself, barely audible, and continued on his way.
Splice approached the deer, her hooves now making a slight crunch in the snow. She no longer cared if he heard her or not. " Hello. " She called out to the male. Her voice was slightley muted to almost a hushed tone.
At the sound of the crunching snow, followed by the voice, Zevi started slightly, turning a little faster then he meant to, his right hind leg skidding slightly in the snow. Regaining his balance, he smiled nervously at the newcomer. "Oh sorry- I didn't hear you. Hello." How had she approached him so quietly? He looked at her curiously, taking in her appearance for the first time.
Splice snorted and approached slowely, being careful and cautious. Her ears were perked. " No...problem..and, greetings. " She replied, her voice echoeing slightley. Splice shuffled her feet through the snow as she walked closer to the male. " Chilly outside, yeah? " She murmered, batting her eyes in a flirtatious way.
Her voice was slightly unnerving, but Zevi was now used to the wide variety of deer- and others; who inhabited the forest. "Yes it is." He agreed, shivering slightly, completely oblivious to the eyelash batting. He looked at his hooves uncertainly, then back at her, trying to think of something to say.
Splice sensed that he was nervous because of her. She chuckled to herself. " Come with me, i know someplace that is warm. " She told him. With that, she turned tail and started towards the dense brush.
Splice sensed that she made him nervous. She chuckled to herself. " Come with me. " She replied. The sun was hidden by the clouds causing it to be quite shadowy. Splice turned tail and started into the dense brush.
.
Zevi tilted his head slightly, watching as she turned and began to walk away. He hesitated for just a moment, and then followed as she had asked. He noticed the sunlight dimming, and he glanced up between the branches of the forest canopy, and saw the cloudy skies. I hope it doesn't start to snow again. He looked back in front of himself, trying not to lose sight of the mysterious female.
Sunlight had seemed more appealing, but now with overcast skies, the oak tree was the perfect place to seek shelter. Gratefully he entered the giant tree, the air warmer because of the enclosed space.
