The Endless Forest is... well... an endless forest. It's endless. Really. If you think it does last, run around the whole map and you'll find out the truth.

But, if the Endless Forest was endless, then how do we get in and out of the forest? If there was a such thing as an endless forest, then the whole universe would be a forest. The whole universe is not a forest. So, how do you exactly get to The Endless Forest?

I always thought somewhere around the world, deep in a forest, there is a hidden portal, and very hard to find, and if you step into it, you will appear in a forest known as the Endless Forest. If you want to go back to the real world, then you would have to find the portal again and walk though it to go back into the real world. But the portal is very hard to find, so if you do walk though the portal, you will have a hard time trying to find it again, and you will probably never go back to the real world again.

At least, thats what I think.

I like to think about how deer get in and out the Forest, too. But I'm not sure that there would be just one way to get into it...

In some ways I think of the Forest as another dimension. You might be able to get in through a portal, like you suggested. You might end up as a deer-like being in the Forest when you die (and indeed, I think people have created quite a few characters that entered the Forest this way).

Maybe the Forest appears as a small, normal-sized forest from the outside...but as another dimension, is much, much bigger when you enter into it. The Forest is--after all--connected with the idea of the TARDIS (click on "The Ruin" if you follow the link to read more about it).

It's interesting to think about!

In my stories, there are

In my stories, there are certain places on the edges of the map where a deer could leave the Endless Forest (particularly the southeast corner near the Twin Gods statues). And outside is an entirely different forest, though I never specify what continent it is on. I say the Twin Gods allow any deer to come and go as they please, especially if they've been entrusted to do something outside of the Forest.

For example, Quad leaves the Forest to find out more about his past, as he originally was born as a regular fawn in the 'normal' forest.

My idea is that a portal to

My idea is that a portal to the outside world appears when and where a deer really needs it. It appears to them how they believe it will be seen. Most of my characters see it as a hole in midair.
When outside the forest, the same thing happens with the portals. They appear where and when the deer truly needs to get through or makes a true wish to be 'home' again.
