I don't understand how he sees without eyes. He calls it 'the sight' in an unnecessarily dramatic manner, but I have no time for such nonsense. Eden can think himself a God all he likes; I know better. I always know better. But he cannot possibly be blind, therefore...perhaps he does have some sort of sight. But none of this God-like 'the sight' business, no. Hmph.
He has summoned me to his forest domain; the pond, of course, where he can breathe water and not suffocate as I most certainly would. I dislike being near here; it is his territory, just as the rocks are mine, and I dislike intruding on it. Perhaps he is looking for a fight? I cannot be sure. The last few times he has fought me, I have always won, and he has paid the price for it. Foolish thing. He is weak and he knows this; I have made it very clear.
I stop in the shallows and stare.
"Don't you want to come in?" Eden asks me in that soft voice of his, such a pretty voice, but I know he is mocking me, stood in the deeper water with his head above the surface. "Are you wondering why I asked for you, Doctor? Are you curious?" He knows me far too well.
I don't answer him. I just stare.
For a long time he stares back, eventually pulling himself from the water, two-toned fur dripping wet. The deep scars where his eyes should be seem to stare right at me. "Don't look like that," he insists as if he cares, moving closer. Is it some kind of joke? How does he see my frown? Hmph.
I stand still as he pushes his one-antlered head against my chest, purring and nuzzling at me, as if we are friends. His fur is wet. I dislike it.
"You shouldn't do that," I tell him, stern. He ignores me, still cooing and purring like a newborn feline. Sickening.
"Lie down," he orders, and I lie there in the shallows, growling at him, unsure of why I obey. "Where is our Ampulse?"
"Avoiding you," I lie. "She told me she was waiting for me at the rocks, knowing you'd never venture over there."
"Ha! You frighten her, Doctor, don't you know?" His skinny form is draped over mine, dripping water onto me. "She's more likely to come to me."
"Whatever you say, Eden."
