Sunrays

.
Sunlight hit the ground in a way where it seemed to reflect back into the sky with a splash of yellow warmth.
The fawn walked through every one of the golden rays it passed.
It touched the fawn's baby down... Warmth.
Giving the child what a dead mother could not.
Little fawn, kept alive by sunlight.
What happens when the sun goes down?

...

"I do not know."

...

"Maybe darkness is just an illusion. Maybe sunlight is always there, but our eyes fade. They must sleep, too."

...

"Perhaps... Light is the only real thing..."

...

"But... The light..."

...

"It is real... The only real thing to me."

...

"Mother..."

Dreams and Memories

Some of you may remember that I wrote a story a long time ago detailing Cloud's past and how he came about remembering it. It's been nearly two years since I wrote that story and since then Cloud's character and past have evolved, as well as my own skills as a writer.
This story is the same one that I wrote nearly two years ago, it has just been rewritten. Some things are the same, some things are different ♥

Annelida (IRL experience)

I've always been sad for the worms I find dried up on our sidewalk in the mornings. Every morning brings a new batch of them, they die in their own unique shape.

It must be a horrible feeling not knowing where you are but your body becoming unbearably hot and dehydrated. Not being able to find safety back in the grass.

Brandy as a puppy did her best to honor these creatures. She would enjoy eating their dried bodies on our morning walks. I used to scold her for it, but now, I kind of see why she did it. It wasn't just an easy treat, but rather a tribute to them.

Much like my views on hunting, I always hope that those who kill an animal honor it and use as much of every part as they can. Brandy had the same idea - honor the dead and enjoy them in our own way.

This morning I wore flip-flops out to an area on my university campus that we call the 'well field'. We have five small water wells in a grassy area on the edge of the campus. My teacher wasn't there this morning but the assistant took over and showed us a few things about wells, part of it I already knew about.

As I stood there, I felt something cold between my feet. Looking down at my left foot, a worm had wiggled between my two smallest toes. I raised my foot and it moved back to the grass. I watched it crawl away, and I wondered if it was happy or enjoying the weather. I hoped it would never find a concrete sidewalk.

There are little things in life that seem so very pleasant. Most people would have been disgusted by a worm finding its way to their toes. To me, it was a small sign of life after seeing so much death this year. I hope this tribute honors the worms who die on sidewalks every morning, and I hope they have a good afterlife.

Anirapio - a short history...

Just some info I wanted to write down about my dragon, Anirapio, before her summoning to the Endless Forest by Iugulare. Enjoy!

In a nearby solar system lies a terran planet called Ibuzon. Much like Earth, Ibuzon began with the spark of life, and soon countless species thrived on the planet, each adapting to new changes and challenges with their environment.

One species grew superior to the others - the Daog. These creatures were dragons - scaly green and white skin, great wings used for both flight and hunting, mantis-like forelimbs used to grip their prey. Their bodies changed and grew accordingly, sometimes they lacked limbs, other times they had legs and feet but no forelimbs, and sometimes the other way around. But unlike any other species, they never developed mouths on their faces, but instead had a slit on their chest and a tube that ran the length of their belly to the tip of their tail. These creatures devoured their food whole, absorbing liquids and nutrients from it as it traveled down their stomach. They eventually would expel the unused remainder through the tip of their tail. The Daog were superior in intelligence than most of the other species, and were able to communicate to one another through telepathy as they had no mouth to speak with.

The Daog began their species as scavengers, feeding on plants, berries, fruit...occasionally insects. But they found that they were becoming malnourished from these meals, they could not sustain their high metabolism and many of them died from it. So the Daog tried a different approach - they hunted small creatures, stuffing them into their chest slots and absorbing their blood and energy.
