I think the one with poppies is the fake, just because of the way it acted. It was really confusing for a second there, though. When they're that close, especially with all the other deer in the same area, the map isn't all that useful for telling who's who. It's hard to pick out individual pictos when they're all clustered together.
I know it wasn't actually two Virgil's. I don't believe I've seen this particular glitch before, though.
