"Grandpapa! Look Grandpapa!", Lani called from beside the old casement window, "There's a funny looking deer out there!" Her Grandfather looked up from the newspaper advertisments for big-game rifles and came to look out the window. He blinked twice to focus on the creature and sure enough, there really was a deer one out there...older and with antlers that gave off a golden aura but the same as the creatures that had appeared almost 40 years earlier.
Quad felt his eyes grow a little heavy. He didn't walk to his pillar at the Ruins, or the Crying Idol, but instead he found a soft patch of violet flowers. The stag slowly settled down among the flowers, looking around for a moment before slowly resting his head.
He listened to the Forest, the familiar sounds of crickets chirping, birds fluttering overhead, and the sound of water in the distance. He loved the Forest so much, and looking toward the sky, he watched the clouds drift past the canopy above. He smiled, "Such a beautiful day...", he said to himself.
The stag's eyes finally closed, and he could feel softness and warmth all around him. His body relaxed and settled, and he thought about all of his friends and his family...and where he would be without them. Quad's body slowly shut down. He didn't know, he felt no pain as he dreamed.
"Such a beautiful day...", he said again, and his heart beat for the last time.

The little Deer below are shivering in fright.
One of my favorite songs and it also inspired this image. The Original Song is called "We're Walking in the Air" and was created for the animated-cartoon 'The Snowman'. I just tweaked it abit to fit the image. I am no poet but I'm pleased with the effort.
