Tablet help? :(

arrowdoe's picture
My tablet is being a douchenozzle pain in the butt and I have no idea how to fix it.

Whenever I plug the cord into the USB port on my computer, my tablet either doesn't connect at all, or the pen behaves like a mouse. Usually my tablet pen is pressure sensitive and the cursor on the screen follows the exact location of the pen on the surface of the tablet exactly. Now-days I have to drag the cursor across the screen like I would have to do using a mouse. This makes drawing almost impossible, as the pressure is off and I can't find the exact placement of the pen-to-cursor.

Does anyone know what this thing has been smoking and how I can rehabilitate it? x.x

Thank you~

Check that all your drivers

Check that all your drivers for the tablet are installed and updated, the company that made your tablet should have a list of required drivers in their site. If a new one has come out, download it and see if that solves the problem.

Alternatively, try uninstalling the tablet (and all drivers) then reinstalling the software that came with it.

I would also check the site for the company that made your tablet for a Frequently Asked Questions or Support section, they might have steps listed to help with the problem.

It's a Wacom Intuos3 9x12"

It's a Wacom Intuos3 9x12" tablet. I'm using Windows Vista as an OS.

I've tried that before, Tera, and I've been staying on top of the downloadable updates as best I can. I suppose another un/reinstall could be helpful. Thankyou Smiling

Is it fixed?

Is it fixed? <8O

How old is the tablet? I've had mine for about three years, now, and from some careless use, I've messed up the cord that goes with it. The touch feature no longer works. I dunno if that's the same problem: general use and age of the parts and such...

Hope you get it figured out. Tablets are expensive. >.<

Did you try different USB

Did you try different USB ports?

I dumped my first tablett because i thought it was broken...
.. in the end i fond out it was the USB port that was damaged.

I had (or actually have, but

I had (or actually have, but on another computer) exactly the same problem with my intuos4... reinstalling the software didn't work. I also tried different ports, but with no success.
I think I may know what the problem is, though. It might be the computer itself. The thing is I can't check it right now (and was too busy to do it earlier...) as I'm working on a different computer with which my tablet cooperates perfectly. I'll check it tomorrow in the evening.
But if somebody knows the solution to this issue, please share!

INTUOS 3. MY BROTHER. You

INTUOS 3. MY BROTHER.

You need to plug a mouse in and download the 6.15-3 driver from here. (: (Just select Intuos 3 from the drop-down)

For some reason Wacom's Intuos 3 series isn't entirely compatible with Vista or Win 7, mainly because it's oooold. 6.15 driver is the only driver that works (confirmed by Wacom themselves). Once you've installed it, open up wacom utility and make sure screen mapping is activated.

Oh, and make sure to save the driver download in a document somewhere safe in case you need to re-install. If you have teething problems like I did with my Intuos (Win 7 though), on the first few boots it sometimes "forgot" the driver was there. Just re-install again if it happens (:

Should I uninstall the driver I have right now, or can I download 6.15-3 and still keep the manufacturer's copy in my computer?

[e] Alice- I've tried all my USB ports. I just now reinstalled the driver disc, and it works fine- but last time I did this it worked great until the next day, and was horrible since.

You need to uninstall the one

You need to uninstall the one you have, and freshly install 6.15-3. So you'll need a mouse (;

By manufacturers copy, do you mean you installed from the cd that came with it? Because the cd is obsolete since XP I'm afraid.

Yeah, the CD that arrived

Yeah, the CD that arrived with the tablet.

I'll bookmark your link then and download the new driver as soon as I can.
Thank you so much for your help, guys. I really, really appreciate this.
