when i want to go to the pond or w/e, i end up running towards it
but never getting there
then i turn around and BOOM THERE IT IS

The easiest way to navigate (at least when it comes to finding landmarks) is to use that black strip you see around your screen when you play. All the major landmarks have symbols and they rotate like a compass when you move the camera angle and when you move your deer.
It takes a little while to get used to it!
