I feel that this information is up for speculation.
How do we know "she" is is female? All of that luxurious fur makes it hard to discern any tell-tale parts that would put either theory at ease.
And because of the speculative nature, I'd much rather refer to "her" as the androgynous "he" that both Western cultures, such as the one that I live in, use.
Okay I'm just procrastinating here. I'll change that right away xD

Out a little bit towards the birches where the Forest was redder and less trampled flat by eager hooves was the orange buck. Only recently had his antlers began to itch with the velvet that had begun to dry and he was remedying this by rubbing them eagerly against a young birch that accommodated the width of his antlers easily and provided room to spare. Thin strips of it tore from his antlers and left them bloodied, but it felt so divine!
The itching subsided a little and his muscles were screaming at him for a break. Naturally, he took the time to stop and let out a long sigh. A shiver rippled through him. What was he going to do about Glisseo? Willis told him to try dropping hints, but he also said he wasn't sure if that would work at all.. Why did these things have to be so confusing? Enthbril launched an angry kick at the birch he'd rubbed on, sighed again, and began moving in a random direction. His head was low to the ground until he caught a very familiar scent: it was her. Yet another sigh came out of the young buck to release some of his nervous energy before he trotted in the direction of her smell while the faint sound of her voice teased against his ear.
Glisseo trotted around the
It took his body a good while
Dang it.
His nose twitched involuntarily and he realized that she smelled less metallic. A quick pass with his eyes told him that she was almost entirely healed from her numerous injuries. This pleased him, no doubt, but he had not the foggiest idea how he was supposed to work that into what they were talking about without it being obvious that he was trying to not discuss himself. So, he smiled at her instead.
She smiled at his delay in
Enth couldn't keep himself
When he looked back up at her, his eyes were heavy and sparkling with the unspoken emotions that filled every empty part of his body. All he could do then was shake his head at her and look away. Let's not talk about that.. my head hurts. His voice was suddenly husky.
Glisseo was a little
He mused to himself grimly
Let's just forget about it and have a good time, alright?
Glisseo was reaching to
His heart broke when he saw
Glisseo looked back to see
Her sudden movement was
Really? He snorted and pawed at the ground. Bet you I can! And with that he was tearing up the grass beneath his hooves as he tore off after her. Running helped him forget his troubles a little bit. He put on an extra burst of speed and slid to a halt in front of the rock she stood on. His tail wiggled as his chest sunk a little towards the ground.
She waited for him to react
Nothing but silence came from
As quietly as he could, he snuck up onto her left flank and then goosed her with the blunt oval of his knee. GOTCHA!
Glisseo hadn't heart him
Instant laughter tore from
Glisseo couldn't help but
You can't say that! Color
Then, a thought came to him. If I got to decide what the prize was, I'd want it to be.. something like we could do something like hang out. Later tonight, or.. whatever, it's not I made up the rules. The last part was spat out in a flourish. He'd begun trundling his way down the thin leaning rock so that he could lay down beneath its shade. His ears were flattened against his head but his posture was typical and his tail twitched a little as if he felt somewhat pleased with himself.
Glisseo laughed under his
It was definitely cooler
She said yes! Oh, I thought it was kind of dumb, but if you actually want to.. then it's a deal. Enth cloaked his enthusiasm with mock haughtiness and a smirk. I can't believe she wants to!
It's, uh, nice and cool down here. He stated when he'd adjusted himself so that his knees were neatly folded beneath his furred breast. Too bad there's no blueberries. This spot would be the best if there were blueberries to eat instead of this boring grass. Why does the grass in this area taste so bad? He was aware that he was being a chatterbox, but really there was no reason for it to bother him when he was feeling this joyful.
She laughed a little and
Grey and orange fur quietly
He was so caught up in his dreamy thoughts that he almost missed what she said next. No, I don--hmmf..maybe I do, but food is important. A verbal stumble. Well, I mean.. important to everything. Crows, koi, even plants need to eat food. Plus, if you eat one thing and then try another, sometimes it tastes REALLY good. Like, the tubers in the pond, for example. A mouthful of those with some mushrooms..! Right then his stomach growled, so he didn't need to explain it to her. He laughed.
Glisseo snorted and looked
That wonderful look that came
A small murder of crows flew by and ravaged his dreamy thoughts with their throaty calls. His round ears swiveled forward and he tracked them with his gaze until they were blocked by the sheltering rocks around him. So! He exhaled with a kind of finality, watching for the crows. Do you need time to get ready for our.. thing? I don't know how it works, but, uh, I really need to. And! And, I have to plan so it won't be boring! His attention was back on her now.
Glisseo gave a little laugh
The music of her laughter
Okay, great.. he breathed a little dreamily at her while he pulled himself onto his legs. We can meet at the Oak later--no. How about we meet behind the Oak? If she sat inside the great hollow tree, he was sure she'd be able to spy on him at the Pond while he bathed. It wasn't as if he didn't want her to see. Rather, he was afraid he'd be hyper-aware of her gaze on him and that would cause him to do something stupid, like fall into the deep end as he'd done on the day they met.
"Alright! I'll see you there
With a sense of excitement
The next hour passed in a blur: he'd gotten somewhat too eager about his bath in the Pond and nearly drowned himself not just once, but two times, and he felt ready to die from exhaustion by the time he finally managed to get himself out of the depths and flung his sopping body into a strong beam of sunlight. That alone provided him with enough energy to both lick himself dry and to get rid of any fur he'd needed to shed.
After that, he rolled and thrashed around in the grass to further clean his fur. Enthbril came over to the Pond's surface and looked at his reflection. He saw the familiar orange and brown stag with much cleaner fur--and blades of grass that stuck out everywhere from him! A quick shake removed most of them, and then he was nearly finished: he'd forgotten to remove some of his velvet, which needed to be done beforehand since it could get messy. Looking back into the Pond, he decided to skip that since his antlers looked relatively fine anyways. An idea slipped into his mind and he trotted over into the Birches..
--
The sun was setting by the time he was ready.
Enthbril inhaled, then exhaled deeply to calm himself as he walked as slowly as he could to the Oak. That didn't work. What if she doesn't like the stuff at the pond? What if this is just like how we normally hang out? What if she doesn't like ANYTHING? His heart began beating somewhere in his throat, making him feel nauseous. Best to pick up the pace so she wouldn't have to wait too long.
After some time he finally arrived at the front of the Oak. He cleared his throat, shuck his fur, straightened his back, and slipped towards the back. Gl..Glisseo?
Glisseo had wandered around
She was almost there when a weird, pressuring sensation enveloped her skull. Making her feel like she was being squeezed through a hole. She blinked against the pain, her eyes watering. Then, her stomach started turning flips and she felt bile rise in her throat. She vomited, still making her way toward the tree. Though her legs were wobbly and she was stumbling just about every step. Her hooves dragged the grass, tearing up clumps. What was happening? More bile rose and she collapsed just at the side of the tree. She heard Enthbril call her name and looked up, squinting to see his blurry figure only a dozen feet away.
"Enthbril!" Her voice was shrill, and the wind was probably the only reason it reached the stag. A few seconds lapsed and her body went limp, her eyes lifeless. Soon, her "soul" dimmed and disappeared in a puff of purple smoke. Followed by her whole body disappearing a few seconds later, in the same acrid mist.
When she woke up, the white walls of a hospital surrounded her. She jerked forward, grabbing on to the rails of her bed, an IV pulling against her skin. Machines beeped above and around her. Her head spun. NO!
An acrid stench he'd never
She wasn't behind the Oak. Fear quickly gripped at the young buck's heart, and then he heard his name. Glisseo?
Her name echoed dully from the Oak. A shiver ran up him. The smell became stronger, making him feel dizzy and even more scared, but he needed to know what it was. Very slowly he approached the front of the Oak and saw the pile of--whatever the heck that was--laying on the ground just ahead of many strange dents in the ground where clumps and lines of grass had been torn up. Now that--that didn't look good. And was that a dark whisp of smoke he'd seen just a few seconds ago? Why would she leave like that..? Enthbril couldn't help himself from speaking out loud; part of his brain that he wasn't aware of had hoped that physically speaking would clear up something for him, but there was nothing.
There were no predators in the Forest--that was a lie, but he hadn't heard of a random attack before.. so where could she have gone?
GLISSEO!
He ran to the Ruins.
GLISSEO!
The Birches.
The Playground. He ran everywhere, scouring the earth and desperately questioning every intelligent creature he saw.
He went through the Forest two more times before his front right leg gave out on him while he was shuffling through a large bed of poppies. Red petals scattered and landed on the hopeless orange figure. Although his throat felt ruined, he managed to rasp out her name one last time before he let the heartache consume his entire being.

I do have another active deer, but he doesn't know how to communicate so whenever I rp him with others I feel like it's a burden for them to understand him.
((Whee~! Blissy
Glisseo trotted through the forest. Enthbril's scent seemed to be everywhere. Like he'd constantly been moving through the trees since she'd disappeared. She searched behind every rock in the birch, in the Oak, stood atop the playground for a better vantage point. So far, nothing had turned up. She was going in circles because of his scent. It would be strong against a tree and then fade as she followed it. Strong against a boulder and then fade. She sighed in frustration and smashed some berries beneath her hoof, grinding them into the dirt. She continued on her way, calling his name every once in awhile, a question mark hanging in the air. Where was he? Hiding from her? Was he upset that she had disappeared? Did he think that she'd stood him up? She was starting to see red with her frustration. She finally made it back to the willow's on the high side of the pond and looked out over the water, searching for clues or ideas....
Gurl, I'll WAIT then.
I've been loving this plot work so much btw

Surely it had been an eternity since he'd last seen her. He'd spent twice that amount of time dragging his barely functioning body past the same landmarks to look for any clues or hear of any word: at first he'd been sure there would be evidence around the Oak, but there was nothing. Nothing but what looked like the indentation of a deer's body in the soft earth and grass and a spattering of a foul substance.
It had been a lifetime since Enthbril had allowed himself to rest--at the most just a few hours every day. Despite the uncertainty that brewed thickly within the young stag's heart ever since the panic attack had temporarily robbed him control of himself, a greater heat forced his tortured body onwards as if he was little more than a machine fulfilling the duty it was built for, but even machines need their rest. He'd neglected to set aside adequate time for himself to eat and sleep. It had been remarkable that he was able to function for that long without any kind of sustenance or substantial break from his fruitless searching, but exhaustion won the battle as he was making his way to the Blue Bowl. The timing could have been a lot better: the last thing he remembered was a light feeling of surprise when he saw a rock that seemed to be leaping towards his head.
There was a good sized lump on his head where he'd made contact with the rock along with a fine crust of dried blood and a crack at the base of his right antler. His fur was unkempt and falling out in some places. Cuts lay scattered across his sides and legs--badges he won every time he stumbled or fell. He slid a short ways down the incline after hitting his head and lay there in a way that made it obvious he wasn't just taking a nap with his neck arched towards the lip of the Bowl and legs thrown in odd directions like twigs in a storm.
A few savvy birds took this opportunity to raid loose tufts of hair while he was still unresponsive to the feeling of little feet all over his neck and their incessant pulling.
Glisseo stood by the willows,
His head rolled promisingly
It felt so delicious to just lay there, warm and temporarily unable to worry about anything at all. But that noise made it hard for him to enjoy it..
A sharp exhale air quivered through his nostrils. Enthbril didn't like the feelings that overwhelmed him as he tried to gather up the will to pull himself from his semi-conscious stupor: he was hungry, thirsty, tired beyond all comprehension, sore all over, and his stomach churned threateningly. He exhaled a whispered complaint and was still.
Glisseo grumbled under her
The world jumped
Now his ear! Some creature was definitely going out of its way to bother him, but he sure wasn't going to let in and let it have its way. Enthbril grunted weakly just before the scent of blueberries slapped him about the face, reached down into his stomach, and shook its fist around with enough force that he couldn't stop himself from getting sick all over the leaf and its offered contents. Now he was finally awake and pitifully trying to shift his head away from the disgusting thing he'd done, but his antlers got in the way so he had to lift his head up and a away as far as he could. Purple eyes half-slitted in the light focused on one dark hoof in front of his vision. Black hoof with a white sock.
There was a white hoof with a dark sock.
Enthbril stared blearily up at Glisseo, lips parting slightly in his shock.
Glisseo groaned when Enthbril
How was she here again? What
He could do little but allow her to pull on his neck, the discomfort it caused him unimportant while his brain was scrabbling for information. But then it hurt him a little bit too much.
Stop.. The words scratched his already ruined throat and made him gag. Please.. stop.. A little louder and made thick with the tears that distorted his vision. Enthbril leaned against her pushing as his head collapsed back to the ground and he began sobbing in his confusion and relief.
Glisseo was here. She was finally here. Nothing had eaten or attacked her. Nothing he'd done had brought her here, but there she was.
Everything already hurt from his ordeal and it hurt more to cry but there was no stopping it. Her name came out of his mouth and was broken up into unrecognizable noises in-between his sobbing.
Glisseo stopped pushing when
A sense of horror exploded
You have.. no.. no right to say that to me.. Enthbril's eyes shone with animal fury. You just--just WENT away. Had no idea where you were. Look-looked everywhere for you. The anger fueled him so that his voice was almost normal now, though it hissed at her through his clenched teeth.
Do you.. have any idea how.. Mental stumbling. ..how worried I was..? Only.. only stopped.. looking today when I fell. Chest rose and collapsed upon itself to keep his rage burning steady. Don't tell me to "suck it up.." Have no idea.. how worried I was..
He'd expected some sort of great reunion when she'd returned. They were going to run at each other and nuzzle, then go running around together and kicking their hooves out behind them in their unbridled joy. Maybe then he would have told her-- Enthbril pushed away from the doe and stood on his own for half a second before his knees gave out and he slumped further up the small hill, his stomach now heavy with confusion.
