Set ideas for a new deer...

Hello everyone!

Well, after much thought about 'hoarding pictos' and all, I decided to make one more deer, but unlike Quad, Zephyr, Blixt, and the others, this will be my first ever 'evil' deer to be in the Forest.

Nekumbra, my spider deer, will officially be played in-forest. However, I need help with her set for when she becomes an adult deer.

Although her official look is like this:

I think we've decided on the following look:

I'd rather her NOT have a "real deer mask, real deer pelt, doe antler" set, despite that looking so much like her in the pictures above. I could really use some ideas for making her look similar to the artworks of her but using different pelts/antlers/masks that aren't so commonly used. Using either the real deer mask or one of the real deer pelts with not so used items would be fine.

Here's her pictogram while as a fawn:

I tried my best to get an hourglass look, since she's a spiderdeer and all.

Anyway, any ideas are greatly appreciated! I'm gonna do some set research when I get back from work today.

One other thing, I need to decide on somewhere for her to 'haunt'. What part of the Forest do you think a spiderdeer would prefer? Or better yet, where do you think would be a good place for her to hide? If you need some ideas, check out her shortstory.

Secretary Bird pelt? Those

Secretary Bird pelt? Those black wing markings are as near to spider legs as I think In-Game pelts come. As for the other parts, I've no idea.

So far the only idea I really

So far the only idea I really have is real deer mask, fan antlers, and no pelt ("naked"), but I don't know if not having a pelt will become tough since people might think that she needs one.

The Magpie pelt might not be too bad either.

Fan antlers works for sure,

Fan antlers works for sure, and I like the 'naked' pelt. I say play her (once she grows of course) as that set and see if it fits. If not, experiment some more!

I'm trying to think of

I'm trying to think of something else you almost never see worn that she could have, like the butterfly or egyptian antlers. It's tough to come up with stuff when it would be so easy to make her look like so many other characters.

I like the idea of the magpie

I like the idea of the magpie pelt, since those stripes could be interpreted as the legs as well. Perhaps she could wear the long mask antlers? (the ones that look like scythes)

As for other pelts...the only things I can think of are, like Tera said, the secretary bird pelt, or the fan pelt (brown with gold stripes.)

And for haunting...how adept are you at air-sitting? I think it would be kind of interesting to see her lurking in trees, like a spider waiting for prey to fall into her trap!

Mhmm the Long Mask ones are

Mhmm the Long Mask ones are the ones I called the "egyptian" antlers, I was thinking about those. I think I'll try both naked and Magpie and see what I think.

I sadly have not gotten the hang of air-sitting yet, but that would be a great idea. Maybe I'll get some practice in and try it sometime.

It just amuses me to imagine

It just amuses me to imagine someone swinging their camera around and then: DUNDUNDUN! SpiderDeer!

My first thought was Argus

My first thought was Argus pelt, possibly skull mask. I feel like the eyespots on the Argus pelt could denote where the legs would be.

And I feel like a spider-deer would really like the shady area under the rocks in the playground.

Argus might work, actually

Argus might work, actually considering that since she still would look kind of brown and white.

I really want to keep her away from the skull mask only because I see so many deer wearing it right now. Thanks for the suggestion, though. I know the real deer mask isn't much better but I figured I would make up for that by wearing something not so popular for either the pelt or antlers.

Actually... argus pelt, real deer mask, and long mask antlers might look good on her. I'll have to try that.

Ooo, I like that set idea! It

Ooo, I like that set idea! It sounds very feminine, and yet, not quite...right you know?

I agree, feminine... but some

I agree, feminine... but some thing's not right about her.
I was going to suggest the great argus pelt, but you're about ten steps ahead of me. 8>

Great! A

Great! A feminine-but-kind-of-off set from a masculine-but-insane guy. I like it!

Maybe before Nekumbra grows up I'll get Quad or someone to get the set together and try it out. I'm really curious now as to what it'll look like.

Very special thanks to this

Very special thanks to this deer for helping Quad get the set:

So what do you guys think? I think this will look really good on Nekumbra, it doesn't stray too far from her original design + it lets the underused longmask antlers get some love.

Yeah...I didn't like that after I got this set, a group of deer ran up and gave me their disapproval of the look in-game. Honestly, not everyone has to wear the 'popular' sets, that's why I try to wear stuff you never see worn - Trunks wears the Forest Spirit mask; Caw wears the Antelope mask and the Magpie antlers; Blixt wears the green luchador mask; Pent wears the beluga antlers with the antelope pelt. I've noticed that the beluga pelt has become more 'trendy' with the real deer mask, so I notice a lot more deer looking like Quad but with different antlers, but I'm not going to complain about it since everyone's free to wear whatever they want. I just think that this whole 'well you shouldn't wear that' thing needs to be dropped with this community, and I'm starting that now by wearing things you rarely see anyone wear.

And if you don't like it, tough, cause trends are stupid.

...Seriously now?

The deer who helped you with the antlers was me, btw. Smiling
