Silas to develop him some more. I used to role play a lot, but it's been a while since then, so I'm sorry if my writing is a little rusty! Anyone care to join?
(I'd just like to ask that you please use proper punctuation and grammar, i.e- 'you' instead of 'u.')
Mariposa entered the water
Mariposa entered the water until half her legs were submerged. Her hair floated upon the lake's surface. She reached down and began to pick out some twigs in her hair, letting her hair soak in the cool water. Mariposa shook her legs in the water, freeing the crust and grime from her scars.
Dragonflies darted to and fro, she blew air at them as they passed her.

Mariposa rubbed her legs with the side of her forehead to rub away the mud. When she raised her head and tossed her hair to the other side to wash, her black hair smacked Silas square on the face.
Immediately realizing what she had done, her eyes widened in disbelief and all she could do was laugh. She shook with laughter, so much so that she fell on her side, splashing more water onto both of them.
Silas toppled backward,
"I... Um... I'll be right back..." he stammered, hopping out of the water and disappearing behind a cluster of cat tails. He began to fidget with his mask, working the string back around his neck.

Mariposa's laughed subsided quickly, and her eyes widened as she noticed his face was exposed.
" I can help," she offered, moving cautiously towards him, hair dripping lightly with fresh water.
Mariposa gently adjusted the mask string so it would sit properly on his face, and yanked some of it down so it was secure. Then she took a step back and nodded with a smile, satisfied with her adjustments. "I don't think you even need that mask. You look handsome as a prince- with or without it."
She turned, as if his bashful moment never happened, and dipped her face in the water to let the beads of water roll over her pelt like the down-feathers of a duck.
He calmed down, his cheeks

"[=orange]Wait here,[]" Mariposa chirped. She quickly exited the lake and walked through the willow trees, its hanging branches rolling over her back as she passed through them. The monarch doe approached a patch of clovers and tiny yellow flowers. She plucked clusters of the flowers and clovers, and returned to Silas with the clusters in her mouth. Mariposa placed the greenery in front of them on the bank of the lake.
"I don't know if you eat these... But if you want you can try them."
Mariposa snatched some clovers and began to eat them leaf by leaf.
Silas lifted the mask above
"I do." he said between bites. "Do you come here a lot?"

Mariposa gave a nod. "I've never met her, I just see the gifts she brings into the forest."
Mariposa suddenly leapt to her hooves and struck a silly, jokingly proud pose- as if she were a stag puffing out her chest heroically. "I pray to the Gods I can one day be like her!" she proclaimed with a grin to Silas. "Have so much talent to offer the world- so much that I wouldn't know what to do with it!"
Then her smile began to falter.
"But... How lonely I would be, if all my efforts and blessings upon the forest... go unnoticed?"
The green in her eyes almost seemed to dim as her gaze turned to look at the petite yellow flowers she had picked. She thought of the Guardian who rejuvenated the forest day after day, the one so few have seen. "All of that," she began wistfully, "all of it, and with no one to recognize-- no one to share it with?"
"well," Silas lifted himself
He flipped the mask up from his mouth for a moment, grabbing one of the lilies that remained, and tucked it next to her ear. "And in the end, this forest guardian's work doesn't go unappreciated. Other deer like us also appreciate the beauty of the flowers, though we don't know to thank anyone. She may prefer the lack of attention, and find more in their blind appreciation over exalting her..."
Silas stopped himself, flipping his mask down again. "I'm sorry, I tend to ramble..."

Mariposa smiled and shook her head. "Don't be," she reassured. "I wouldn't have thought of it like you did."
"Still though," she continued. "It must get lonely sometimes..."
Mariposa bounded away over to a tree stump and stood upon it. "I used to love being alone... For a lot of reasons. But now I can't stand it. I forget everything bad... And now, I don't ever want to be alone again."
"Maybe more in common than I

"I think," the doe began, still focusing hard on the chips flying of the wood stump. You could tell she was really trying to pick her words carefully. "I think being alone leaves a lot of time to talk to yourself.. except that's only good when you're listening to what you want to hear. Good things. Or when the full moon is out and the crickets come out and start chirping. It's nice at first, when you want to be there and listen. Other times it's annoying, like when you're trying to fall asleep but there's a little cricket in your head that won't stop..."
Mariposa gave a sad shrug. "I don't know..."
Mariposa pouted at the ground, frustrated that she could never get her words right. Speech wasn't her forte, and she became moody when she couldn't find a way to get her ideas across although she tried hard.
"I had a lot of that time,

Mariposa nodded her head eagerly. "Exactly!" she exclaimed, suddenly glad he was able to understand her ramble. "I have too many crickets," she chuckled.
She looked serene and calm, her heart slowed to a steady beat. She looked at the streaks of sunlight that shone through the thick blanket of clouds, glowing brighter now. "If it makes you feel any better, Silas, I think our crickets could make some great songs. Music could be our own gift."
"If we can get our chorus to

Mariposa's ears flicked upwards. "Before nightfall?! But the moon is the best part!"
The doe leapt off and landed right next to Silas. "We absolutely positively have to stay up tonight and watch it. That's when the moon is bright and shiny-- oh, we can watch it right here next to the lake-- the moon's reflection is so large, I can drown happily in the water if that means being in the moonlight!"
Mariposa was becoming so excited, she was nearly bobbing up and down with each word. She looked up at Silas with her pleading emerald eyes. "Can we? Please, pretty please?"

"Woohoo!--ouch.."
Mariposa clamored, bouncing high in the air-- but landing clumsily on her weak back leg. But that didn't stop her glee.
"It'll be so great-- we can eat more flowers and blossoms and even watch the sunset too. Moon time is the best time. But when you put the two together, you get the most wonderful love story of all. Better than any fairytale. They tell the best romance-- without any words or sounds. Just their light.."
Mariposa hung back her head and closed her eyes as if in a state of pure bliss. "When you really watch them, you'll understand. It's my favorite."
Silas watched her bound up
"I look forward to seeing it!"

Mariposa grinned and bounded all around him. "We can watch it on the bridge- a full performance," she clamored.
"And now, we wait."
The doe lied down in front of the lake, perfectly still, as if she was content with waiting the next few hours for sundown.

They both sat there in peaceful silence, though Mariposa grew restless as she easily does. She adjusted her legs tucked beneath her and looked around. Suddenly breaking the silence, she asked, "Ever seen a human before? Sometimes I see them around.. even ones with antlers. But I can never quite tell, they come and go like illusions.. I have very colorful memories-- as if I was one."
"Human...? I can't say I

Mariposa inhaled deeply. She could smell the scent of poppies on the wind which calmed her. She, too, tried to live in the present to the best of her abilities... But some days she's filled with so much anxiety or worry, be it about the past or future, that it can be a struggled to survive just an hour without feeling overwhelmed.
Mariposa gave a heavy sigh.
"I know... I was one once," Mariposa spoke slowly, tentatively. "A human, I mean. I don't remember many details, but I do know I had such long black hair- longer than it is now. It could probably stretch through the entire forest. I lived somewhere high, high up. As if on a cloud. I saw everything.. And I could get the best view of the sunset. Of the moon."

Mariposa's ears slid back
Mariposa's ears slid back timidly at his shock. Her cheeks flushed under her dark fur, and she let out a nervous chuckle to shoo away her anxiety. "Euh, well it was so long ago-- at least it feels that way..."
"Well..."Mariposa pursed her lips in thought. She hated thinking about the past, and her previous life. It just held too much sorrow and unsolved questions. Yet, there was something about talking openly to Silas about it that made her feel much more at ease with her past; at ease with herself.
"There was music, speaking in different tongues, rhythms and rhymes... The scenery doesn't change. I was always alone-- except an old woman, and a young man.."
Mariposa's heart felt heavy. She remembered him-- the one who would run away with her. Away from the old woman. They were ripped from each other, separated from the moment they were jettisoned into different worlds. Her chest ached with sorrow and her mouth curved down. She remembered, now, how distraught she was in the forest-- looking for him endlessly. She never found him, or even knew what had happened to him. Just forced to move on.
"There are pages missing," Mariposa said finally. "The only fairytale I know that has a good ending- is that of the sun and moon."

no, no it's no problem! same
Mariposa thought about his words for a minute or two, then gave a single nod in agreement.
"If you loved someone," Mariposa spoke softly, almost a whisper like her voice could be broken by the softest breeze. "If you loved someone, but then they became lost to you.. They disappeared. How far would you go to find them? And how long would you let yourself carry on?"
Mariposa gulped and her throat tightened. It felt like she could stop talking or asking questions, yet she knew it hurt to say them. Digging up old memories, old feelings; ones that she thought she had buried long ago, and could never tell how she truly felt about it all.
Her throat was so tight, she had to release some of the tension with a cough or two.
Silas froze. It reoccurred to
"Love is no easy thing, it's different for everyone..." The words just came out of his mouth with no warning. He processed his statement as he said it, as if he wasn't the one who came up with the thought in the first place. "There are many paths to take in life, and you can only hope someone can accompany you on one of them. And then when you lose them, you find yourself somewhere you can't face alone. And then you're lost..."
He shook his head. How would he know any of that? Was it some innate knowledge everyone had?
"But I've never been down a path like that. I couldn't say what I'd do."

As they lay in silence for a while, the air began to grow colder, the sun just beginning to rest its head for the day.
Mariposa turned her head and watched as its light rained through the long tree branches. Her wavy dark hair scattered around her face. She thought of her memories of the love she once had. Though she doesn't remember his face much, or even all of the things they did together in their clandestine place, but she simply remembers how she felt. The strong feelings of tender care, admiration, and a fiery passion to protect them and do anything in the world to be with them and be eternally happy.
Mariposa tried to push the memories away and suppress the feelings; but at the same time she was curious and wanted to delve further into her past to understand and even take away what her story had taught her- if anything at all. But that feeling - the feeling of what she came to understood as love - was addictive to her. It was all so confusing to the doe.
Then Silas spoke, breaking her stream of thought. She listened, somewhat relieved that there was another perplexed by love just as much as she was.
"I see," Mariposa spoke at last, her voice a hum caught in the wind. She stared at the ground in front of her. "Love is, a drug. A magic spell, cast on the lover's gaze."
Then she looked up at Silas, eyes filled with almost a sad kind of sympathy. "But once you've felt it. Tasted its poison.. I can swear, you'll never want to be without it."
"I'm not sure what I want,

Mariposa gave a single nod.
The doe tucked her legs tighter beneath her as the cold breeze brushed against her fine fur.
Mariposa began to shiver. To any other deer, this wind would be a nice coolness to the earlier hot weather. But given Mariposa doesn't have much meat on her bones nor any thick fur, she was freezing.
She nudged herself closer to Silas to gather some of the warmth in his fluffy fur as she looked up to the sky eagerly. The sun's colors began to bleed over the sky, mixing with the pinks and purples of the incoming night.
"Speaking of love," the doe said, no longer solemn like before. "Now is one of the most beautiful love stories-- of the sun and moon."
"Beautiful indeed.."Silas

Mariposa sighed sweetly,
The moon was chasing the sun now. Slowly, the sky was becoming dominated by navy blues and purples. Mariposa narrated: "Y'know, the sun lives for the moon; gives its light to the moon so she can shine. I heard it was because she felt lonely, searched for companionship amongst the stars and dark skies. She tried to find the sun whom she heard so much about, and finally she did-- when the moon rose between the sun and earth-- and was bathed in light. The sun - awed by her beauty- tried to find her, and her him, since that day. And so they will always be beyond each other's reach, a vicious cycle of yearning and longing. Waiting and waiting, until they can shine together again.."
Mariposa held her gaze to the sky as she spoke, staring at the rising moon-- as if waiting for her to respond. To blink her light at her, do something. But it didn't, and it never will. But in Mariposa's mind, she felt like she could relate to Moon, and could understand it in a way only she could.
"You had a sun.." Silas said

"I already got my answer," Mariposa murmured after a while. It was growing darker, and colder now. The moon shone brighter above them as it began its arc into the sky. "..and I don't want to find him... I'm alright, exactly where I am."

Suddenly, the doe stood up and walked slowly to the edge of the lake. Mariposa carefully emerged her self, foot by foot into the water, barely noticing she was freezing enough before. She followed the moon's reflection, deeper and deeper into the water. It's light reflected off the lake's surface, and brightened her eyes with an almost watery-mystic effect as she turned to look back at Silas.
"Look!" Mariposa grinned. "Look how bright the moon is, I'm practically melting in it! ...And look how shiny you are too!"
{I GOT DISTRACTED AND FORGOT
Silas grinned, watching Mariposa enjoy herself. A slight breeze picked up from behind him, snaking through the tufts of his coat. He shuddered, his heart skipping a beat. This night wind... He hadn't felt it in such a long time. He couldn't remember the last time he stayed up to see the moon spin overhead. In a burst of confidence, he lowered his head, letting the mask drop into the damp grass, and raised his head, smiling bright as the moon.

Mariposa raised her front legs and flopped them into the water, splashing it all around her. The moon's reflection wobbled and oozed over the surface of the lake. Dragonflies buzzed around, close to her face, though she didn't seem to mind. Mariposa swished the water all around, mesmerized by the vision of the moon.
She raised her head back to Silas, mouth agape in almost silly enthusiasm ready to clamor something else, until she stopped and realized he had taken off his mask. He looked so content and pleased in the moonlight that Mariposa debated to say something, in fear that she would somehow ruin the moment or embarrass him.
The doe looked back at the water instead, hoping he did not notice and become self-conscious, and smiled to herself.
Mariposa trotted out of the water, somehow surprised that she was half-soaked with cold water even though she had been so for a while now.
"Aww," she said with mock sadness, although a part of her was a bit bummed. I overdid it again."
Mari lifted her legs, showing how drenched they were. She studied the details of his human face, though tried not to stare too long so Silas wouldn't feel conscious of himself.

Mariposa ducked under a Willow tree, its long, drooping strands creating a curtain over her. She peeked out the other side of the tree, getting a clearer view of the moon. The river that flowed from the lake was some yards in front of them. "You can still see over here, if you'd like."

"Oh, that doesn't matter.." the doe responded, settling down on the ground as some strands of leaves fell in front of her shoulder, and the rest over her back. "I mean, it's worth it on a night like this."
Her hair, unbeknownst to her, was surely becoming more and more tangled as it lay, a spread out mass to her side. She didn't may it much mind, though, as she glanced over at Silas. "I like your face."
Mariposa nearly gasped after she said this; she had realized how ridiculous she sounded. The doe looked away, almost painfully embarrassed. If she didn't have a dark pelt, her cheeks would surely be flaring a bright crying-idol red. "Er, uhh, I-I meant... I-I didn't mean.. Y-you just look nice.."
