EDIT: Screw it, just everyone read this.
Edit : I don't mean to generalize, not all of you are bad.
I write this in account of my friend, but I've had this happen to me too and I've seen others encounter it.
Why is it that your deer are so rude ingame? When a deer that's a stranger to you approaches you or tries to introduce themselves, you often are angry at it or ignore it. I mean, my friend and I both own 2nd gen pictos, but some of you treated us like we were newborn fawns, ignorant of everything that goes on in our forest. Do you not consider younger deer worth your time?
I mean, I understand that you who lie down all day want to be left alone and that's acceptable, but what if you're awake and playing? Why do you shut us away, aren't we all equals in the forest?
I know it may be a part of the roleplay and all, but I know for certain that all of you don't RP, and it's still the same. I've had few good encounters with you, and I'm terribly saddened. We can all be good role models for newbies.
You don't need to be apologising for your behaviour if you think that it's justified, but I'd appreciate it if you read this at least.
Thank you, and see you in the forest.
I go OOC for newbies, I'm
I'm sorry you're having a rough time in the forest, really. It's deeply saddening.
You can come to me or my characters anytime, if I don't interact it's likely I'm just busy (or maybe overwhelmed if there's a crowd... ahaha.)
I don't mean to sound rude by
Two of my characters have Gen 1's; are always kind to newbies and, well, most other people.
There are characters/deer with Gen 4's that are rude and stuck up, IC or not.
Generalizing like that makes no sense.
You're way better off
Well, I don't really mean to
I mean, of course you don't need to be instant BFFs with newbies, but it'd be great if you could at least say hello.
All the rude deer that I have met were Gen 1 I'm afraid, but don't worry, I'm not saying ALL of them are bad, I've met some good ones as well. I'm just sad when there are so few of those encounters that have been positive.
I'm not saying ALL of them,
Thank you, I'm glad you see
Not all of you are bad. It just seems like you have your own community of some sorts, and it's quite hard to get in there and be heard.
If the person doesn't answer
Making a note of characters you didn't enjoy meeting and avoiding them when In Game might be a good idea to make the game more enjoyable for you in the future. You could also try checking the biographies of characters before you approach, but I understand that isn't easy to do with the map frequently not working correctly.
Hopefully players who instruct their characters to lash out upon being approached will read this and understand that it is impacting the game negatively for others and consider altering how they role play.
It's still pretty judgemental
Just saying you should probably keep in mind that any gen could act unpleasant- don't rule out others. I've met plenty unkind Gen 2's, 3's and 4's in my time, IC or not.
Thank you, Terabetha. I
I've already noted the deer that I don't want to meet anymore. I usually stay away from RP deer anyway, I read bios often so I know who to avoid and approach, but not all have those and it's really hard to know if they're friendly or hostile until you approach them.
I don't mind roleplaying in the slightest, as long as we know in advance that their deer are hostile towards strangers. However, we know that not everyone reads the community page, and they can get really hurt when they try to play or lie down with those deer. Especially the fawns: They still don't know how the game works. Do we really want to discourage them by being hostile towards them? ( This is no just Gen 1 players, don't worry.)
Haha, well you're absolutely
Don't worry, it's better now
I think the issue of 'being nice to fawns' and making exceptions for them is problematic because in theory they play the game for a month when they are treat fairly and given special allowances considering they are learning the ropes. Suddenly upon gaining the adult model they suddenly get treated negatively. I'm not sure if I agree with that, especially because the REAL new players will be playing as nameless Guest deer (who due to glitches end up appearing with pictograms anyway). So if people want to petition for better treatment of new players, it's not the best method to only limit this to fawns.
Anyway I think I'm rambling haha but I'm glad you posted this so that hopefully players might do some introspective thinking about how the way they play could be effecting the atmosphere of the forest socially.
We're all allowed to ramble
I understand what you mean, it's just hard to know who reads the community pages and who doesn't. I don't personally think adult deer get treated so negatively in the forest, as other players think that they now know better when they've grown up. People are careful around nameless deer and fawns, because they don't always know how the game works and may end up annoying others.
Ugh, it's hard when everyone should be taken to consideration. We're all so different inforest.
This is when it's important
OOC: Out Of Character: This is when the player is the deer. The deer they play doesn't normally act this way.
IC: In Character: When the player is playing as a character. They may not have the same view of things as their character does, and will behave toward your character (the deer you made a bio for) as a character, not toward you as a player.
My point is that you should not let IC behavior upset you personally. It is a character, not the player, and is not an attack on you. This is how a majority of people you meet will generally play. It's up to you to keep an eye out for those with only good characters, if you would like to interact in a positive way. A way to tell if your character is coming up to pictograms of positive or negative characters is if you look on the map. (it is in the top left menu on the community) You can click the player's pictogram and see who the character is.
It's unfortunate that some people don't check the map and don't know who is OOC or IC. However, right now it's the way people are playing.
(not who she's talking about, but giving advice)
ech i feel the need to
I feel the need to comment
@ ApoideaBee : This is
@ EpherFish: Aww, don't worry about it! I think it's great to apologise. I don't mind roleplaying rude deer, as long as we know in advance that it's a jerk hahe.
@ Shadowfly: Just sneezing isn't rude, maybe the other deer just misunderstood you. The main point is that you took the other player's feelings into consideration uWu <3
Everyone has their own ways
I think there is enough good 'role models' in the forest for newbies, this is not a new topic to discuss about. How about just letting everyone enjoy the forest with their own way as long as its not outright trolling *coughseabisquit* and intentionally bothering others. There will be even more 'rude' characters, there will be more nice ones, and there will be newbies and everything will stay just the same, with or without these blogs. If the newbies are so sensitive that they will shy away after a few negative interactions, then I doubt this being the right place for them to begin with since this game has developed to what it is these days.
My apologies if I sound irritable, it was not my intention. Occationally I might play with a clear newbie in the forest when Im on with my OOC, but I dont want to feel forced to do that when I want to sit in solitude or spend time with my current companion instead. Clearly everyone can and will feel differently about this topic, but this was just my two cents amongst the others.
*hides under bed* Wow, harsh
Like I said, it was not my
Nah, I don't get hurt easily
