It's cool to express opinions and all, and I get this is the internet, and, seriously, it's not like what I'm going to say will matter to the majority. But please, if you're going to talk to someone with a different opinion than you, let's be cool about it. Not develop a 'tone', not get a little testy...or continue cursing after someone says it makes them uncomfortable.
Sure, you can do what you want. But maturity and empathy are an extremely valuable traits. Just think about that for a few seconds.
Anyway, not trying to rekindle the fire, just expressing my own opinion. Carry on with your gifs.
Sometimes I feel that people won't take me seriously when I tell them I'm thirteen.
Makes me sad because age doesn't necessarily mean maturity level. ;-;
It seems like an agreement was reached here but I'll put in my 2 cents. Because I feel like it. I promise they're not going to inflame any strong emotions.
Not even mentioning my personal opinion, I think it seems as if you can post what you'd like as long as you are willing to accept any and all negative attention you may receive from posting it.
So if you're fine with the possibility of somebody getting upset at the obscenities and maybe taking their anger out on you (as people do when they're mad), then have at it.
I'll put in mine too. I am underage. I am aware of it. Yes, I wish some stuff on here really wasn't but I know that I am mature enough to handle those such things. I'm 13. I know what sex is. I know every swear word in, and not in, the dictionary. I know what is right and wrong (as far as that stuff goes, anyway) and I have come to accept what is, on here. Do I wish it was a friendlier place here? Yes. Do I complain about it or let the vile things on here influence me? Not one bit. That's the reason we are censored from so many things. The adults want to protect us from this stuff so we don't become that way ourselves. I don't see me swearing up a storm and being vile or overly MA with my posts.
That's part of being a community here that has no rules. It would be NICE if adults could keep the adult stuff to a nimimum so that some of us younger people can freely play on here. So they HAVE to? No. But it would be nice and respectful of them to help us younger ones out a little. We're exposed to it all anyway, much to the government's dismay, but to show a little control would be nice. We're expected to act like adults when....HELLO....we're not adults yet for a reason. We WILL make mistakes. We WILL act immature. We do that for a reason. It's in o,ur blood. We don't have the experiences that the older members have. Really if I ran this place, older adults wouldn't be allowed on this site and it would be centered around kids more because of the simplicity of the gameplay itself and the no chat thing. Roleplaying makes the game much more complicated than it needs to be, and forces people to follow rules that are not posted anywhere because the players make their own rules and expect others to follow them without due reason.
So that's my two cents. I personally don't care if the IMG is used, because I won't be affected by it. However, others might.
I respectfully disagree, Cali. It's not in our blood, we decide who we want to be and how we handle things. It's not the adults' job to cater and to coddle. I do what I please here because I do not care what others think. Of course I will get shy and will try to stay within sensible limits, but I won't censor because someone says "Think about the children."
Sorry for being off topic but:
@Calida
No one forces you to play the game in any specific way. You don't have to roleplay, you don't have to get involved with overly complictaed plotlines etc. I've been here vor 1 1/2 years without any roleplay and I'm just fine with it.
@cussing
I guess I'm an insensitive idiot for thinking it's just a word? A word that's all over the media anyway. I don't see people around me cursing like a sailor just because they heard/read some bad language in their youth.
I'm too sleepy to provide my input besides to each their own, the internet is a terrible place to wage a war, and I used to be anti-profanity from until Junior year when my brother died, and my censor stopped caring. As long as I don't see mentions of drug abuse anywhere I'm cool.
Also let me say I love you to these beautiful people

that's all I have to say sir
Seeing as "bad" words, cuss words, curse words -- whatever you want to call them -- are a large part of my vocabulary, I don't care if you have a gif or image or signature with a crapton of cusswords. Do whatever tickles your fancy, aye? I mean, fuck, when I was.. not even ten I was well aware of many of the cuss words we have today.
I got to thinking about why I was told not to cuss as a kid .. eeeh maybe over a year ago. It made no sense to me. We're told not to use "bad" words as kids, but when we're adults we fling the words around freely anyway. (At least, this is from what I've observed. I don't know of at least one adult who hasn't cussed at least once in their lifetime.) I understand if you're telling the kid not to cuss because it may hurt someone's feelings.. but what if you were to, instead, just teach the children that the words /aren't/ bad. Teach them to not take offense from them. Teach them that they're just exclamations of pain, surprise, etc. Rather than say "This is a bad word, it'll hurt feelings, so don't say it." Because then WHAT is the kid going to grow up to do? They're going to grow up using that word to insult people they don't like because they KNOW it'll hurt feelings.
I never said "don't do this because blah blah blah". I said it would be respectful HOWEVER blah blah blah. I speak on both sides of the fence and still get called on it even though I agree? Seriously? A girl just can't win here. Fuck it. No matter WHAT I say I get turned down. Thanks. I'll go cry in a corner now like a little baby because that's what you all expect me to do.
^If that's directed at me (regarding roleplaying) as well than I'm sorry. I didn't mean ill. It's something I'd say to anyone who's bothered or stressed out by this type of playing.
I have no problem with swearing. I swear like a sailor... and then some. I try not to around new acquaintances or people I don't know just because I know how uptight & fruity some are & I'd rather not have a headache. If children are on the internet, then some swearing is not going to have them tainted. A swear word is just another word to me. There is not one swear word that offends me & not one swear word I don't say.
Just my 2 cents... I think if the world wasn't so uptight & living in an era long past, it would be a better one.
