I thought the project was a

I thought the project was a good idea. Just not the name part.

I look at it this way.

We are deer. in a forest. Some of us are ourselves. Nameless are never characters. Because they are nameless and those behind them don't know about the community site.

When I'm in as my ooc I'm usually in as her/him because I'm feeling depressed or extremely sad. I go in so I can sit with good friends since I can't sit by them irl.

if a nameless comes by I will shake my head no, or taunt if that doesn't work.

If I were sitting in real life with friends at a table while I was distressed or sad. And a random stranger came over and tried to interject themselves into the scene without knowing what was going on, I would ask them to leave. And if that didn't work. I would gradually become more and more firm in asking them to leave.

And then, there's always the fact that yes nameless are new. But people irl can be to.
When a toddler hits someone, you don't brush it off because they're new to the world. You tell them it isn't nice to hit people. that's how people learn what is polite and what is not.

You're awesome Quad. But you

You're awesome Quad. But you always do that one thing and it annoys me- You do something, you then go crazy and thinks everyone is angry and hates you, and you say you're going to leave and then the next day your all better.

I do the same thing. Everyday.

Just, please, stop. If you feel like that, just take a break. Calm down. Do something.

I've tried this a few times

I've tried this a few times but never did anything with it. I think keeping a tally of rejected vs accepted is completely fine.

In my experiences, I was accepted far more than I was rejected as a nameless or fawn.

I think it's a good idea so long as names are left out and record of accounts are kept brief or vague. If it's used as a forecast I think we might learn something about our forest.

I don't strive to be the best, but instead I strive to do my best, and always give it my all every time.

Do you guys really want me to go through with this project? Is it worth doing now that you know I'll be wandering around as a nameless?

Of course. I play as a

Of course. I play as a nameless fairly often, too. Maybe if 'player characters' recognize that nameless doesn't equal new or temporary, they will act differently?

Although i'm still basically

Although i'm still basically a new player, I think this a great idea and should continue to be done. I think if people don't want their name on the list, from the start don't attack a nameless. And if you do attack a nameless and really don't give a crap, don't look at the list in the first place.

Eh, whatever. I think you should continue with the project, its not as if your doing it for the 'wrong reasons.' Your doing it to help namelesses and I think thats pretty darn awesome! Keep on going!

Edit: Concerning other people knowing your in the forest as a nameless, I don't much find this as a problem. There are a wide variety of nameless, so everyone (if they're worried about this project) would be nice to every nameless. That, I think, is still a gain because they're treating nameless kindly...

Pepper: if I don't want

Pepper:

if I don't want strangers with me irl when I don't want strange company why should it be different here?
it doesn't matter if the person sees they're on a list, the point is other people will see. And people will treat them differently.

quadraptor - I think M & A

quadraptor - I think M & A have picked up on this and have started 'trying it out' some. I saw just today Michael on his non-god account as a fawn. I already knew that they both had test accounts, but... well, I thought he'd be an adult like he is in all the pictures on-site. I even have a screenshot for proof but I don't have a Photobucket to post it on-site.
Just thought you'd like to know.
See you in the Forest!

woodswolf: You don't need

woodswolf: You don't need Photobucket to post - try tinypic, they allow you to upload without an account or such. It'd be great to see if M & A are actually are trying it.

bluejay17 - I've actually

bluejay17 - I've actually seen Michael twice today, once awake playing with me and a few other fawns (and one 'ignoring' adult) and the other time asleep somewhere near De Drinkplaats. On both occurences he was a fawn.
And thanks about the tinypic thing. That helps Eye

Updated totals from the other

Updated totals from the other day and today. In addition, I added one more group - 'Neutral' encounters, where a deer wasn't rude but wasn't polite and simply acknowledged me without interacting much at all.

This is an interesting study.

This is an interesting study. I guess I really haven’t seen this as a huge problem on this game. I’ve never really witnessed “rude” behavior against nameless or fawns for the most part. If they are doing something I find obnoxious (like non-stop mooing) I usually just sit and ignore or turn on the mute button. Sometimes I’ll shake my head no and sad emote if a fawn is spell spamming me, especially with pelt spells which are a major pain in the arse when playing a mini.

Ignoring is not something I would consider “rude.” People can be doing all sorts of things and trying to provide endless entertainment to every fawn and nameless that comes around is not always possible. My deer are mostly sitting around half the time anyways, lol.

woodswolf: I’m pretty sure it is a known glitch that Michael’s picto shows up on the head of some fawns and nameless. I’m glad you are having fun, but I doubt that most of those cases are actually him.

quadraptor's picture

My definition for 'rude' is

My definition for 'rude' is anything that would translate to "I don't want you here/near me, go away!". Ignoring isn't counted in this, I don't even count that as a neutral encounter.

I'm actually planning a

I'm actually planning a simmilar project: a "let's play" on another forum, going through a month as a fawn without ever signing the deer up for the community site, or even alerting you guys that he exists as one of my characters. Just playing as a random fawn, making notes and telling people on that forum about about his days. When he grows up, the LP will end, and I'll post a link, or maybe just the whole thing, there.

It's less of an experiment and more of a way of, hopefully, bringing more people to the game.

...I don't know when I'll be doing this, actually. It may never happen, heh.
woodswolf's picture

Sighthoundlady - Actually,

Sighthoundlady - Actually, namelesses get MY picto when I'm in-game. And there WAS a nameless there (with my picto).

Seed - That sounds interesting. I'm thinking about 'going nameless' as well eventually. It sounds kinda fun... Who knows?...

I've never seen people attack others, really, but... well, I thought there would be SOME negatives.

Actually I didn't expect any

Actually I didn't expect any different. I've never seen anyone attacking a Nameless unless a Nameless asked for it*, but usually it was all turned into a joke anyway. Or a Nameless was ignored.
I don't mean to be rude, but I don't see why so many of you people think Nameless deer are so discriminated... I guess it's because people don't take Nameless seriously.
Also when they ignore a Nameless I think it's mostly because they're currently busy with something else - I, for example, run my game in a window and have my sound turned off. I bet I've already ignored dozens of deers, not only Nameless ones and Fawns.
I'm probably wrong, however, haven't been here for as long as some of you. Well we'll see how it goes, can't wait for the next update!

*uhm, I also suspect that there are some people who choose to play as a Nameless to provoke others to fight... just a personal observation
woodswolf's picture

Well, I wasn't so sure, after

Well, I wasn't so sure, after hearing all of these 'horror stories' about how people have attacked namelesses and fawns... Your point about playing just to fight might have some merit, fortunately.
Hopefully the positive results can continue.
