Being in...several...science classes this term, I've been feeling inspired to create some pelt ideas that go along with some biological concepts. Some of these are based on blown-up images of things (as seen through microscopes), and others are more conceptual.

I hope to update as I create more when my muse calls.

Each will have a brief description if the concept is unclear.

Lifeflow
Beautiful red blood cells as seen when they flow through our arteries and veins. Red due to oxygenation (arteries), and blue with a lack of oxygen (veins).


Lifebringer
A sperm and egg just before union to form the very first step of new life: a zygote.


Aqua vitae
The essential lubricant of life: water, as seen on the molecular level. One oxygen atom and two hydrogens.


Divine
The nautilus shell, displaying one of the unique characteristics of life, the divine ratio, phi. Each section of the shell when compared to the others has the same ratio. This ratio can be seen in many other organisms in our world, and cannot be explained by science.


Diatom Rainbow
Based on one of National Geographic's 2008 Microscopic Images of the Year, this is based on a photograph of diatoms (algae) taken through a very powerful microscope. In the photograph, they are multicoloured due to polarized filters.
